Aramex dropped off my first Tamiya radio control kit this morning. The Frog which I purchased early in the month was a ready built model but now since I really want to get into this hobby I ordered two more car kits so I could enjoy building them.
I originally wanted to purchased the Tamiya’s from the local dealer since his prices are cheaper than the Internet but both of the cars I wanted were out of stock here, actually one of them (pictured above), the Lancia Delta HF Integrale was a discontinued model so I only managed to find it on eBay. The other car, an old Dodge van nicknamed the Lunch Box was coming in the next shipment due to arrive in February but I couldn’t wait that long so I also ordered it from eBay.
First thing I did once I got my kit today was pass by the Tamiya workshop in Muthana and pick up a metal ball bearing set and some spray paint which I am going to use once the Lunch Box arrives next week. Now I am going to spend all day and put this kit together. Will post pictures once I am done. The fact that my car was delivered to me on Christmas morning makes me feel like a kid all over again.
Update: Ok it took me around 5 hours but I finally was able to put the whole thing together and take it out for a spin in my parking lot. The car is great but I definitely need to do some upgrades, first thing will probably be a more powerful engine motor followed by better grip tires and probably a suspension upgrade.

Merry Christmas Mark!
Sounds like a wonderful way to spend Christmas day!! Enjoy and have a happy holiday
Merry Christmas Mark……u dont have to feel like a kid…..you are one
Niiiiiice .. I liked the tires and the rims, but don’t they give you a spare tire ?
Merry Christmas Mark !
Mytoyco is cheaper than the ones on the internet ? I would like to build a model too, could you post on the assembly process once you’re done ?
Merry Christmas đŸ™‚
We all deserve to feel like a kid most of the time……….:)
Merry Christmas
happy holidays
Marry Christmas Enjoy it …
Mohammed: Nope no spair
Mathai: Yeah its cheaper to buy the stuff from the local dealer since he gets them directly from China. The build process is pretty simple since it comes with a step by step guide. Only problem I had was greasing up the parts. I didn’t know how much grease to apply so I think i ended up applying a lot lol
Engine = Motor
Merry Xmass
yeah just fixed that
Merry Christmas Mark,
Thats a nice car u got…..
For those who call this a toy, please understand that this is not a toy by any means and its for Big Kids mainly 21+….:)
Let me know once u build it…join us if u feel like for these fun races….
Cheers mate.
Asif
Damn. I love Lancias
Also, if u need help building let me know…
Yea one more thing…. be very careful with the shims…use them appropriately…..if shims are not properly fixed specially in the differentials, it might just snap ….. so be careful…..
whereever ure fixing screws metal to metal….use threadlock
selftaping screws which are mainly inserted into plastic parts, tighten them but remember not to use too much force, because too much tightening will strip the plastic … once ure screw is sitting flush tighten it using 3 fingers….thts the maximum pressure you should apply….
thanks asif but i already finished building it
Great Bro!!….Will be flying tomorrow after my cricket match…. join us if u have the time…. around 3:00pm in south surra….
the site of my toy should be updated and fixed must of the pic and vedios not appear.
It took me 5 hours to built my ford focus also. The only difference is that I got the body not painted, no stickers on it and not cut, so I had to cut the body, paint it and put the stickers on. Now I am gonna get new batteries and see if they last longer, if they don’t I am gonna see if I can switch the car to fuel Motor instead.
Damn it, Mark. You made me looking on ebay for this model đŸ˜‰ Where did you get the remote ?
Well I wanted a Futaba Remote so I got it from a place in Kuwait called Extreme Hobbies.
that kit is epic, i still dream of An HF integrale kit, and if i ever get one i don’t think i will ever drive it on dust LOL… by the way (i heard you damaged it in a later post) but the HF body is one of the most Fragile Tamiya has ever built…blame the Italian cubism design for that…but the car looks epic in Martini colors.
My first kit was the Madcap…god i love that thing, it’s in its box now with a damaged Chassis can’t find a replacement…
