So its been like 3 months now since I got my Motorola V3x. People ask me what I think about the phone and its hard to give them a direct answer. I personally love the phone but I don’t understand why. There are so many things that are wrong with it I don’t know why I haven’t gotten rid of it yet.
The phone is stupid. When I first got the phone and I tried sending a picture via bluetooth I couldn’t get it to work. I would select the image, click on “options” and then “send to” but it would only give me the option to send by MMS. I was like what the fuck is this crap and I just left it at that. Then one day I was telling a friend of mine who also owns a Motorola about how I can’t send pictures with bluetooth and he tells me I can. Basically what you have to do is select the image, click on “options” then click on “manage” and then click on “copy” and then choose the bluetooth device you want to send the picture to. I was like shocked, what idiot came up with this incredibly unnatural method of sending a picture by bluetooth? By default if people want to send a picture to another phone they will click on “send” not “manage” then “copy”.
The phone is riddled with strange shit like that. Sending an SMS is a pain because the T9 dictionary keeps forgetting words I teach it. The word “fuck” which I use a lot never even gets saved in the dictionary for some unknown reason. Other words, mostly names of people I know seem to be forgotten by the dictionary after a certain amount of time. Its just really weird.
The worst thing has to be that sometimes people on the other end of the line don’t hear me clearly. People have reported strange beeping sounds, crackles and white noise. It doesn’t happen when I am using the 3G network but sometimes when the 3G signal is low the phone swaps to the regular 2G and thats when the problems occur. I heard a firmware update solves this issue but I haven’t tried it.
With all this unlogical and unexplainable issues I still love the phone. Its fast, I hate it when machines can’t catch up to my needs. With the V3x in the 3 months I have owned the phone not once did I have to wait a single second for it to “think” or “act”. Everything is instant from canceling a call, to redialing, to exiting and entering menus. Never a lag, never a hiccup. The phone also has some nice features like if I don’t read a message or view a missed call, the phone vibrates and beeps once every 5 (or could be 10) minutes. The phone is also customizable, I can move menus around and assign every single button on the phone to perform an action different then what it was supposed to do. Its small little things like that which makes this phone a pleasure to use.
Overall though I wouldn’t recommend this phone to anyone, I wouldn’t recommend Motorola at all not just this phone. I love it and I am still not fully sure why, I mean it could be just because I think the phone looks cool but in general most people should hate it.

, nokia is the best ,
I personally use Nokia and only Nokia, I think they are really good but they’re kinda stupid because they just keep making phones with no major upgrades and just a slight change in design, they are also way to common. Beside that they have a really great interfact. This thing with Nokia is it’s like a Windows, everyone hates it but they still continue using it. They rest of the mobiles are like Macs and Linux and all other brands. I really want to switch to a Sony Erricson but I’ve noticed that most of their phones lag a lot and are pretty slow.
What mobile would you recommened in terms of intercace and other stuff.
I’m waiting for the Apple Phone to release, it’s supposed to release in November, that’s what I’ve heard, because they had announced that it may be delayed, generally Apple releaseson supposingly October 12th? That’s what someone told be, not sure about that though.
What I hate about Motorola phones is how they’re lacking in the areas of usability and interface/menu design.
They’ve improved their device designs over the past years, I can hand them that, but if it’s not usable then what’s the use?
should’ve gotten the sony K750i.. i stand by it saying it’s the best cellphone i’ve ever bought.. ever..
I’ve got this phone too and i’ve also got a love/hate relationship with it, but the worst thing about it is that it is always turning itself off!!! Even if I put it down gently…so annoying π
Dude, I totally understand the “fuck” thing. It took me a couple of messages to get it going with my motorola V3i. But it’s started to come up.
Say what you might, a Nokia using the Series40 OS (and not the CRAP Symbian shit they’re obssesed with now) is hands down and by far the easiest mobile one could use. I used to be a long-time Nokia fan and user. However, in the past 3 years or so, their designs have become lackluster and blah, and their insistence on using the completely unintuitive and bulky Symbian OS has turned me off. I bought a K700i last August and, although I found it difficult to use at first, I soon got used to it and fell in love with it. Last month, after getting fed up with its crappy joystick, I traded it in for a brand new W810i. It is by far one of the best phones I have ever used. It looks cool, it’s fast, and it’s surprisingly intuitive. It does have its little quirks, yes, but I love it all the same.
I hate that phone! looool! Its annoying as hell and OS is retarded! that is my opinion on most motorolas!
They need to reconfigure your network. That’s it! It will take away all the buzzing sounds, beeping etc.
hey shopa how do i do that??@??!
I think Sony Ericssons are the most reliable phones, I used to use Nokias, and then I got sick of their phones and then I switched to the SE and never turned back. SE’s are fast, reliable, and even though they hiccup sometimes, it really doesn’t bother me, it’s not like I’m in a race to see who can call who faster or send a msg faster. It’s probably also the most logical phone. Easiest to use.
Thanks for helping me eliminate that as a potential phone. I’m thinking of getting a new one and so far I’m choosing b/w the SE K800i and the Nokia N93 (don’t think its arrived here yet).
i own the v3x .. about the “Beeping” thing i took the phone to the shop and the fix it up , but i have 2 problems with it ! the battery is toooo shorty ! and the ringing volume not too high
Mark,
you should take it to the dealer-shop in kuwait city. You will find the address and name on the back of your warranty! If you don’t have it, I’ll forward it to you as soon as I get back home later today.
Anybody here tried the BenQ-Siemens EF81 ? seems like a good phone specially that it’s from a great company like siemens
Damn i hate this Phone so much. 1 Month and it was broken. It was ok, but Motorola…
The Cam is not the best, but the UMTS (TV is good)
I more like SonyEricsson
Mark i understand your pain,
I threw my V3x through the fucking wall. There are so many small issues with it that the only way to solve them is by rebooting the phone or resetting the manufacturing settings. What bullshit. Voted best 3g handset in 2006 MY FUCKING ASS
if u want to send a picture using bluetooth (this should work if its the same as the v3i) then right click or “select” the image and click copy, then it should ask you if u want to copy it to bluetooth or some other things so just click bluetooth and u can send it
I cant wait to rip the screen half of the phone off and smash a hole through it with a pick axe π After my contract expires of course
I have had this phone for a year and a half now and I can’t seem to get over it and try to look for a new phone. I just love it!
The only problem I have with it is that the coating actually peels off the phone! Amazing ehh… I think you have noticed it, unless u take real good care of it. But for me, I don’t mind a little peeling, this phone still turns heads when I use it. Its just great. never broke, never had a glitch, nothing!
And if you noticed, in sunlight, NO OTHER 2MP camera phone AN EVER BEAT this monster! Its camera is AMAAAAZING!!
For people with the ringing volume, I didn’t feel that its low at all, but I hacked it and increased the volumes anyways, the speakers now blast at volume 7 π
But overall, if this phone EVER breaks, it made me love motorola so much that I will be heading directly to a Motorola store without thinking, for a replacement, perhaps the v9 ??
And videocalling is amazing too… quality is great.
If you have any problems with it let me know π
