Shake Shack NY is better

My hotel is conveniently located 5 minutes away from the Madison Avenue Shake Shack branch so I passed by last night for dinner. I ordered a double shack, a plain single cheeseburger, fries, a regular sized coke and a bottle of water. The bill came out to around $18 which if I’m not mistaken is cheaper than Kuwait. Taste wise I have to say the NY Shake Shack tastes better than the Kuwait one. The patty tastes less greasy, the veggies taste better (the onions were delicious) and the fries were crunchy crispy which I love.

Same thing happened to all International franchises. Actually Danny Meyer know Kuwait is lesser quality according to a recent interview. They just think no one knows it exists here so they afford to go down in quality.

It’s not that, you can’t import all your ingredients from the US (Shake shack in Kuwait imports their meat I think) so you have to use some local stuff. The problem is our local ingredients are shit.

The reason Kuwait has so much sauce based food (MARAG ON EVERYTHING WOO) is to cover up the taste of our inferior products πŸ™ sad but true

@aaa I often hear Kuwaitis rave about the fruit they find in foreign markets, which I find strange. I really don’t travel to enjoy good fruit, but living in Kuwait, you do. Look at the quality of your produce and the lack of variety, why, government monopolies and inferior port facilities. I can confirm that many countries, who even bother with this market, drop their best fruit in Dubai and give you the left overs. Why would you import broccoli from the US when you can import it at a better quality level from Europe? It’s closer. In fact, there is little produce from France or Spain in your market. This government has hurt this country at every level and no one says a GD word.

If you want anything decent and fresh you have to ship it by air which is prohibitively expensive, the way our shipping routes work we are after dubai geographically it’s not a case of government intervention. Like, you literally have to pass dubai to reach us.

Also they drop things off in Dubai first because they can mark them up higher there and people will accept it.

I pay less for my groceries in Dubai than here. I am surprised that there is no outcry at the price of food. But I understand the government is giving more free rations to Kuwaitis. The quality of food is autrocious here, they can’t even get simple ‘greens’ fresh?

Kuwait is a desert where our port is a harbor out of the way of anything, you have to get everything frozen or canned. Compare this to something like Southern France where some people don’t have a fridge because they buy and cook everything the same day, that’s how fresh it is.

Are you comparing the exact same groceries? Where do you shop in Kuwait? I don’t pay much in Kuwait but I shop at coops and we have a number there so we get a 10% discount. Food prices in Kuwait aren’t cheap but they’re definitely cheaper than anywhere in Europe, and Dubai has a tax on goods so I really don’t know how it can be cheaper. I know restaurants at least are more expensive in Dubai for the same thing.

And there is an outcry over food prices, that’s the point of the rations.

Honestly the fact that we can get fruits over here is a damn miracle, nothing is grown remotely close to us. 70 years ago brides used to get an Orange as their wedding gift because it was the only orange they would ever see.

Restaurants here know that people here travel and at a certain point they will taste that chain of a restaurant abroad and they will notice a difference in the quality of the food so why would I ruin a franchise if I know the company that got it is not willing to stick to the same ingredients and quality?

How do you stick to the same when nothing is found locally? You’re forgetting that the meat in NY comes from Pat Lafrida, the buns from Martin’s and the veggies from the local farmers market.

The Intercontinental TimeSquare is in walking distance to TimesSquare, Theater District and Shake Shack is downstairs. It is new and is clean and a good location.

We had some in Dubai last week, where they are in de MOE food court. The cheeseburger was groose, the fat dripped from the soggy bun and the milkshale tasted artificial. Never again!! πŸ™

2 questions… Does any food franchise in Kuwait have the same quality as the original?
And
Why is it more expensive in Kuwait? You can’t tell me commercial lease in NYC is cheaper than avenues! Also Kuwait labor is cheaper and no taxes! I don’t get it! Saudi is so much cheaper!

I did not like Shake Shack in NY much and never tried the one in Kuwait, BYW if you are close to 14st there is an Elevation Burger close by, but man let your Siri girlfriend take you to Jackson Hole, you can thank me later.

I can’t agree more with you, it is not even close. I think that people in Kuwait go for the brand name rather than the taste!

No, I think it is the ambience. People like to sit in a cafe with hip music. People here want the country to open up and because it has this vibe going on, people want to eat the burger regardless of the grease factor. Anyway, you can’t train people to cook the food better, Kuwait? Train the people to use less oil if that is a problem. God you would think the Taliban is running this place, music…….OMG

I agree! I absolutely loved how light it felt in NY when I had Shake Shack; I had it at the Avenues and for some reason it felt extra greasy and just not the same which is why I visit Elevation Burger more than Shake Shack.

In Kuwait most of hotels and restaurants server rotten meat. You will find on news papers screaming out daily
