Just saw these pictures taken in Saudi Arabia. Looks like they had some serious flooding because of the rain. [Link]

The video below on the other hand is from last year and it shows a dramatic rescue of a woman from a car that was just about to get swept away by a flood. [YouTube]

Punishment from God
Aren’t they learning anything from what happen in Jeddah few months ago. One of the richest country in the world don’t have a sewage system in their cities and towns. That’s a BIG shame on the Saudi government.

Adam, I’m being ironic. Fundamentalists in Saudi Arabia like to explain all sorts of natural disasters as punishment for our sins.
Riyadh needs to build better sewage infrastructure, the new cities that are being built are designed to deal with rain flooding.

We would never know would we? Maybe or maybe not, its all in the hands of the creator. Who are we to say….. but we must learn for every ordeal.
But weird thing is .. ever since Saudi has gone into the so called “reform” path… so many natural disasters have occurred …

True… yet sometimes cities can take so much hits … and just not take it anymore… many modern cities with modern infrastructure have been hit with floods… its a natural thing i guess

most countries is the Gulf don’t have any rain drainage system let alone sewage system . Kuwait had invested a lot in such systems . Most of you too young to recall it but back in the early 70’s there was a lot of road constructions and a lot of road closures and diversions . They put these huge round concrete things . If you recall in 97 we had a flash flood most of the roads where drained after the rain stoped , only Gazally part since it was blocked by trash .

it is predicted that the weather is changing in this region , I guess the rains explains it .

hey there am getting into this a bit late… but Speaking abt kuwait and floods
yes kuwait did get really bad floods once i remember… but they cleared the floods out in like mater of 3 hours after the rain stopped….
and this was way back like 15-18 years ago or so…. i remember seeing a brand new ferari submerged under the floods
