iPhone 6 Followup Review

Late last month I picked up my iPhone 6 from Geant and I’ve been using it ever since. It’s been just over two weeks now and the phone still hasn’t grown on me. The biggest issue I had with the iPhone 6 was the size, it’s just too big to use with one hand and two weeks later this remains my biggest issue with the phone. But, if that wasn’t enough, two more annoying issues have popped up as well.

I tend to leave my phone on silent most of the time because the vibration is usually strong enough to be felt and loud enough to be heard, or at least that was the case with my iPhone 5. With the new iPhone 6 the vibration is so much more weaker and quieter that I started missing a lot calls and now no longer keep my phone on silent.

The second issue I’ve been having with the phone is the grip since the phone constantly slips out of my hand. It probably has to do with the fact the edges are really curved and the phone is pretty wide making it difficult to get a good grip.

On the plus side everything else about the phone is just way better than my iPhone 5. I just wish Apple made the iPhone in three different sizes.

Its bigger than the iPhone 5, but its average size in comparison to other phones.

So unless those 8 you mentioned are previous iphone owners, I don’t see any reason why they would agree ;/

4 out of 5 people I know that went from the 4s/5/5s to the 6 are comfortable with the 6 size. With Mark being the 5th. Granted three are women, and use the phone with both hands.

I went from the 5s to the 6 plus and I really would have rather bought the 6 at this point. And this is from a guy that carries a galaxy note 3 as a second phone.

This isn’t about the iPhone 6 but about iOS 8 and about about OS X Mavericks 10.9.5. Ever since I updated my iPhone 5s, I’ve had endless problems and after checking online and through the Apple store, I realised so is the majority of people. From banners getting stuck, screen out of focus, battery drainage, overheating. And with the Macbook, the new update has caused some laptops to go to a grey screen when shutting down. This is a common problem according to the Apple store here in Melbourne, who are all praying for an update to be released soon. So disappointed with Apple.

That grey screen at shutdown is common. Happens even in Yosemite Beta 5 or DP8. Let’s wait for the proper release, maybe tomorrow.

@mark,

“Double redundancy” on ‘more weaker and quieter’.

You can remove “more”

The banners getting stuck is so annoying! I think it might be an issue with apps not being updated because banners don’t get stuck when you try to flick away notifications from stock apps.

It’s just a matter of time before Apple comes out with the iPhone 6c to correct the horrendous design flaws of this monstrosity. Did anyone notice the camera sticking out of the body? This is a first! Mr. Jobs is probably rolling in his grave right now for his company to blindly imitate Samsung. I’m quite happy with my iPhone 5s, thank you very much.

the camera sticking out of body is actually not an issue, it’s not noticeable and the phone sits flat on the table. Steve jobs wouldn’t have been able to fix this issue since its Ive’s job not his.

I’ve been an android user most of my smartphone life but the one area that I feel the iPhone’s have an edge are the darn good cameras (and the software that makes the most of them!!)

And design wise I feel the phone looks much better in real life compared to the press product shots.

If they just made the iphone 5 more rugged and it’s battery significantly better, I would have been very happy.

I’m planning to buy a new phone soon… The iphone 5

I wish they had kept the size the same , rather than increasing it not making it handy as per Mark’s review. So I better not preorder on any of the websites , until I get a personal feel and grip of it. So far the iphone 5 has been top notch for me , running well except for the battery.

Probably better to hold both before you decide. Just because Mark thinks it’s big, doesn’t mean you will. I’m perfectly happy with my 6 and I have the leather case on so it’s a lot less slippery than naked.

Phone is on another planet to the 5s.

8/10 wouldn’t go back to the old size now.

Try it – it feels small and dated and too chunky.

Other than Apple Pay (which doesn’t work in Kuwait anyway), or NFC (which is locked down anyway, its not like you can beam photos between phones), everything else works on the 5S, plus it has Touch ID.

I think I’ll wait till Apple releases the 6S, 6SPlus and 6Smini – all with the new A8X chip they just announced for the new iPad Air 2.

Any clue when xcite/zain will be releasing the phone? I’m getting SO SICK of waiting and not being given a time fram

The new iPhones are supposed to be announced by Zain/Oredoo on October 30, Viva already said that it will be available probably around that date. Xcite already released the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and you can buy it from them now.
