The Apple iPhone XS

Thursday night I passed by Digits in Marina Mall and picked up the new iPhone XS a few hours before the official launch. Digits always hook me up with a phone ahead of launch and even discount the phones for me because they know they’re going to get publicity from me. I like this arrangement because it means I don’t need to wait in line or worry about the phone getting sold out. This year I actually had another company approach me with a better deal on the new iPhone, but my history with Digits goes way way back.

I’m a very nostalgic person and I’ve got a lot of nostalgia with Digits. I’ve been a customer of theirs since before they were called Digits, since before they were called Mac&More, since way before the iPhone or iPod ever existed, back when their store was simply called Apple Computer. Back then they were located across from Salhia and had beautiful beige Power Macs on display which I sadly never got to own. But, since the very beginning, they’ve been hooking me up with stuff like when I got my Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh from them or when they let me take their Think Different banners after their Salhia store closed down. And then I got my 15 seconds of worldwide fame because of them when my pictures of their abandoned store made their way around the web. So yeah, I’m a big fan of Digits and very loyal. I think their service center is great and I just love dealing with them which is why I’m always promoting them.

This year I had two options of phones to choose from, the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max. I was pretty tempted to get the Max but I already thought the regular XS was too big and so I knew I’d struggle with the Max. Since I sold my water damaged iPhone X around 3 months back I’ve been using an iPhone 8. I loved how small it felt and how I could easily reach all four corners of the screen with my thumb, but I did miss the full screen and I majorly missed the ability to switch between apps by just swiping left or right at the bottom of the screen. Although I was tempted to get the Max because it was a new phone and would give me more to write about on the blog, I knew the regular XS was the one I really should get. Judging by the poll I held on my instagram story though, it looks like the majority of you would prefer the Max.

The XS and X are virtually the same phone. Even though Apple could spend an hour talking about the differences, in reality, there isn’t that much of a difference. The only thing you might notice being different is the camera, the new camera is an improvement over the previous one but unless you’re taking two photos with the two different phones in the same spot and then compare them side by side… you won’t really notice a difference. Battery life still isn’t that great, when I went from the X to the 8 I was kinda surprised at how much better the battery life on the 8 was, I could spend all day on the phone and the battery wouldn’t drop down past 50%. With the X and now the XS, I could be down to 50% by lunchtime.

But truthfully, I’d rather be on the X or XS over the 8 any day. The iPhone 8 and any non-fullscreen iPhone really do feel and look outdated compared to the new iPhones with the fullscreen. Although I loved the battery life on the 8, I don’t mind the sacrifice for a larger and better screen. So moving from an iPhone 8 (or 7, 6, 5 etc..) to an XS is a no-brainer, the question really is if you have an iPhone X now, is it worth moving to an XS? The answer is no, not at all.

nooooooo hell no the iphone XR is way worse than what he already have
the LCD screen just shows 480p resolution thats iphone 4 generation.
even iphone 5 has more resolution than iphone XR. why whould he pay for
a new phone costs around 200-250 KD with a very bad specifications: LCD screen, resolution, camera. with that money he can buy iphone X atleast its the same price with better quality and specifications. something with 1080p resolution, OLED, Dual camera.

*my opinion*

X-Max and order through apple’s website. Ship it with DHL EasyShop since their US address is in Delaware which is a tax free so you will not end up paying US taxes. Roughly it will cost you 11-12 KD shipping.

Not with Kuwaiti credit card. It’s possible that you could pay by money order or wire transfer, but you’d have to call the US Apple Store to learn if that would be an option and arrange it if it can be done. Or check Best Buy if they accept international credit cards.

I’m in desperate need of a dual-sim phone but do not want the Xs Max.

Any idea if the Xs is capable of this set-up: either dual nano-sim or 1 e-sim (ooredoo) and 1 nano sim (Zain).

Doesnt China have different LTE bands than GCC? Or has Apple launched the XS with all possible LTE bands this time?

The Android manufacturers (e.g. OnePlus) have different models for China and rest of the world for precisely this reason.

What I understood all over insta is that only the Max has 2 physical nano-sim slots. I don’t think there’s an Xs version with 2 nano-sim slots – its only esim+nano.

Having said that, any idea when Ooredoo launches e-sim capability? And how does it work? Hopefully we’re not charged extra in addition to that kidneys, gall bladders and lungs we’re donating for the Xs.

“Hopefully we’re not charged extra in addition to that kidneys, gall bladders and lungs we’re donating for the Xs”

Meh, whatever happened to the good old days of ‘never-to-be-repaid’ consumer loans, perennially overdrawn credit cards and installment-based impulsive shopping in Kuwait?

I’m looking dual sim XS; At the moment i checked with XCITE thay have only sim +e-sim options…………….any idea where i can get dual sim in kuwiat ?

With all the problems iPhone Xs users been facing I seriously advice to hold back your purchase till Apple actually address these issues and wait for the next patch of the iPhone Xa.
Chagring problems and a built-in beauty mode.. I don’t get why people bother anymore.

I wouldn’t listen to him, He’s been salty ever since Apple hasn’t invited him to this years iPhone event. He posts all his videos with negativity on apple and he gets more views on that than the others. It makes me sad the amount of publicity he has

Lou (unboxtherapy) is as realist it will ever get with gis content. He credits apple where credit is due when he finds something he likes (he praised the sounds system compared to the note9). Wouldn’t listen to him? He’s simply proving that the iPhone Xs is having issues with its charging. Why wouldn’t you listen to a fact he’s trying to prove? If anybody is salty, it might be you. And come on, everybody love some salt 😉

You’re just another example of what a good con man he is .watch his review on the iPhone XS and then watch the review of every famous youtuber out there (MKBHD, Jonathan Morisson,Austin Evans etc ). Every other reviewer went in depth and mentioned the pros and the cons of the device . What they liked and what they didn’t like .

Lou on the other hand just mentions the cons in his review , any one who isn’t a blind follower could tell he is biased, when he starts his iPhone XS review with horror music you know he’s lost all credibility.

But as long as people like you are there who’d accept him as a messiah of the truth he can go on this way . I scout the apple forums all the time as an iPhone X user and I’ve not come across anyone who talked about a charging issue. Other youtubers like mkbhd said they couldn’t make videos of it cause their devices too were working perfectly fine. It’s awfully convenient how he is the only one with these faulty devices

I’m just an example of a person sane enough to know what device to buy, but hey who am I to judge right? At the end of the day, unboxtherapy is all about kicking back and watching Lou taking a deuce on iPhone in all its glory. I would be only insane to think about purchasing an iPhone let alone care, personally, about the review credibility.
People are only so thirsty to feed their egocentric pathetic selves for all the bad reasons. Yea right like “I’m getting an iPhone for it’s highly secure system” more like so I can beautify the hell out of my selfies so I feel better about my entire existence. Get woooook

I actually agree with you both. Lou is the guy that got a few million views on the iPhone plus bend test. He is not best friends with Apple and yes I agree with you he does not sugar coat especially when it comes to Apple products. He mentions in a video that Apple don’t like him and while he was hinting for an invite to there latest keynote, he wasn’t invited. I’m not saying he’s lying, I just think he would be more happy and spend more time pointing out Apple flaws than other devices. Look at some OnePlus ads/videos, who’ve flown him around the world to show up in some of there events. Anyway, subjective or not, I no longer watch his videos as often. He keeps dragging, less content and more drama. I get the same info in half the time with other youtubers.

yup they’re old school thats why i love them so much. they were Apple guys back when Apple was going bankrupt and Microsoft were bailing them out.
