Cheapest HDMI cable in Kuwait?

I think I’ve found the cheapest HDMI cable in Kuwait at Ace Hardware. The 2 meter cable cost only KD2.100 while the 3 meter version cost KD2.600. The previous cheapest I had found was at Lulu Hypermarket, KD3.950 for a 1.5 meter.

Note: With HDMI cables the cheapest transmits video as good as the most expensive.

Yep thats an awsome price. and from what iv read (never tested) is that with HDMI cables there is no such thing as a good or bad cable unlike analog.

Nope your are wrong here Ktdp. with digital it doesnt really matter its on or off there is no quality loss. with analog yes the better the cable the better quality it is. google it for more info in how digital signals work.

Quality plays a role here ..

If you’re gonna start comparing prices you wont finish..

Lets start with shani 150m cans:
Its 80 fils in T*C, while in ***** its only 75 fils
and im sure you can get it from shuwaikh wholesale markets for only 70 fils

so we repeat the same phrase again “Mark, just dont complain” lol ๐Ÿ™‚

i swear some times i find things over priced by about 10 K.D. and even 15 K.D. and it’s quite the same the saaaaaame ..

i.e. in Electronics:
Western Digital 320GB HDD in Al-Ghanim its 35 K.D.
While in Carrefour its only 25 K.D.

Quality of the cable does not play a major part in the quality of the image. With a digital signal, it’s all the signal or nothing. Although, the HDMI cable may be an older version (1.3b is the latest), and that could be why it is so cheap. If you look on Amazon, you can find the latest technology HDMI cable going for as low as 1c!(with shipping, of course).

with HDMI cables the cheapest quality transmits images as good as the highest quality.

HDMI is digital meaning it transmits information as 1’s and 0’s. If you send 101 from one side it will arrive as 101 to the other. There is no such thing as some of the 1’s arriving or some of the 0’s arriving and in return messing up the quality. The 1’s and 0’s either arrive to the other side or they don’t, simple as that.

This is a fact, if you hear otherwise its wrong. Don’t listen to salesman.

i got mine for 18KD :S

the difference wont be in the quality of transmission of the signal, but the quality of the cable itself.

The expensive gold plated ones would be rust resistant and will probably last for ages.

Also the ends of the cable are very durable and strong, so you wont have any problems with the cable not working over time (like having to bend the cable to make it work)

Good find mark.

And yes, I agree too, price does NOT effect quality – its just a cable.

And comment no.15: “The expensive gold plated ones would be rust resistant and will probably last for ages.” Rust resistant? Do you watch TV out in the rain or something? Who the heck would need a rust-resistant cable? And ANY cable… is fixed when its bought and that’s about it. No one takes it out a thousand times daily and plays with it. So as long as its fixed in one place – it should last a lifetime – irresespective of price.

I once got into an argument a while back when I was buying the PS3 from Rihab complex when it first came out (got it for 350KD – damn) and the salesman told me if I wanted a “Monster Cable” HDMI cable for 60 KD, I told him no thanks its not worth it. The guy next to me says “your buying a HD gaming system why not spend a few more KD and get the best experience”. Told him that “it wont make a difference, its digital, its all or nothing trust me”. He say’s “no trust me I know what I’m talking about, I just order a custom made 50m HDMI cable (back then it was 1.1 spec) for 400KD”. My response………”good for you”.

Moral of the story? do your own research for everything and google is your friend.

P.S. moster cable is still expensive.

Thanks for the info, Mark. I am surely gonna get this one, after reading your comments on 13 and 14.

Too bad can’t use a coat hanger as a substitute for HDMI as can be done for audio cable. Then I could stay in my house, keep off the roads, and keep the 2 KD in my wallet where it’s nice and comfy.

I learn the most useful things on this site. Now I know why the salesperson was so keen for me to buy the gold/monster cable when I bought a plasma/surround sound combo a few months back. They used the same “Pay a little (??!!) more to make the most of your system” argument. If I’d known then what I know know, I oculd have saved myself 50kd!

The only time price will matter when buying HDMI cables is when picking a version. The version indicates what the cables can do… Pick the version that matches your needs.

some people are saying it will last for ages. Hello, in this digital age nothing last for ages. You upgrade as the new one comes; Early or not you will upgrade!

Thanks for the post mark, My new HDTV will be happy from the component cable upgrade ๐Ÿ˜›

Does anyone know good shop with wide range of audio and video cables, cable converters etc. Before I remember there was one called RadioShack(?) i think in Hawally, but I cannot find it now.
