Dear Sultan Center,

Could you please introduce self checkout counters?

Thank you.

Well not everyone is going to self checkout, even in london you’ve got a line of people waiting to be checked out and another line of people who are self checking out

Please, no. I already get annoyed enough by retards who take 10 minutes just to figure out which button to press at the ATM.

DUDE!, they’re gonna have that at Carrefour Avenues!. I saw them put a construction box and it’s the perfect size for a self-checkout counter! =D

No, if they did have a self check-out system, it would be at the Carrefour in Dubai first and it is not. What I think you are seeing installed is a points card system, where the registers are integrated to automatically provide discount coupons. This is revolutionary as far as the Kuwait market goes; the Sultan could upgrade to new registers that provide the same service with their points card. And further why is it that the most residents in Kuwait do not understand 10 items or less line??

the system is flawed anyway. Theoretically if you are a couple you can have 20 items, if you are a family of 5 you can have 50 items since its 10 items per person.

I don’t know about discount coupon points :/ it looks like it could be a self-checkout. Y’know what, If you’re at Avenues sometime, see if you could tell it looks like a self-checkout or not.

Also, In Europe they have supermarket self-checkout and there’s always an employee there to help out customers with the machines.

It would be great…

a) If people at least put their groceries in the bags by themselves.

b) If they themselves carried the groceries to their car.

Have noticed people won’t even flinch a muscle till the bagger gets back from a previous customer.

EXACTLY! Thank you for that! But seeing as I have to literally wrangle my shopping bags free from workers who want to carry it for me and am rewarded with a dirty look because they think I’m cheap and don’t want to pay them a tip when I think it’s absolutely ridiculous that I am deemed too spoiled to carry a little bag with only milk and toast, I don’t see how is that going to happen and if it does, you will not get rid of shop assistants breathing down your neck as you are trying to checkout on your own!

Heck even in the cinema I find a guy waiting to take my card and insert it into the ticket kiosk! Thank you very much I can retrieve my own booking!

First a self checkout needs to be powered by a High End software application ,followed by a Cash and Card payment Terminal and i don’t think its easy for sultan center:)
Second the customers need to have a patience while using the terminal like the Item barcode is not working,Banknote was Rejected from the Machine during Payment and other issue..
Its a Good Concept but again everything works good it is implemented In a Good way …

lol yeah this is why your posts are considered long and yes my one liner post which I sent while waiting in line at Sultan Center gets more comments than your thoroughly researched and well written law posts. You owe me lunch.

LOL you realize you are about to sign a contract today right 😛
a wise man once said “number of comments on a post are not an indication of how good a post is”
yes I owe you lunch. please no more sushi though!

I like the self checkout idea — sometimes they don’t work even in the good ole USA — but would rather see Sultan figure out how to sell frozen products that were not previously thawed then refrozen and biscuits, crackers, etc that are not in micro pieces. I don’t mind Sultan’s inflated prices as much as I do the poor quality. Consequently we spend much less at Sultan than we used to and it’s the same for others I know.

There is Almond Milk (unsweetened) and Coconut Milk (unsweetened) at the Sultan Center in Souk Sharq, but it flies off the shelves. I am off dairy and can only drink this milk. For many years, I have been frustrated with the Kuwait market in general, because they don’t understand ‘supply and demand’. I have had many discussions with the Sultan. If you see that a product is moving, order accordingly, that is your business, ‘to sell food’. I especially get frustrated with the produce department. I think there may be alot of people in Kuwait that are allergic to milk and the market should understand that factor. All these stores with no inventory – get with the program!

Tender Fresh Coconuts are available at most of the Coops
Shaab/Dasman have it

or if tinned – Gulfmart / Lulu / TSC / Carrefour / Geant
even the local bakala stocks it.

I’ve seen coconut water in tall cans, though it has sugar added to it, also has coconut bits inside, a lot of smaller bakkalas usually have it in theit cold section. And Dean and Deluca has vita coconut water, which I think has just a little sugar added……..though it’s pricey.

I buy tinned coconut milk from Sultan Centre in Salmiyah – they even had reduced fat coconut milk last week. Took me ages to find it though!

oh man, SC has got nothing on spinney’s dubai,If they ever lunch here i’ll happily dump with no second thought.
