I haven’t tried this, its a theory but it seems like a full proof plan. Vodafone in New Zealand sell unlocked versions of the iPhone 3G, meaning unlike the US versions, they New Zealand iPhone would work here in Kuwait without needing to crack/hack it. Vodafone also sell the phone online on their New Zealand website and you can buy the phone using a Kuwaiti credit card without any issues but you can only ship it to a New Zealand address. Whats the solution? Get a New Zealand forwarding mailbox!

The price of the phone on the Vodafone website is KD212. With the fastest method for shipping (2-4 days) from New Zealand to Kuwait according to the forwading mailbox website it will cost you KD18. That means the phone with the price of shipping to Kuwait will be KD230. Pretty cheap.

I bought mine for $1400 from eBay Italy. It will cost you the same because you will need to ship it to Kuwait and this will probably cost a couple of hundred. Mine was delivered in two days only.
No it won’t cost the same. According to the mailforwarding website shipping it to Kuwait Express (meaning takes 2-4 days) will cost KD18. So KD212 + KD18 is KD230 which is $860… a big difference compared to paying 1400.
personally i’ll buy it from egypt its gonna be available in egypt soon through vodafone and mobinil(orange) and it’ll be unlocked too i asked a guy in a vodafone branch here in egypt he told me that they dont know yet but he heard rumors that it will be in the range of 150-200KD.i think that it will be cheaper than any other country in egypt because when it comes to cell phones egypt is the cheapiest country in the world to buy phones from .

Dont waste ur time after i created an acoount i went to the vodafone website and clicked on the iphone to buy then at the bottom there was a note that says “If you are a new Vodafone customer you’ll need to get a SIM card and plan for your new mobile before you can use it. ” ITS LOCKED !! it didnt mention even that it is unlocked !
u clicked on the locked version, i clicked on the unlocked version and got to the page where it asks for billing and shipping info

Thats not possible. The Apple Store in the US does not sell the unlocked iPhone 3G. And currently you can’t even unlock the US version of the iPhone 3G.
Oh and I don’t even think Apple Stores sell the iPhone 3G, you need to get it from AT&T

Ipod touch has the exact same things that an iphone has except for 3G and calling ! only if u want it as a mobile otherwise get the i pod touch it even looks better !! .. if u are Nokia users too there are good news on nokia TUBE which is Nokias first touch mobile and alot more specs compared to iphone

Apple does not sell officially unlocked iPhone 3G for $700, yet. Not AT&T either. However, soon AT&T is promising to sell iPhone 3G without contracts for $600 and $700 for the 8GB and 16GB ones, respectively. That deal is coming soon, and you will have to purchase it from AT&T and not Apple.

I’m not sure as to how the arrangement would be with AT&T. They could only be selling it at AT&T. They could even offer it online at the Apple store. No one knows at this point. :p

Well, Salah, I personally liked it cos it synced perfectly with all my applications. All of my calendar notes, reminders, email accounts, contacts are conveniently organized in one place that’s easily accessible.
Having some tunes to listen to and some videos to watch is a definite plus :p~ and I just loved the user interface, and all of those applications that are so easy to install. It was a perfect choice for me.

fkj: Google Maps and Voice Mail are the least important things for me on the iPhone. I used to hate the iPhone but now with 2.0 and all these cool apps plus cheap unlimited internet with Zain I can’t go back to using any other phone, not even the E71 which I now realized is seriously lacking in Internet related features and in interesting apps.

Maybe to you but I think KD13.5 for unlimited internet on my mobile phone is a pretty good deal.

Honestly not too sure about this. I heard their 7.2MB is actually 3.5G and I think the 13.5kd is 384/kb which is 3G. I just did a quick check on wikipedia and it seems to support that https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3g#Speed but i am not too sure about this..

I have the eGo to use for data on the move but I consider 13.5KD for 384KB on a mobile is too much to ask for (as I’m already consuming with phone calls).

i was in the states when iphone was released i had to stand at the queue for about 3 hours . to be able to get Iphone you have to have a social security number which i dont . Incase you have social security number you are allowed to buy only 3 Iphones so its really complicated. i saw some indian shops in NYC selling unlocked iphone for 1400$ like 3 days after the official release but i think its too expensive for it.

As of now, you cannot get an unlocked 3G iPhone in the States even at Apple store not even for $1000. I’ve just bought another 3G iPhone last Saturday from Apple store and they told me they don’t sell it unlocked. You need to sign up for a 2 year contract with AT&T and have a social security number. Apple store is just 45 min. away from where I live, if you don’t believe me then I will video record the store employee saying that 😉

I presume Jassim never produced the phone then. My wife bought a 3g in the US at the Apple store – you must sign up for a 2 year contract on the spot. It’s impossible to get an unlocked version in the US and there are no hacks to do it either from what I know (the pwnage tool for example doesn’t unlock it yet). Some countries are however obliged by law to offer unlocked versions, so look to Italy (I believe) as one possible source and a few other European countries.

It is said that if you Jailbreak your officially unlocked iPhone 3G [adding Installer app in the process] and look through it, you’ll find certain fixes and patches.
I don’t know if this has been tested yet, but I’m gonna try it on mine soon.

The New Zealand Website referred to for buying a Vodafone Unlocked iPhone will deliver ONLY to a street address and somebody has to receive physically the delivery and they WILL NEVER deliver to a BOX or a BAG – meaning the forwarding mail box is USELESS.
Unlocked iPhones are being sold over the internet BUT nobody is assured of SIM card compatibility – iPhone sold in the US are SIM-FREE (no place to put your SIM Card.
The forwarding box isn’t literally a box. Its a guy who receives it like a regular street address.
