Virgin Megastore which originally opened up in Marina Mall back in 2002 and then closed down in 2012 is now reopening again, but this time at The Avenues. Their new location is where the clothing store Express used to be located in Phase 1 and should (theoretically at least) prove to be a better location for them this time around.
Very few people know this but back in 2006 Virgin Kuwait bullied me and threatened to sue me over one of my posts. It’s a long story and made me dislike the brand and the company Azadea (who own the brand in the Middle East) for a very long time, but, I’m pretty glad they’re opening again since their Dubai store actually sells interesting things albeit overpriced.
No idea on when the opening will be.

I remember that, when you blogged about some controversial channel playing on their store television.
yes exactly!
link?
They made me delete all my posts
fight the power
My heart almost stopped
Can you tell us when its opened
I’m surprised to see them opening back here in Kuwait! The Marina branch allegedly closed because the Ministry of Information banned 60 percent of their products. Anyway, I hope the ministry allows them to sell CDs/vinyls here in Kuwait.
I don’t think it would be a problem selling cds and vinyls but in any case music is no longer a big part of Virgin and they can survive without it.
tbh its ridiculous for them to ban things because its “inappropriate” its the peoples choice to either buy the music or not same to the cinemas idk why they would cut every thing then still rate it 18+ or 13+ I mean there is a reason why you would cut the movies that’s one thing but keeping them at their original rat is another
FINALLY!!!!! 🤩 I hope they’ll bring comics and home video titles! 😭🙏🏻
So what’s the story? If they bullied you and threatened to sue you, why you happy for their return? And how can they sue you for your opinion?…
I don’t hold grudges
You did hold a grudge for a very long time though
How long did I hold the grudge for out of curiosity?
Lol, in your own words-
It’s a long story and made me dislike the brand and the company Azadea (who own the brand in the Middle East) for a very long time…
lol
The branch in Dubai is mostly selling electronics, toys, clothes, and other cool stuff. With a lower number of media products than before
So it should do fairly well in Kuwait in this time period
I still don’t understand how they managed to sell their items. Unclear concept, music CDs! Everything is overpriced!!
I have had couple of instances where i have had to deal with really rude staff whereby staff doesn’t have the knowledge and misled me with incorrect information then raised their voice when I went back and verified them wrong. Also issues such as asking me to pay extra when I just want to change size and stuff. Mostly even if the staff in not trained well my issue was with their behaviour and lack of customer skills. I shop a lot and have not had recurring issues with any other companies except azadea.
Why can’t they open in the Electra
This a much better location imo, because it’s across from Carrefour. Also, Electra already has Geekay Games and Geek Nation, and other electronics stores.
Can you remind us if its gonna open?
Virgin in Lebanon and Dubai is more of a novelty store now. I remember how I used to go there to buy music and instruments. Anyways, lets see how it goes!
Why call it Megastore when it’s anything but?
Yes that’s the word I want to nit-pick
I remember when i went to Virgin at Marina Mall to buy this is it CD by Michael jackson… thats was the last time i went to Virgin (2009)
I remember they made an issue about ozzy osbourne life story book where he was pooping on a toilet and holding a brick of coke while sticking his tongue out
OMG when it’s gonna open I wish that I’ll find Katy and Ariana albums
Virgin kuwait is a big disappointment the only thing worth buying there is the classic vinyl player
