You Don’t Need a Credit Card to Shop on Amazon.com

Not sure if you guys are aware but you can actually use your Knet debit card to purchase stuff from Amazon.com (and other U.S. websites). Your Knet card is actually a Visa debit card and you can plug it into credit card payment forms and it will go through just like a regular credit card except the amount gets deducted right away from your bank account.

Prepaid cards are much better, you put in as much money as you want and you don’t have to worry about extra charges or having your card/money stolen.

Absolutely agree. Last week I ordered a book on Amazon. Some error they were trying to ship it twice.
Luckily i had put just enough on my NBK prepaid card to avoid such issues.

I started getting messages saying balance not sufficient. when I called NBK they said dont worry sir one order is deducted. Did you order it again?

With all these online scams, never use your debit card online. Very dangerous

Amazon isn’t trying to steal your money though. If for some odd reason you got charged twice usually the second charge gets refunded into your account automatically. If not Amazon would refund you the money back. I’ve been buying stuff online since 1998 and never had an issue with any of my cards, just use a bit of common sense and you’ll be fine. Calling shopping online “Very dangerous” is a bit naive (no offense).

Some banks still use the old generation of debit cards which don’t have CVC. So not all debits cards would work.

One thing about Visa/Mastercard is that you are protected from any fraud. If a hacker breaks into a website and steals your credit card details, any fraudulent transaction they make will not hurt you financially. A bank’s debit card does not offer the same protection. This can be significant difference, especially if you have just one bank account with sizable savings.

You should get in touch with Alghanim International, I know that their IT team was working to bring Amazon to Kuwait.

It seems to be surprisingly reasonable. My accounts are all UK and it seems you can only get US credit over here so I buy my xbox / switch / iTunes credit as prepaid cards from the UK using my NBK debit card. Buying the credit direct on amazon seems to actually cost less than the equivalent exchange rate through XE on that day, and then there’s usually a 1KD charge so very reasonable to me.
