Archery Lessons for Expats in Kuwait

archery

Does anyone know where expats can get archery lessons in Kuwait? I contacted the Kuwait Archery National Team on Facebook asking about lessons and they told me the Kuwait Shooting Federation offers lessons but it’s only for Kuwaitis.

I checked regarding the same a year ago, same answer. Only for citizens, cannot understand why. Kinda sucks.
I was also informed you cannot import practice bows here as its classified as weapon.

Yet expats can go to the mayadeen shooting range and practise their skills with guns! So does this mean, the arrow is mightier than the gun?

A while ago I wanted to resume my archery career that I put on hold long time ago and was so happy when I found out about the Olympic shooting complex off the 5th ring road. Unfortunately my enthusiasm was quickly killed when I was told that:
A. I need to be Kuwaiti
B. I need to be younger than 27

Unfortunately I am far from both.

As someone also mentioned, you can’t practice by yourself as the bow is classified as a weapon.

Dear magdy,
I am a resident of kuwait and would like to join your archery training. Please can I contact you in any way?

What is the name of the private company? My family and I are moving to Kuwait in August and would like to be able to still practice our archery skills. We have compound bows, can we bring them with us and if yes, what is the best way for me to bring them, mail or on airplane? Can we bring our target arrows?

mark i have a license to practice archery and managed to get my archery kit with me to Kuwait, the kit it self is not banned but only a specific type of arrow head is, i also know a guy that sells archery bows on instgram located in kuwait, also plenty of people i know do have bows and arrows you just have to make sure you dont get ‘pointy arrows’ get the practice ones and you should be fine, as for practice areas lets just say you can practice anywhere away from people and as long as your arrows dont go flying everywhere, you can also order a specific net online that stops your arrows incase it misses its target, i tend to use an old rug which does an amazing job in absorbing the power of the arrow.

you can purchase BOW and arrows online, and they deliver to kuwait, no special anything require, however keep in mind that you can’t join Archery in kuwait for expats.

but you can practice it on ur own

It doesn’t even make sense financially, why wouldn’t they accept expats and take their money? They can make more profit that way. Instead they complain about how expats are taking Kuwaiti money and not paying tax, just reaping the benefits.

Oh please do let me know if you get any info!
I’ve been wanting to learn forever!
BTW mrbabu.com declines orders for anything archery related (even gloves). And Decathlon had mentioned that they could place a special order for the Bow but would not be able to get the steel tip arrows, only soft tip arrows.

(To the comments moaning about rascism)

Oh really!? Did you know that you also need to be Kuwaiti to join the parliament!? Considering the number of expats in Kuwait, you need at least 5 representatives in the parliament and maybe even a minister or two.

You need to be Brazilian to play on the National Brazilian football team, you need to be Spanish to play on the Spanish National team and you need to be Lebanese to play on the Lebanese National team. How is this any different!?

I’m getting sick of this. You know what I think. Yes, a lot of Kuwaitis are spoilt and have attitude but you know what, a lot of expats living in Kuwait aren’t any better and are becoming more and more insecure and paranoid.

What if you were in Europe and was refused to join a National club, would you bitch about that?

Expatriates everywhere in the world are allowed to take shooting and archery lessons. For example, expatriates in the UAE are allowed to take archery and shooting lessons, and participate in archery and shooting lessons.

Racism or not, Kuwait is unique in this regard.

Ok, I know this is a bit late but…
1) No one in the comments said anything about wanting to be part of the National team. People just want to practice some sports.

2) The club can still hold some practice sessions for those intrested to try out or practice archery and gain a lot form it.

@ MK
just out of curiosity, how many nationals play in the Kuwait cricket team?
Good sir, based on your logic of being national to play in the national team, i am sure you reference Diego Costa, Lukas Podolski, Neven Subotic etc… πŸ™‚

They don’t offer lessons for Kuwaitis. You have to sign up to be part of the team which means you need to attend all training sessions plus you need to be within their age requirements.

Guys & gals,

Some good news is on the way for all archery enthusiasts (Kuwaitis and Expats).

Very soon a private archery will open (probably by July end) which will be open for all. So all can learn and also practice.

Will update the progress.

Hi, are we really getting an archery range open to expats? Very exciting! Can’t wait to hear. We are just moving here from Alaska and would like to bring our archery stuff with us, especially since we can’t bring our guns.

Guys, Mayadeen is working on preparing the archery range. And just awaiting the Ministry of Interior clearance. Probably just a couple of months more. Then the expats and Kuwaitis can start practicing archery very soon. Insha-allah. Do keep checking with the Mayadeen desk for updates.

Well, till now Archery in Kuwait is the exclusive domain of the Kuwaitis.

But, we are working with a private club, Mayadeen, to start archery for one and all.

Yes, that is for expats and Kuwaits and all visitors.

We hope to get the necessary permissions from the government authorities soon. It is being delayed, but we are persistent, till we get it.

And hopefully, we can have the sessions starting from Nov. Inshallah.

All the best to the archery enthusiasts in Kuwait.

if you can help in anyway, you are welcome to lend a helping hand.

Dear Rajesh,
I hope that you and your family are well. Thank you for the information about Mayadeen. Can you suggest how we should bring our compound bows and arrows to your country, on the airplane or ship them via mail? Thank you very much for your information and help.
Sincerely,
Nora

Can I bring my compound bow and arrows with me from America to Kuwait? What is the best way to transport them into Kuwait?
