The weather was great this morning so I headed out with Nat and some friends up to the mountains for a bit of snowmobile fun. I shot some video with my Contour+ which I’ll be editing and hopefully uploading tonight along with information on where and how you can also rent a snowmobile on your next trip to Lebanon. If you’ve never done it before you should, it’s kinda like jet skiing except way more fun.
Update: I couldn’t get the editing done tonight so it’s going to have to wait till I get back to Kuwait tomorrow night.

You should get a go pro hd hero 2! Much better then contour and also takes 1080 p and is much smaller!! 115KD at go sport avenues!
Why do u think it’s better? All cams shoot 1080p that’s like a basic requirement. Personally tried the gopro series and in the end my options were down to either the replay xd1080 or the contour+, as you can see went with the contour+. Size wise it’s perfect.
I Know but you can change the settings to make it 170° wide or 90° narrow pretty cool, also it takes 11MP photos with a fixed f/2.8 lens, 10 photo per second burst mode, its also waterproof to 60M, its the best thing Ive bought! Cant wait for spring! Going to Sharm for some scuba diving and Jet skiing!
Well changing the settings from less wide to wide is a lot different than being able to rotate the lens. If you mount the Go Pro upside down or sideways you’re going to end up with an upside down or sideway footage. The Contour+ also has a bright f/2.8 lens and is also waterproof to 60m with the waterpoof case which i have. The case also has a tripod mount which is super helpful. I also got the universal mount for the contour (which is a tripod mount). The only advantage really the Hero 2 has is the 10 photo per second burst mode which I’ve already requested from Contour and they’re hopefully gonna try and have it in the next firmware update.
Oh and the contour support is amazing but honestly i havent tried the GoPro support to compare. They have a forum and you just go in ask questions or whatever and they’ll respond to you right away. Great stuff.
Actually in the GoPro you can make upside down footage be upside up from the settings but rotating nope. but the tripod mount is also available…
I just read an article on Engadget about the GoPro Hero 2. I too, was torn between GoPro and Contour but I think the GoPro is closer to my budget. Both cameras have advantages over each other. It just depends on what you’re looking for in a camera.
Here’s a link to the article:

The Contour+ video quality is better than the original GoPro Hero but closer to the new GoPro Hero 2. My reason for choosing the Contour+ over it was easy… the form. The Contour series is a lot easier to mount and use when compared to the GoPro’s. For one thing I can mount my cam upside down, side ways, tilted, whatever way I want and I just rotate the lens so that the video comes out straight.
My second reason for going with the Contour+ is iPhone compatibility. With the Contour App my iPhone becomes the cameras viewfinder so I can see what the camera sees and mount it the way I want. I can also change the camera settings, exposure, video format etc.. on the fly from within the app.
