Where to Service your Bicycle

Since the weather is getting cooler I decided to get my bike serviced in preparation for riding season. After having the bicycle parked during the long hot summer months, all the cables tend to loosen up, the gearing lubrication dries up, and all the air leaks out of the tires and shocks.

Luckily, I live walking distance from an Extreme Sports shop, so whenever I see the weather cooling down, I just walk my bike over to them to get it serviced. They’re my favorite place to service my bike mostly because they know their bikes, the guys who work there are super nice, plus they carry good brands in case I need to upgrade a part or purchase a new accessory. Once I get my bike back from them it tends to look and feel brand new.

So if your bike is lying around gathering dust and you want to get it ready for riding season, I’d recommend you take it to Extreme Sports. Their Salmiya location [Google Maps] tend to have the bike serviced and ready in under 24 hours and the cost is KD15. Here is a link to their instagram @extremesportskw

Where do you ride? My path was Scientific Center to Kuwait Towers and back. Now I feel it’s far too dangerous. More than one person got run over in the past couple of years on that same path.

How do they get run over? Cars aren’t allowed on the walking path. Unless they’re riding on the street which is silly and dangerous. I ride from Corniche to Kuwait Towers and back, it’s super safe and there is a non-stop pathway.

Hi Mark,
I am a cycling enthusiast too while I was in Dubai. I haven’t bothered getting one here, since I was used to renting the expensive ones in Dubai. Do you happen to know if anyone/anyplace would rent cycles for the day/week/month?

Decathlon in Marina mall does a full service, brake pads wheels cables, wash the entire bike for only 10kd. i do it like every 3 months

Cyclo https://www.instagram.com/cyclo.q8/ they service your bike for only 5KD and it shouldn’t take more than 3 hrs and they carry good brands and they know what they’re doing. why would I pay 15KD for a mountain bike service that cost 150-200KD? 15KD is 10% of the bike’s price. Its like you buy american or Japanese car for 10,000KD and they take 1,000KD for service. bullshit

Going by your logic 5KD is bullshit!! that’s 10% of the bike price if the bike costs 50!!!

It’s not about the cost of the bike, there is a guy across from Extreme Sports that will service your bike for 5KD. Lots of options but I prefer taking my bike to Extreme Sports. ✌🏻

Can you recommend a place to get a bike carrier for my Sequoia? It’s got the spoiler on it so the guys at Decathlon don’t recommend the carrier that straps to the top and sides of the tailgate because the weight with the bikes could break the spoiler.
