well, most likely you’ll be getting in addition to the bathroom a bedroom with king size bed, internet access, telephone, tv.. just like a hotel or something.

Oh the absurdity of the price tag. It’s like they want to offer something before anyone else, even though they haven’t overcome the cost to reach feasibility.

a shower for $18,000 ? in an airplane?… my f00t. Why would I need to take a shower in a flight anyways?
In the summer probably I’m flying back home with Emirates airways. The flight is about 15 hours, direct, non-stop. Even in such a long flight, I don’t see the need of taking a shower… let alone when it costs $18,000! lol
What happens when there is turbulence, most probably grab your towel and get back in your seat ?!
Reading between the lines in the original article, I believe the $18,000 is the cost of the first-class ticket; not just for the shower. Those who pay that amount for the ticket, get entitled for the hot shower.
Which makes a whole lot more sense. Emirates is not that that stupid to charge separately just for the shower. Can you imagine it? There’s this shower attendant next to the shower with a credit card swiping machine who goes “Oh, you want to have a shower, may I have your credit card please? Sign here sir.. thank you. enjoy your shower. And here’s a complimentary fresh towel”!!!
Cajie I don’t think that its including the ticket. The article talks about the shower being an additional service which costs about $18,000.
According to the article..

Unless clarified that the $18000 is just for the shower, it can be interpreted both ways.
My bet is that the $18000 is the cost of the first class ticket with the shower as a facility within the first class cabin; much like the full-size bed configured on the Singapore airlines.

I just checked Emirates website. A first class return ticket from Dubai to US is only $8000. So $18,000 for a better seat and a hot bath seems just the ticket 🙂
Some people still feel “special” if they sit in a first class seat… a seat is a seat is a seat.
Advertisement and propaganda for the weak minded sheep that spends that much on the privilege just to sit on a glorified leather seat for a few hours.

sfsa78, I just want to clarify one thing…
one you travel on first class you dont just get “leather seat”. everything starts the minute you arrive to the airport. at some airports they have a separate buildings where first class travelers can do their check in quickly and away from the crowds at the other check in terminals.
after you check in, and while everyone else are running to a seat in front of the gate, you get to go to the first class lounge up freshen up and have a bite, watch tv, read news papers or surf the net on a very comfortable couch. this is really good especially if the flight get delayed.
now the airplane seats come, and yeah i do agree its crazy if someone stay in first class when traveling for few hours. but if you’re traveling for 8 hours or more then its very good. you get comfortable big chair that you can actually lay back on and have a good sleep, plenty of leg room, clean toilets, and airhost with big bowebs.
and finllay, after the very long flight, u’d be the first to get off the plane.
