Now that Kuwait Airways has new planes and a new terminal, they’re finally catching up to other airlines and adding more destinations. They’re starting off with two right now, Guangzhou (China) and Sabiha (Turkey). Bizarre destinations but I guess there must be high demand for them. They’ll also soon be adding flights to:
Casablanca, Morocco
Nice, France (via Paris)
Larnaca, Cyprus (via Beirut)
Sarajevo, Bosnia
Baku, Azerbajan
Tbilisi, Georgia
I’d personally want to see European destinations like Amsterdam, Berlin, Moscow and Zagreb, but direct flights to Morocco is actually pretty cool.
Has anyone flown Kuwait Airways recently? The main old terminal never has any traffic anymore, but I’ve heard the Kuwait Airways Terminal now gets super busy with long queues at passport control. Also did anything new open up there, or is it still just Costa?

probably for the same reason they don’t fly to LA probably or South America, they might not have planes that can fly that long.

The 777 has that range and next month will commence delivery of the new airbus aircrafts which also have that range. Range isn’t the issue, you could always stop in Manila for refuelling, demand to and from Australia is extremely limited and you have to remember that not many people want to fly a dry airline even though drinking in the air isn’t healthy (doesn’t stop me though. I always get a double cognac cause people flying to Kuwait don’t drink. #haram).
I think adding Kathmandu to the list would be a rational choice seeing as we have a sizable Nepali community here and Kuwaitis who want a “life changing experience” are all going there these past few years.
Been through the new terminal a few times and the immigration was actually quite a breeze…hardly any lines.
Not much besides costa though!

They are also considering Manchester. We have so many students in the north and Manchester airport has trains that go directly into the station. Did you know that the gulf high speed train, the international train link (by China if they make Kuwait a hub. Which they are considering) and the metro will stop right under Kuwait airport? That is bloody brilliant!
I flew in from bangalore couple of weeks ago. The flight parked near amiri terminal so had to take the bus in. All in we took about 30 mins to get out of the airport after landing (not bad since i had to take visa on arrival for one of my kids).
However, ours was the only flight to land around that time so clearance may get longer when there are flights back to back.
Guangzhou is a business hub and Sabiha has excellent real estate properties. Maybe these flights are targeted towards businesspeople? Cool to see direct flight to Morocco tho!
Is there a city in Turkey called Sabiha? When i search on Google it just shows the Sabiha Gokcen airport
There isn’t. Sabiha Gokcen is the second airport in Istanbul.
They opened up a mini Starbucks kiosk. And there’s a “Coming Soon” for the actual Starbucks outlet.
Is there any news of them joining an alliance (e.g. Sky Team, Star Alliance, etc.)?
When I was passing thru on Arrivals, I noticed a Duty Free shop opened in Departures.
So many people in Kuwait go to Guangzhou to buy products for their companies, as it is an industrial city, so it makes sense since the demand is high. And from there, you can also go to other major Chinese cities

Tehran, Baghdad and Jerusalem for old times sake.
Kathmandu, Goa, Mauritius, Bali and Marsa Alam in Egypt for those national and liberation day getaways.

I just had my first experience with Kuwait Airways when I flew to Rome. It finally felt like we have a proper airport in Kuwait and the plane itself was actually not bad at all. It really felt like any other airlines. We did have an hour delay in Rome though on the way back for technical issues and the Kuwaiti pilot could use some courses to improve his English but other than that I was actually impressed.
