Amazon will ship PS4 and Xbox One directly to Kuwait

If you’re eager to get your hands on a PS4 or an Xbox One on launch day without having to pay ridiculous Kuwait launch day prices this is probably your best option. You can pre-order the consoles from Amazon AND Amazon will ship them directly to Kuwait bypassing your US forwarding mailbox (Shop&Ship/Borderlinx) and saving you a ton on shipping.

According to Amazon, shipping either of the two consoles to Kuwait via their AmazonGlobal Priority Shipping (averages 3-7 days) will cost you just KD14. If you’re interested here are the links to Amazon:

The PS4 launch edition have sold out within 24-hours, Standard edition is available abut there are some launch bundles available. Sure, they might cost a little more, but who wants a console without games right??
I preordered my PS4 Watch Dogs Launch Bundle.. cant wait!!!

Unless it is door to door shipping, you will have to pick it up from the central PO in Kuwait with your civil ID and the tracking number.

Better hope they supply a tracking number as I have had more than one parcel from Amazon where the shipping company they used did not provide tracking. It is impossible to pick up a parcel in Kuwait without a tracking number. I had to get Amazon to refund me.

What about the warranty issue? Is it a global warranty? Because it’s always a good idea to have warranty for the first edition in case of hiccups.

I am not usually an early adopter of consoles. First year usually suck for each console. But I am sure the shipping rates will be expensive and not worth it.

Question 1: Will I have to go pick it up at Keifan Ministry of Communications and then go and pay charges at the Kuwait Port Authority. That’s usually a 3 hour battle including added charges (5% of total amount minus shipping charges). And just imagine 1000 guys also purchase through Amazon and you’ll be side by side with them going through the whole process trying to get your PS3 out. It will be a really crowded and long day.

Question 2: Will the power supply be a universal voltage? i.e. 110-240v. I couldn’t find any information about it on Sony’s site so if it does turn out to be only 110v then you’ll have to buy a massive converter as an extra cost.

Biggest concern: Warranty.

I need these two questions answered before I decide to make a purchase through Amazon. 🙂

PS3 was 110-240, can’t imagine they’d change it but nobody knows for sure at this point.

Also yeah if you have to go through customs :/

So, it’ll cost around 145k.d. to order watchdogs bundle and delivered here, the MAIN question is….

what is the OUTLET 240v? or 120v? cause we might need a converter.

I just bought my ps3 few months back with 13 DVD’s and it’s still lying there gathering dust.

No way am I going to buy this if I don’t have time to play. I’ll just wait for a busy person to buy it first and then sell it after a few months when he realizes that he doesn’t have time to play too.

Be advised, The console you buy on Amazon could be region locked for North America regarding Blu ray movies.

I’m waiting for the ME-North Africa release.

PS4 is region free..which means games bought in or imported from any region will play on any PlayStation 4 console.

Region free for games, not Blu-Ray movies. There is still region locking when it comes to Blu-Rays and DVDs.
My Blu-Ray copy of Shigurui is sitting here unwatched because I bought it in the US and when I came back here to Kuwait the PS3 just spat the Blu-Ray out saying it won’t work in this region.

The company has confirmed that PS4 will be region-free. You are right Yousef. Presumably, this covers games only, and not Blu-ray movies.
However blu-rays are usually multi region anyway so it sounds like there’s little to worry about.

For such a release I rather go through Aramex, and at least guarantee the shipment will arrive. Kefan is too unreliable, and unpredictable to use for something like a PS4. Unless someone confirms the priority service is UPS/DHL/FedEx. Judging from the price I am willing to bet it’s USPS EMS service which means Kefan.

Don’t let the price fool you. Abercrombie for example charge just $20 for shipping no matter how much you order from them and they ship with FedEx. Tirerack.com and quadratec.com also ship to Kuwait via FedEx and their shipping prices are also ridiculously cheap.

True, that said you still “in my view” running the risk of the package going to Kefan. I would use Kefan on small items that I generally do not care if they get lost or not. As another person earlier commented if you do not have a tracking number, you are pretty much screwed, and ultimately delayed in enjoying your new purchase of the PS4.

Me:I have a quick questions regarding Amazon Global Priority Shipping.

Balaji:Hello, my name is Balaji. I’ll be happy to help you.

Me:What shipping company do you use for Amazon Global Priority Shipping?

Balaji:We currently use IMEX, DPGM / DHL Global Mail, I-Parcel, Aramex, MSI, and DPGM_TNT for international Standard or Expedited shipments.

Me:Do you provide a tracking number?

Balaji:Yes

Me:great, thanks for your help

Thanks for clearing that up Mark. That said I still have doubts, as you may have noticed they did not say DHL, they said DHL Global mail. DHL Global Mail from the explanation I got from their website (https://us.dhlglobalmail.com/international-mailing-and-shipping-services.aspx) says they offer businesses a service wherein they will come, and pick up the package, and drop it off with the poster (which is in the US is still USPS). DPGM TNT is not TNT, it’s a similar service in which DPGM stands for Deutsche Post Global Mail. The only one I would trust to mail it express from your list is Aramex. Knowing Aramex they will still lump this with the shop and ship cargo, and you will wait the same time as shop and ship customers. The rest of the companies I have never heard of. Has anyone actually tried Amazon Global Priority Shipping, and can give us some clear feedback if this is door to door service or pickup from Kefan?

Even if Aramex lump it up with their cargo and you have to wait as long as shop&ship customers you’re forgetting the fact that you’ll only be paying KD14 for shipping while S&S customers will be easily paying KD30+

Most importantly though you get a tracking number so if it’s not door to door and instead you need to pick it up from Kefan it still means you’ll get the package.

For arguments sake I will using the PS3 as an example. For it’s size, and weight you will be paying KD22.50 for shipping using shop and ship. In both cases you will have to pay KD2 fees plus 5% customs. That’s a premium of KD8.500 as opposed to the KD14 you will be paying with Amazon.

That said it is still a role of the dice on whether Amazon will be using Aramex. If again for arguments sake they do decide to send it to Kefan, you are under the mercy of the system here in Kuwait. Remember tracking ends after it leaves the US. The procedure here is that once it arrives you get one phone call. If you miss it you will not get a second call. Then you have to head over there, and hope that the employee did not make a mistake in keying in the tracking number, because if they get it wrong your package is lost for good. So this begs the question is the difference of KD8.500 worth not going through the headache of Kefan? I say yes with all my heart.

For arguments sake I wouldn’t use the latest mini PS3 as an example. I would use the original PS3 which was bigger and heavier and closer to size and weight of the PS4.

Shipping original PS3 to Kuwait with Shop&Ship would cost 39.00 KWD

So that’s a KD25 difference. Consider the fact by shipping directly to Kuwait and not the S&S NY mailbox you also won’t have to pay the NY State tax and that’s another KD10 saving which brings the total to KD35. More likely it’s a bigger saving since the shipping weight on Amazon is usually less than the shipping weight Aramex calculates plus you have Aramex’s customs fees and clearance fees etc…

True using the PS3 slim is not the correct weight, and size for comparision. I did a quick search, and I found the following site:
https://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=582996

The PS4 is still significantly smaller than the original PS3, and yet slightly bigger than the PS3 slim.

PS4: 30.5 x 27.5 x 5.3
PS3 Slim: 29 x 29 x 6.5

You are correct in reminding me about the sales tax, which as you stated comes out to being KD10.

Again if you believe the savings justify Kefan then I cannot argue with that.

Sorry, my experience with Amazon was the following and this was books:

It is not under our control which shipper we use. Some use tracking numbers and some do not. Your shipper did not. I can run it through again but I still cannot guarantee it will be a shipper with a tracking number.

I then asked for a refund.

Which shipping option did you choose?

Standard International Shipping (averages 18-32 days)

AmazonGlobal Expedited Shipping (averages 8-16 business days)

AmazonGlobal Priority Shipping (averages 3-7 days)

According customer support with Priority Shipping you get tracking number.

Good point. Honestly can’t remember but I am guessing Global Expedited which may be the reason for the problem.

No there won’t be any backward compatibility. However, there is talk of offering them in a download format down the line, which means you might have to pay for them again.

You are right. It just takes a second and this was their response. This was for three paperback books which was not shipped with a tracking number. I phoned customer service and their reply was..

It is not under our control which shipper we use. Some use tracking numbers and some do not. Your shipper did not. I can run it through again but I still cannot guarantee it will be a shipper with a tracking number.

This was shipped from UK but I can’t see that Amazon policy should differ where worldwide shipping is concerned. It is not Amazon that provides the tracking number it is the shipper. So it really depends if the shipper offers to track.

ISP can be faked with certain routers and use of a paid proxy server from the router itself.

Can’t do much about cable TV though….

Yeah it makes sense for Netflix definitely. I still find it less of a hassle to just torrent things instead of fiddling with that.

CAREFUL WITH BUYING A NEW XBOX ONE.

Microsoft gave a list of countries where the Xbox One would work. None of the Middle East is on that list. They straight up said “It won’t work outside of these markets” Although there is still time for them to change their minds.

Also it comes with a camera and microphone that are always on pointed at you that you can’t unplug or the system won’t work 🙂 Have fun

They didn’t take everything back. It still costs more than the PS4 for a weaker system, it still needs the Kinect to connected at all times, it still might not work outside certain countries (by their own admission). It doesn’t need a 24 hour connection but that wasn’t the only problem.

its 100 buck more expensive because it comes with the kinect

and “weaker system” is just ur opinion.

both consoles almost have the same gut inside.

plus ps network is shit .. (no offence)

Hello. I just wanted to know, how much is the Xbox One gonna be? I heard on Rehab its gonna be 195KD
Which is NO WAY!
I heard from my friend its gonna be 160KD. Is that right? Thanks. Happy Ramadan guys.

For any late comers, I believe the Sony stores in Kuwait will order it for you, shouldn’t cost much more then getting it from Amazon, or just about the same.

I believe it’s region free as well, so you’re set (for games, don’t know about blu-rays).

Hi Mark,

just read this few days ago and tried buying directly from Amazon (global express) and it work and it’s super fast.

I was surprised when I got my package completely sealed and unopened, I was very happy because Aramex treat us like criminal or something even when we buy stuff from Amazon.

So I just wanted to say Thank you for this article

yes exactly, DHL and UPS for Priority international shipments + tracking number.
I did ask Amazon about AmazonGlobal Priority Shipping as Mark did and thats what I got:
