Level-Up Online Video Game Store

When it comes to purchasing video games online locally, my two go-to places are usually GamesQ8 and Alfuhod. They tend to offer prices similar to what you’d find at Rihab Complex, and so are a good alternative to me going there. But, recently another online store popped up called Level-Up that’s run by gamers and has pretty competitive prices. I checked out a few different games and I found that they were usually always cheaper than Alfuhod and sometimes cheaper than GamesQ8. Here are some random examples:

Anthem (PS4 R2)
Level-Up: KD17.5
GamesQ8: KD18
Alfuhod: KD18.5

Resident Evil 2 (Xbox One R2)
Level-Up: KD15.5
GamesQ8: KD15
Alfuhod: KD18.5

Jump Force (PS4 R2)
Level-Up: KD13.9
GamesQ8: KD15
Alfuhod: KD15.9

Super Mario Bros.u Deluxe (Switch)
Level-Up: KD18.5
GamesQ8: KD16.5
Alfuhod: KD19.5

The one thing to keep in mind though is if you want same day delivery, Level-Up charge KD2.5, but offer free next day delivery. Alfuhod, on the other hand, offers free same day delivery while GamesQ8 charge KD1.

So although Level-Up aren’t always the cheapest, they could be which is why they’re worth checking the next time you want to buy a game online. Here is the link to their [Website]

why? while we can trade in or buy new games from Al Rehab, so do most of the shops can deliver now within a couple of hours

I am not talking about any online stores, I am talking about those physical stores at Al Rehab Mall at Hawalli

Go digital, there’s no point in buying physical versions of games anymore since most of them require day one update downloads. Invest in getting a bigger memory card for the Switch and upgrading the PS4/Xbox hard drives, it’ll be cheaper in the long term!

What a retarded comment.

A lot of people across the world still don’t have steady fibre or DSL internet to go digital plus you can get physical discs for cheaper prices. What would you do if your account gets banned(not necessarily for your mistake)? You will lose it all.

So here to summarize

Cons

You don’t own the games you buy because the “license” you purchased can be revoked at any time.

Sony’s customer service is shit so if something happens to your account you are shit out of luck.

You can’t sell or trade your game.

Your buddy can’t borrow your games unless they install and log in under your profile.

You will probably have to buy a larger hard drive to compensate for all the digital purchases.

The download times.

Digital gaming is more expensive I believe in the long run, as prices don’t get lowered as much as physical, despite digital costing less to produce

Don’t have the satisfaction of seeing the huge physical backlog of games you will never finish.

Pros

You don’t have to strain your poor body by moving a couple feet to change the disc in your system then have to move a couple feet back to flop back onto your bed to finish your second back of party size flaming hot cheetos.

As a proud Switch owner, as I should be, I mostly purchase games digitally to utilize the portable nature of the masterpiece Nintendo produced. Of course when it comes to elite games, such as Pokémon, Smash, Zelda or Mario games I break the rule and go for the physical copies of the games.

We’re talking about Kuwait here not some random third world country with dial up internet. But I’m also pro buying discs over downloads mostly because they’re usually cheaper especially when you can sell them as well as lend them. But I also like digital, over the National holidays I downloaded Battlefield V for $29 which is cheaper than going to rehab and buying the game.

No No. Of course I use digital games myself too at times when there are some good PSN or Xbox Store discounts.

I just got triggered with his comment 😛

What a way to start a discussion, great job.

We’re talking about our situation in Kuwait, where fast, reliable internet isn’t that expensive anymore, I pay 10 KD per month to use Zain’s LTE Bolt device in an area that generally has poor reception, it’s not as fast as my friends Bolt device in a different area, but it does the job.

I’ll go through your points separately:

Get banned by mistake: How many times does this happen? Rarely. If you happen to be one of the unlucky few that this happens to, if you call Sony’s, Nintendo’s or Microsoft customer service lines, they will help you after you answer some security questions. I know this because there are a few situations when someone gets hacked and they want to get their account back.

Not “owning” games: Hate to break it to you but you don’t own the physical games you buy either. If a publisher doesn’t want you to play a game there are different ways they can go about it. Once we went 100% online, this notion of ownership went out the door.

Sony’s customer service is actually not bad if you call them instead of dealing through emails.

Not trading or selling games: I agree with this, but then again, I prefer keeping the games I buy because “ownership”.

Borrowing games: Maybe this would be an issue if I was still in high school, but I can’t remember the last time I lent or borrowed a game. The advantage of going fully digital is most games eventually go on sale.

Hard drives: Like a said, in the long term you’re saving money.

The download times: You can pre-load new games before release so you can play them the moment they’re out.

Digital games being more expensive: I’m assuming you don’t have much experience with digital games then. I just bought Mario + Rabids for $20 on the Switch. You can get Dragon Ball FighterZ on the PS4 for around $23 now, Far Cry 5 for $21, and so on.

I have over 70 Xbox 360 games I’ve been trying to get rid of. Do you want them?

When Red Dead Redemption 2 first came out there was a mandatory 90+ GB download that physical disc owners had to go through, this is a common occurrence so you’re dealing with inconvenient downloads anyways. There’s really no reason to continue purchasing new physical games

I actually bought RDR2 ultimate physical directly from Rockstar warehouse and got it here by postaplus. But I never had any 90gb day one download.

@ Patrick, remember the story how one person had movies on their iTunes account removed and all iTunes did was give them free rentals? How is that any different with video games? Imagine a publisher removing their content from online platforms and you can’t ever access them again, what will you do then? And the same thing happened with the Sonic the Hedgehog comics from Archie Comics, they’re no longer available in print or digital because the license from Sega was revoked, now how will people be able to access these comics again? Digital Content is a double-edge sword combined with Russian roulette; you never know what’s going to happen next!

One more advantage of going fully digital is you can full refunds of games if there are any issues and if you’re that kind of person, you can a full refund of a game you dislike.

One further Pro (For PC users atleast), is that on the platform “Steam” you can actually get a full refund no matter the reason as long as you played the game for less than 2 hours.

Meaning that even if you bought the game and simply didn’t like the first impressions, no problem! you get your money back.

Went digital. Never looked back.
I can buy a game and my brother can play it on his ps4 in india too (my account is secondary). The internet speeds in india have caught up.
The ps plus discounts are excellent. only wish nintendo had similar sales.
Also i dont have to worry about the discs getting damaged and i know the game will stay forever in my account. Also not worrying about the disc drives getting damaged.
I dont event have to worry about taking the discs when im moving.

there’s an account on Instagram that sometimes sells a game with a very very good price: Q8_complex
check it out

Digital games from a US store are frequently cheaper than physical
In Kuwait. The sales on digital are much steeper too. Anyone who thinks physical
Is cheaper has no idea what they’re talking about (not taking into account reselling, but I don’t sell games)

I’m moving to Kuwait in August and have an Xbox One X and a switch.

I am purely digital.

Do I have to sort out a VPN before I come so I can access the console’s digital stores? Also does switch online exist over there?

Thanks in advance.

awesome thanks.

You have no idea how great your site is in terms of keeping us informed of what we’re in for and showing us “real” Kuwait and what we can expect.

Frankly, if it didn’t sound like overkill, I’d say it’s a Godsend.

Cheers!

Thanks for posting about us Mark!

I’d like to point out that we’re not just about console games, we sell a big variety of digital cards, have a strong collection of gaming phones and their accessories which we believe is a growing market as well offer tailored services such as building a custom PC for clients.

Now about the Physical vs. Digital Games debate going on here:

From a business standpoint, we’re honestly not that invested in physical games, as it’s a dying market if we look at it in the long term. Fewer people are buying physical games and more are switching to digital for both convenience and better deals year-on-year. Still, there are consumer perks like selling the game to a friend or getting it a week before release etc but this isn’t stopping the growth of digital games.

On a positive note, we’ve added “248am” as a discount code on our website, literally anything on the website, which includes our already stupidly cheaper-than-amazon-because-of-2.5%-VISA-Fee Digital cards (limited to 1 use per customer)

Hope you guys enjoy!

I used to use gamesq8 all the time, but a few months back I ordered something and they didn’t even send me and email confirmation, never answered their phones, and I never got the game (i was paying COD so no transaction was made).

Then someone in Rihab told me they went out of business or something of that sort. I never used them again.
