offering the bag would be to buy time so that someone else from out might come. And some grocery stores do have cameras.
Well, had he gotten the tray returned, he would have something just covered in fingerprints as well (besides the door). Maybe he was thinking that, maybe not.

the bakala man was wise not to put up a fight. being a hero at such times would only make his wife and children cry.
offering bag was quite a psychological tactic, just to calm the man down to let him go away. and also he needs that change shelf for his til. i can guess he is gesturing to the robber to give that back and take a plastic bag instead.
in the end i can see the robber panic. he is not in proper state of mind. he has had some……

And how is he screwed. They only have his face on camera, they can never track him down as they only know how he looks like. It is very hard to find someone like him as he is only a thief.

i have seen how three arab boys kicked the hell outta a bakala guy in Abraq Khaitan and we all were just watching it helplessly. while one guy trampled his head, the other hit his crotch while the third one kept banging on his ribs.
