I got an email awhile ago that went something like hi, I have a bakery and I would like you to try our food. I get soo many of those emails daily that I could have a blog dedicated to just food in Kuwait (hmmm that gives me an idea runs to buy foodinkuwait.com… damn you nibaq you already bought it!). So anyway, I was about to hit the delete button save under important button when something caught my eye. They had freshly made, thirst quenching Faloodha AND they delivered it!

Currently the only places I know that serves Faloodha ice cream is Baba Taher and the little shop under it on the ground floor called Marafie (I think). Now we have another option and they deliver so if you’re interested call them on 55521207 or 55521208 to order.

The persian bakery is called Toosi Delights and you can check out their Facebook group [Here]

Faloodha is off indian origin and is usually served with the indian type of ice-cream know as Kulfi.

In india you get Kulfi Falooda, and damn, its AMAZING!

Faloodha is a milk based semi liquid sweet originating from the Indian cuisine. The color is not red sauce is red rose syrup or rooabza which gives an added attraction to the dish. Contains vermicili, sugar, milk, basil seeds (sabja), sago or pearl sago and lastly topped with ice cream.

Trust me till date i have not managed to find one outlet to compete the one i make at home or ones we get in India.

Hopefully this new outlet shod be lucky enough to change our opinion.

Regarding *** ‘s comment, i would just like to make it clear that he is talking about the indian type of faloodha which is first of all made ouf of ready made noodles and is milk based and they use ice cream topping as well sometimes. But the faloodha that the post and the shop is offering is the persian shirazi type of faloodha (the noodles have to be created from scratch with cornstarch, and this is the difficulty), and it is one of the earliest known frozen desserts, dating to ca. 400 BC in Persia while the other variations exist across India and Pakistan.

However, the shop does offer faloodha made with saffron milk, and yes i have tried it and yes its tasty!!! But the original one will remain my favourite!!!
