This was the insane line at the Vol.1 coffee shop on Thursday night. For those of you who’ve never been there I’ve highlighted with an arrow where the entrance to the place is. Keep in mind it was also 40+ degrees that night. Thats just crazy.

I can understand a line for a restaurant but for a coffee shop really perplexes me
the longest i think i’ve stood in line for food was 40 minutes for shake shack in NY back in 2010 before they had opened up in Kuwait.

New York ain’t New York without those lines.
Ahhh lines are worth standing in only if you’re waiting for the world’s best Gyro at the corner of 53rd and 6th
The Halal guys NY….
world’s worst diarrhea
Tried it once; Coffee and sweets were average. Seating area was full of flies. Don’t understand the “haba”.
Most people are there probably for the “gaz” and less about the coffee.
Most definitely for gaz purposes.
What is “gaz”? At least a hint!
somewhere between socializing with the opposite gender and flirting.
Why wait 40 mins for a coffee shop.
40 minutes of staring at each others.
To catch a glimpse of females
And males you sexist bastard.
Sheep
Baaaahhhh…baaahhhhhh!!!
im pretty sure the girls arent there just for the coffee either..
Coffee tastes good in Ramadan 😀
Vol. 1’s coffee is astonishingly good ESP their AeroPress coffee. I’m not surprised to see that line at all especially since a lot of people have a second shift after Iftar in Kuwait City. They need some good coffee to stay awake.
i don’t think the people in line are second shifters.
How come?
Because i don’t think the second shifters have so much time to wait in the line.
Most people here are on CPT (Colored People Time) so you’re right, many of them may not have a second shift.
40 mins? i rather make my own coffee ..
I rather hit a starbucks.
The brew is strong with this one.
May the brew be with you, fellow coffee drinker.
3 in 1
This is depressing.
I’ve been and as a coffee-lover i can say the coffee wasn’t amazing. I think most ppl are just there to post ig pics and to be seen.
Coffee good or not, its crazy waiting in the heating with all that clothing for another hot drink. Lifeless Zombies without a purpose in life – all marching down heeding the hype of social media calling. Coffee, coffee, coffee…..
You’re the one who doesn’t seem to have a purpose in life based on your hateful comments. I don’t know why so many of you are hating here, you guys fucking complain no matter what.
You guys complain we don’t have places to go socialize and mingle with strangers and the opposite sex but when people do end up doing that you hate on them for it.
For the guys hating here you all sound like a bunch of sore losers. If you haven’t noticed by now we don’t have bars or pubs, places like Vol.1 are our version of bars. With the loud music, the dim lights and all the young people, it’s as if Vol.1 found a loophole in the system, it’s a bar like atmosphere just without the alcohol. So what if everyone goes there to see and be seen and not for the coffee? You think people go to one bar over another because their Heineken tastes better than the Heineken next door? It’s the atmosphere and these places are creating one so good for them. I passed by Richards Coffee two weeks back and was amazed at how lively and energetic that place was because of a similar scene where it was packed with young people of the opposite sex just coming together.
So for those of you hating, fuck you guys, you can stay home with your Netflix if you want but don’t hate on other people just because they’re having a good time.
Mic drop.
Fantastic response marky Mark.
Hahaha Marky Mark!
Damn I miss the 90s. And Boogie Nights. And that Calvin Klein underwear ad.
For the record, I was not hating, I was just speculating on whether or not those people had a second shift because its Ramadan. I’d wait for 40 mins in Vol. 1 if I did.
I love the atmosphere at Vol. 1 but their music selection I’m not so fond of.
Hehe. No hate here Mark. Just a comic reference to someone waiting in line for a coffee in this heat. Wating “inside” a pub isn’t the same as waiting at 50C outside for a coffee. I haven’t been there but if its encouraging friendships great. I just commented on your pic – its just looks like a bunch of zombies headed in one direction – I see no mingling there 🙂 Have a laugh!
Thats sad.
Looks like someone has shares in the shop. Lol
I think ppl are ‘hatin’ cause it’s a new in place. Give it a few weeks and something else will be the new in place.
The place has been open for like a year and a half…
People are hating because they’re hating. This is Kuwait. Misery is the country’s the main commodity.
Type-o no “the”^
Huh waiting in line to sit or get takeout coffee? Plenty of restaurants around that place 😛
I work at the banking complex which is across the street to this place (next the the GIANT PARKING LOT of the cloth market).
Many of my friends have told me that the coffee here is very good; and the ones that have mentioned this also mention the insane crowds. I can only take their word for it because I have never found this place free enough to catch a cup on my way to work.
Anyway, it may have the best coffee in the world, because its patrons seem to think that their coffee craving gives them a right to ignore the GIANT PARKING LOT across the street, one more parking complex behind the shop – to park their cars on the curb.
The situation has gotten so bad that traffic cops especially patrol this area (in the non-Ramadan mornings) to ticket – and sometimes tow – cars parked right outside the shop, one behind each other, in a neat line all the way to the traffic light – blocking an already busy street during the morning rush hour.
I would say to them – hey move to a location with better parking but that’s just not the case here.
In my uneducated opinion, looking at the crowd that seems to gather and sit outside this place, I don’t think many are coffee connoisseurs – I think the majority are there for the wildlife.
But then people won’t see them getting out of their fancy cars.
