I’m probably one of the few people left in Kuwait who hadn’t been to Oriental Cuisine before. I had heard about the place but never really felt like going until a couple of days ago. For those of you who don’t know, Oriental Cuisine is a Thai restaurant located in Kuwait City. It’s not a new place but it started off as a small and awhile back expanded into a larger restaurant.
I went with a friend and we ordered a whole bunch of things including:
Chicken Satay KD1.750
Khanom Pang Na Moo (Shrimps on toast) KD2.750
Tom Yum Soup (prawns) KD2.750
Kaeng Khiao Wan (chicken green curry) KD1.750
Honey and garlic chicken KD1.750
Pad Thai (chicken) KD2.000
Plain rice KD0.300
People told me everything on the menu is good and from my one time experience there it seems that could be possible. All our dishes were at the very least good but most were great. My least favorite was probably the chicken satay since there wasn’t much flavor there but on the other hand my favorite dishes were probably the honey and garlic chicken along with the shrimps on toast which I couldn’t have enough of.
Their prices are pretty affordable and they weren’t stingy with the food quantity. My only complaint about the place would be the fact that their service wasn’t that great. When I arrived no one greeted me and I had to wait at least 5 minutes for anyone to give me any sort of attention. Other than that minor quibble it’s a pretty cool place. If you’re interested, they’re open all week except on Mondays and their phone number is 22470400. Here is their location on [Google Maps]

In my opinion after they expanded, the food quality went down a little bit, and the prices went up. I still go there, but comparing now to before, there is a difference.
For me the best thai place is “Phuket Thai” in Salmiya. You should check it out if you haven’t.
Oriental Cuisine USED to be amazing, but in my opinion, one of the most authentic Thai restaurants in Kuwait is Sabaidee! they have like 3 branches already. and their prices are even more humbler than Oriental Cuisine
where are the three locations?
Maidan Hawalli Baghdad Street, Mahboula, and Fintas behind Alia & Ghalia Towers if im not mistaken 🙂 Google them for more accurate details
great, will give it a try!
Sabaidee: https://www.q8sbd.com/#/contact_us/
Mahboula Branch : Building 23, Block 4, Mahboula, Kuwait
Fintas Branch : Shop 75, Building 2, Street 6, Block 1, Fintas, Kuwait
Salmiya Branch : Street 15, Block 9, Salmiya, Kuwait
Yes, I agree as well. Sabaidee far far better than Oriental
Sabaidee is amazing! It’s my favourite place to eat in Kuwait
Glad to know Oriental Cuisine has expanded – and it looks far more attractive than it used to. Last time I was there, I still really liked their food.

After your Japan visit you must be craving for worms and other insects 😉
I stopped going there after finding a 16 inch long strand of hair. I vote for phuket thai.
Hey Mark if you’re into Thai food you gotta check out Pataya Beach in Al dowaliya Building. That place with a lot of travel agencies. i go there weekly. Service and location isn’t competitive but i keep going back for the food.
Glass Noodle salad
Papaya salad
Red Chicken Curry
Green Chicken Curry
42 Beef
really dont like that place, i think the food tastes terrible over there.
I have to agree with Sulley! I LOVEEEE Pattaya Beach! Their food is always consistently delicious!
sabai dee is not bad, I don’t eat meat and they never have tofu, so for what I like to eat I am limited, I know the owners of phuket also, so they make everything vegan such as using mushroom sauce instead of fish sauce etc. It is good north east style thai food though, especially if you like sticky rice.
Their thai soup is amazing ! And the price are also very reasonable for such food quality and service.
There’s a place called Thai Chow King in Riggae run by a Thai family. The husband is the cashier/waiter and wife is the cook. The place is small but food is good.
It’s the other way round. The wife is the cashier/waitress. The husband is the cook. He used to work in Sheraton before, then he decided to start his own business.
Now Cajie.. You seem to be well know around their place. 😛
That place needs to improve on the size of the portions they serve…
Worst service ever. The manager is incredibly rude, I’m surprised they still have customers.
try some other stuff too at the oriental… u have to know their other dishes too.
– Khao pat kpao Nuea… its grounded beef stir fried in basil leaf and u could ask them to make that a lil spicy.. its served with a fried egg and some rice…
– Khao poo Kapi…. rice cooked in shrim paste..served with some shreeded omlete, chicken, dried shrimps, raw mango… smelly but good stuff.
– Cha Yen……. Thai Ice tea with milk or like my friend says “Thailandi Chai Haleeb Bared” lol
-Olayang……. Iced black Thai Coffe…
Check out the thai place right next to dodo in salmiya. Place is small but its the best thai place i’ve tasted. I tried oriental but this place is better.
Hello Mark, i wanted to ask you , What’s the best thai restaurant in Kuwait? With the best tomyum soup
Thanks
No more good. It used to be a favorite restaurant of ours. Now their Tom Yum is 4 KD and the quality is not the same either. Yesterday we went and the soup was sweet ( usually its not sweet ), the usual level of spice was not there and there were hardly any mushrooms. Last month went there to have some hot soup but got a hardly warm soup. When the young guy managing the place came and asked us how it was, when we told him he just said ok with a dissapointed face but did not do anything about it. Not going there anymore. Price has increased and quality has gone down.
Very dissapointed, used to enjoy going there.
