Bad gas

As some of you might have read on SomeContrast, Mishary posted pictures and information about the availability of new gasoline and diesel introduced at the Bayan Station. The prices are 120fils for pink gasoline and 100fils for orange diesel.

I initially thought that this would be a step-up from the current green gasoline, ultra (98 octane). It turns out that someone (insert big name) requested that Kuwait should introduce Euro-Spec petrol (environmentally friendly); and KNPC agreed. Afterwards KNPC realized that their refineries are not ready for producing Euro-Spec petrol, so they imported it from the Q8 system in Europe; hence the higher costs.

The pink gasoline (Ultra-Euro) is 95 octane (lower than green) and the orange diesel is most likely the same as the Kuwaiti garden variety. The only unproven benefit if used on our engines is lower emissions.

So when you go to Albisher next time he will blame you for not using the 120fils/liter petrol in your Merc. and charge you accordingly.

Does (big name here) own shares in Q8 petroleum stocks? That would be a very smart move from his company.

Thamer:
Could be a political move .. Environmentally friendly Kuwait.

I don’t think (big name here) was aware of the Q8 purchase.. Anything is a possibility these days though.

K…
I dont think “(big name here)” was unaware of the purchase. He wouldn’t be “big name” if he said things and wasn’t aware of the outcome. Well, unless his big name was wiratha and given by birth, thats something else.

Anyways, this fuel thing is total joke. I doubt it has anything political (international I mean). But maybe local political thing (like shira2 thimam or stealing?).

Well, just look at those gas pumps. I bet most customers are girls who think that fuel is “kash5a” cuz its double the usual one. heh.

Whether its proven or not, I seriously doubt anyone would pay 120 fils for it. Can u imagine how much it will cost to fill the tank of a 4×4 lexus including its sub?

The Green gas is imported from Malaysia as it is also not available from Kuwait refineries. Also the green gas is much cleaner than the other types. Kuwait refineries seem to have a problem with sediments and might damage certain types of engines, especially BMW M engines and other high performance engines.

I probably would have used the gas if I weren’t aware of the official octane .. expensive usually means better.

jaz:
E85 would be useless unless you had an E85-tuned car .. I wish it were 100+ octane.

Frankom:
SomeContrast posted about it today .. I linked them in the post.

Rakan:
It would cost a little under 20KD .. ridiculous.

Kuwait / The M Code:
Hathi akhrat’ha ..

Purgatory / Mustafa:
Play on words .. don’t let your minds wander.

Equalizer:
I was told that Green Gas used to be imported from UAE, now its created locally every 6 months (big batch). I don’t use anything but the green gas .. otherwise my car starts acting up (dirty injectors).

Sorry to bring the topic up again

No Way!!! i was looking forward coming to kuwait and bringing my tuned car which uses only 99ron i thought the pink stuff would be like 99 or 100ron because the green is 98ron …. can anyone confirm this ??

why would they import a 95ron if the standard silver is 95 ??
it doesn’t make sense why is it expensive then ?
