No More Illegal Parking at the Kuwait Airport

The Civil Aviation authority has banned illegal parking at the Kuwait Airport. Previously the long term parking lot would be filled with cars parked on top of curbs and in no parking areas, but this will no longer be allowed. Parking attendants will no longer let you in if the parking is full and if you do park illegally, you will now be fined KD150. Like most new decisions in Kuwait, I doubt this will last long.

Can someone chime in here?

Fatemah’s Second Law of Kuwaiti-dynamics states that the total entropy of an isolated system can only increase over time.

I’ve been stopped from parking in there even when there were spaces. The manager ran across the parking lot to stop me moving the plastic barrier and shouted that it was full. It was a month python esque moment as I pointed to a number of empty spaces and he ignored them to tell me it was full. Even as I went to stand in the empty space he said no and stood in front of my car to stop me.

That’s because the way these systems work is checking how many people checked in vs. how many checked out. If people aren’t taking up an entire parking space or if someone left without paying the system will be “full” and so he’d get in trouble for letting you in

I was there a couple of weeks ago. One of those cars in ‘illegal spots’ was a bit too centered to allow any of the other cars to pass. There were many people in the other illegal spots unable to get out and they ended up calling a tow truck to pull the legally parked cars into the middle of the road to get the whole line of illegals out. It was a big fun mess. I think that’s the reason they banned it totally.

I know that Jazeera Airways do valet parking, check you in and drop you off to the airport. Super quick!

I wish they’d expand long-term parking. If nothing else, it’s guaranteed return considering the demand. When Qatar was building their new airport they constantly expanded the old one. For parking they just added a tier on top.

Yeah but unfortunately the current design doesn’t cater for any parking expansion; unless they can fix up the giant lot in front of the cargo terminal and then offer some kind of shuttle service from there to the terminal.

What happened to the crackdown on No-parking places. There was a big crackdown just for a week or two and then its all over loll…
