Over the weekend I found out that the EDO location in Shaab is closing down for good. It seems the owner of the villa wants it back and so they will be moving out at the end of the month. They recently opened their Sahara Country Club location which although has a great view sadly doesn’t have the cozy and warm atmosphere of their 1950’s villa in Shaab. It’s very sad that they’re closing it since there really isn’t any other restaurant like it. Their last operating day is December 31st so if you’ve never been to EDO before you should before its gone for good, it’s one of my favorite sushi places in Kuwait. Here is a link to their [Website]

so I heard, very sad indeed am a weekly visitor to there Friday buffet and I was really disappointed with there rolls this week,it wasn’t as good as it used to be maybe the chef was having a bad day.
aslawi? 😀
never heard of it.
Suddenly everything else you’ve ever said makes sense.
hahahahaha
I been there once
That’s really bad!! It is right across the street of my apartment, even though will have less cars and Valet parking blocking our garage access, it is really sad that it is closing down!!! I believe it is the best sushi and Japanese restaurant in all Kuwait!! Hope their new branch will be as good as this one!!!
#saveEDOshaab
This sucks.
This is really sad. Even though I always took it for granted, I was constantly amazed and surprised by how much my friends from out of town liked it. It’s a truly great restaurant and a Kuwait institution and I’m not really a big fan of Japanese food (I’ll eat it if it’s there but I don’t crave it)
I also refuse to eat dinner in a shopping mall on principle, so the loss of Edo is one less dinner option but a major one since the house and atmosphere are so unique. The villa’s owner probably wants to tear it down to build yet another ugly tower.
I haven’t been to the one at Sahara yet (too far) but I hear a new city location is being considered. Fingers crossed!
Fun fact: the acclaimed Lebanese-American author Rabih Alameddine grew up in a similar house next door to it, which is now the building that houses Jacques Dessange salon
What the waitress told me is they’re planning a second location in Abu Hasaniya. My guess is the new village 3?
Oh god please no
Village is terrible with how crowded it is, and this is WITHOUT the 3rd location which will also have like 10 parking spaces for a 1000 seats worth of restaurants. Also if you’re going that far out Sahara isn’t much further.
Oh dear god no! That would suck!!
I heard from Christian Boustany (one of the owners) himself that the alternative location will remain in town because that’s where most of their loyal customers want them to stay
That’s where I took my girlfriend (now wife) for our first date.
Might go there before it closes to relive the awkward moments.
Haha Ali I feel you
The Sahara location is actually really nice. It’s not the same as Shaab but I actually kind of prefer it at this point, whenever I have a choice I go to Sahara now.
This is my wife’s favorate sushi place. I am sure she won’t like the news !
That’s unfortunate, but at least they’re not closing down for good.
Who is the architect?
