Snapple contains alcohol

Dubai Municipality ordered the “fruit punch mixed fruit drink” and “peach flavoured tea” varieties of the drink Snapple be removed after they were found to contain 0.48 percent and 0.05 percent of alcohol respectively, Abu Dhabi-based newspaper The National reported. [Source]

Buy them while you still can before they disappear forever like Lucky Charms did.

Many food products contain some alcohol content. There is a legal percentage though I don’t remember how much. Since the content in sbapple is too low and not mentioned on the packi g I would assume its within the legal Kuwaiti limits.

Ps… Why would Dubai ban it? They do sell alcohol and pork products..

Out of curiosity if I drink 9 bottles of Snapple is that equivalent to 1 bottle of beer? I mean do all the 0.48’s add up so 8×0.48 = 4.32% alcohol?

i’d guess that your body will get rid of the alcohol you consumed in the first couple of packs before your reach the final ones. so the alcohol content wont add up ;/

That’s too inefficient… it would be better to distill 9 bottles of it to concentrate the booze.
They should start selling Snapple in those huge bottles like Colt 45!

Yes but the large amount of water you are drinking will flush out all the alcohol before you get any effects.

Damn the profligates who want to get us drunk by sneaking alcohol into our snapple!

“flavouring extracts or natural fermentation are considered non-alcoholic”

This was declared as well by Kuwaiti officials many times before.

I remember reading about a trader in Dubai who imported fruit pulp/drink from somewhere, and would not go to clear it from the port for a while. By the time he would go to collect it, the ideal conditions in the storage yard would cause fermentation to occur and the drink would contain alcohol. Reason for doing this was that he would pay the customs duty for importing a fruit drink and not alcohol, which has a higher charge.
I could not find the article, read it a couple of years ago.

May be ur right. In Kuwait, English to Arabic translation stickers are pasted on the packaged products (rather majority of products) over the original english product description prior to MOH approval and den its put onto the shelves for sale hence consumer sometimes has no clue what the ingredients or product contains. Example: purchased simple apple vinaigrette bottle from D&D avenues which stated ‘contains 5% acidique (acetic)’ mentioned in Arabic. Just to clarify if I may for those who don’t know; Acetic acid is produced by the fermentation of Ethanol (ahem ahem) by acetic acid bacteria!!!!!! Now see dis; Purchased the same product from vienna on my way back to kuwait and upon arrival bags were checked and the Kuwait customs confiscated the bottle which not at all looked like a booze bottle by any shape n da first place. Reason for takin the bottle away: package description in english stated “includes 5% alcohol content.. Bloody hell yeah it does but it’s darn vinaigrette or just vinegar u *********! Along with bottle, went the Anthon Bergs etc etc etc……..

Non-alcoholic beer is different than alcohol free beer.

The second one is ordinary beer with majority of alcohol extracted by boiling, traces left up to %0.5 . This type of beer is not imported in GCC.

The first one, is produced in a totally different method that does not include fermentation, so throughout the process there is no alcohol formed. The results is %0.01 or less of alcohol.

(sigh) This is silly. Just about everything that you consume even in medication like cough syrup has a small percentage of alcohol in it. There’s no need for this whole drama again. If you want to make your own booze there are tones of tutorials online that you can make your own moonshine and all the materials you needed is in your local co-op.

Turkish Gov found out that there is a small amount of alcohol in coca cola as well.I dunno whether it is true or not but they have a report which has been published on national newspapers.FYI.

Oh man , why did you post this on your blog ?

You should’ve just sent pm’s to all of us. Now all that cheap booze will get confiscated πŸ™

Grow up. It’s 2013. What planet are you living in. Kuwait should allow freedoms of choice just like 98% of other human inhabited countries.

OMFG 0.48% alcohol!! Boy I sure hope nobody drinks that and drives! If they sold that at bars there would be orgys everywhere! STOP THE INSANITY!

Everyone associated with snapple deserves eternal hellfire for such vile behavior!

That is so lame, to drink some lame drink that is extremely taste-less who would want to drink ice tea!

HOSTLE is the way to go, free of alcohol but delicious! πŸ˜€
