Onam is the biggest and most important festival of the state of Kerala in India and it’s also celebrated here in Kuwait. Today and over the weekend some Southern Indian restaurants in Kuwait will be offering the traditional vegetarian dish Onasadya and I’ve listed some of those restaurants below:

Hello Mark! One of the most popular restaurants serving Onasadya here in Kuwait is the ‘Calicut Live’ restaurant on Salem al Mubarak street in Salmiya. Do check out!

There is a restaurant in Salmiya block 10, Issa qatami street named ‘Nilavara’. They offer Onasadya for lunch on Sep 11, 12, 13 and 14 😀 You can check it out on Facebook.
Usually there is a possibility of the restaurants running out of onasadya due to huge demand.. so it’d be wise to do an early lunch!

Will definitely be trying Sangeetha this year. My go to Onasadya is at Udupi. Their Avial is the best! But I need to change it up this year.
I wanted to do Sangeetha tonight but turns out they don’t have it for dinner and their lunch finishes at 3:30 which means i can’t even go there after work

FYI do not go to Udupi. Last week I was there to have thali with my family and a cockroach casually crawled out of the plate. Thankfully we saw the thing before we could eat it and left immediately. Never going there again.
Hey which Udupi did you go to? I usually go to the one in Fahaheel which is the only one that is not on ground level and thus there’s a less chance of something gross like that happening.
This happened at the Salmiya branch.
That’s unfortunate and yes it is gross! For Udupi the best branch in terms of taste and consistency is the one at Sharq opposite Crystal Tower!
Agree about taste. However, I tried their Vishu sadhya and it was the most inauthentic thing ever! Had Indo-Chinese and Mughlai dishes 😐
would like add that Udipi nor Sarvana is a Keralite restaurant, so you may miss the authentic Keralite taste for the sadya

Having a live roach crawl out of your plate is no small thing.. that’s a health hazard.
In the health interests of the other diners . Instead of walking away I would have made a ruckus and have the health and safety department of the municipality come over and seal the place .
Also correct me if I am wrong here ; but isn’t a Thali a large open plate with smaller finger bowls on it ?? surprising the serving staff in the kitchen or the serving waiter didn’t see a live crawling insect on the dish he was about to serve to a diner.
Several years ago, my husband and I were out to dinner at Applebees on the seaside, and while we were sitting waiting for our meals, we got some sort of appetizer with a bread basket. The server set the basket on the table, and while we were talking, my husband flagged down a server – he calmly asked for another table. When pressed why (since it was busy), my husband pointed to the little cockroaches crawling out the crack where the table connected to he wall!!
He gave us a new table way on the other side (free standing), but my husband threw another fit because they first wanted to bring the basket and drinks from that table, and then they refused to give even a discount or anything else!
We never have been back to any Applebees.
@Mark Don’t eat ONASADHYA FROM UDUPPI and SHARVANABHAVAN these are serving tamil taste – If Want to Enjoy The real taste try any Kerala base restructure like Calicut Live, Nilavara,Kayal,Mabrook SalmiyaThakkara etc…..
