I love the way how Apple always manages to find a cool way of attacking Microsoft. Tonight is the Worldwide Developers Conference where Apple will be introducing some new products and someone managed to take a picture of a banner for the new Mac OS which has the headline “Introducing Vista 2.0”. If you didn’t get what it means its basically taking a shot at the upcoming Microsoft Vista (the new Windows) which is already more then 2 years late. Basically the poster is saying that OSX (Macs operating system) is already way more advanced then Vista. [Link]

if you are not comfortable with irc you could have it open in the background and once your favorite live update site crashes or slows down you can have irc as the backup. Personally I usually have 2 or 3 live update sites open (macmerc, macrumors and a random new one i try) plus irc open, that way i dont miss a thing.

This time I’m here in the States, it’s sad though that I can’t go down to San Francisco :/ It would’ve been fun!

The advancements of Vista isn’t half as impressive as we witnessed when we went from 10.3 to 10.4, andi t took Windows 2 years to make any sort of advancements, they couldn’t even come up with fresh ideas.
Windows: “Lets create… a Dock system! Where users can place icons of their favorite programs and files! No one has ever done THAT before!”
Is it even worthwhile debating between Windows & Mac OS ?.
It reminds me of the all the debates that I see on the net regarding Nikons vs Canon.
But this is too good to let go….
Oh sure – Mac is more stable, but that’s because Apple has been so fucking adamant about controlling both the hardware & software. No wonder the suckers don’t even have 10% of the PC business.
While the 10% may say “Oh what a great stable system we have”, the other 90% are using their systems for things that Apple can only dream of. The recent success of Apple with their iPod has sparked some interest in Macs. But that’s about it.
At the end of the day, businesses will run and continue to run Window based PC’s for their ERP solutions, and office productivity tools. And unless Apple can compete in this space, it’s Macs will always be a novelty piece. A niche product.
No one is debating Mac vs. Windows, that debate has been long over on this site.
The funniest thing about Apple and their OS is they always try to attack and compare the products to windows.
Microsoft doesnt even bother and they dominate and they have a more superior product.
Unlike couple of MAC users, the rest of the world loves and uses windows.
If mac usrs don’t like windows, don’t bother attacking it every time there is something new!
Vista features for business, security, managed networkds is hard for graphic designers to understand.
My advice is enjoy your Mac, but you really really don’t know what you are missing with Vista.

fadi the reason microsoft doesnt compare itself with OSX is for the same reason kia doesnt compare the optima to the Mercedes S Class.
People don’t love Windows, people are forced to use Windows. There is a difference.

If you would like to know whats in the upcoming Vista then try out OSX, the features have all been there for the past couple of years now..
plus it must suck that people even prefer Linux over Windows. I recently read on Digg that Unbuntu is now also stealing Windows users…

I am saying that Apple has this advertising to tell people how bad the PC is and then they try to make it look bad in every single event they have.
I have never seen an ad against apple from MS or even a presentation or event or billboard to attack it.
They might exist though, but its not as obvious as the TV ad where they tell people how a PC needs 50 hours to setup and million cables.
After seeing the Ad I was expecting the Apple Mac to start from a solar panel on the top of hologram monitor where you think of something and it types.
The fact remains, PC users can’t use apple, and vice versa, but the Mac people are few and they are not growing in crowd and apple had to make an mp3 player to start making some money again.
They tried cutting costs again by using and intel cpu like most of other pcs and now they are advertising that it can also run windows.
Mark: the primary target for ubuntu is other Linux releases as they are so outdated, they are loosing market to Windows.

eddy: Microsoft won what? The majority of people use Windows because that’s the only thing available to them, that’s what they’re taught to learn when they’re young, that’s why Microsoft injects millions into schools so they support Windows and have schools run Windows computers.
This isn’t about winning or losing, if that was the case then Apple wouldn’t exist today and Microsoft would be an even truer Monopoly. Honestly, I’m glad the majority of the people use Windows. It doesn’t make it the better of the two.
I’m just glad Apple doesn’t have issues that Windows has, Viruses, Infections, Spyware, Trojans and Adware… um wait. Doesn’t that spell Vista?

Well said, Patrick. I like it the way Mac is, simple (at least from the outside) and unique.
I saw that WWDC video where Steve Jobs & co’s demonstrate their new products and I must say thank God I have converted to Mac.
