Tesla is Coming to Kuwait!

A friend just let me know that Al Bisher, the company that recently lost the Mercedes dealership has signed an agreement with Tesla to bring them to Kuwait. Tesla will be taking over the old Mercedes locations and garage which should make life easier on the Tesla customers who imported their cars to Kuwait.

The reason Tesla took so long to come to Kuwait is because of ownership rights. Tesla doesn’t franchise the brand but it seems they’ve worked out some sort of deal with Al Bisher that solves that. I’m curious to see if they’ll set up charging stations around the country. Exciting!

Note: Keep in mind the above information is just a rumor for now, I am still waiting for confirmation on the above from another source.

Thanks K

Update: The information turned out not to be true, Al Bisher isn’t bringing Tesla to Kuwait.

Update2: Looks like it’s going to be Alghanim, not Al Bisher that is bringing Tesla to Kuwait. The hiring ad below was just shared by an Alghanim HR employee on LinkedIn.

I’ve been noticing some unusual activity from Kuwait with Tesla shares (level III feed). I’m theorizing here, but it seems Bisher got around the ‘no dealer’ clause by buying enough of Tesla to be a subsidiary or associate or whatever their lawyers crafted. Musk is hurting and losing all his friends and clout in Silicon Valley. MBS came to his salvation, and this opened his eyes to the easy no-questions-asked financing of the gulf.

whose going to need charging stations?! Kuwait is so small and Tesla’s single charge range will probable last you a couple of day!

Unless you’re a taxi…

Wow I wanna believe this rumor but I find it hard to believe that Tesla are willing to franchise as Mark mentioned above. Don’t get me wrong I love Tesla, and I would love to drive one. I only got to share a ride with an uber in LA (Still thought it was cool).

PS: I think that this would be a great opportunity for Tesla to build the infrastructure around the new areas targeting the thousands of people that are potentially moving in the next few years.

Are the Nissan dealership selling their Leaf here? And Chevrolet their volt?
I mean I think people would really do buy these electric cars… I can see myself buying the leaf in the near future

I think Chevrolet is selling the Bolt here (it’s a small electric car like the i3) cause I saw a lot of ads here showing the car.

i remember they brought it for the car show last year but then never heard of it again or saw it. worldwide though they’re stopping production on it.

who needs charging stations when an overnight charge will give you 500+KM of range ? Thats more efficient than a modern day 6 cylinder car and you can do more than a whole lot with this mileage, especially in a country this small.

As for brakes, they typically last atleast 2x-3x the lifespan on normal brakes found on regular cars simply due to less usage as a result of the built in electric engine brakes.

At the moment, Tesla arent opening in Kuwait though their UAE dealership informed me that there are definite plans to expand within the GCC in the “near future”

A few weeks ago the ministry of electricity and water said they want to begin replacing their cars with electric ones, they will see how it goes and hope to encourage other ministries to do the same. I highly doubt they will use a Tesla both due to high price and Elon smoking pot (Parliament will call the minister in, some religious MP will label him as a “supporter pot smokers”, Twitter will go wild and the minister will step down). But where will they get an electric pickup truck? It would be nice to see electric buses and lorries here, the police will also benefit due to how fast electric cars are and no engine means they can lightly ram a vehicle without causing too much damage to their cars. I hate the fact that governments demand that everyone goes green, put High taxes on the struggling working citizens yet the government still use petrol vehicles and business use diesel and petrol lorries.

There was a government plan to change all buses to electric, I think it’s still on but they are just waiting for a good model. Or it could be have been scrapped.

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE ELECTRIC LORRIES. Not these noxious excessive diesel gas spewing monstrosities from the 80/90s

I always thought if Tesla were to ever come to Kuwait, Alghanim motors would be their agency.

Now that you’ve cleared the air with Al Bisher you may want to consider putting this to rest and removing this entry.

No local company can open official Tesla store in Kuwait or anywhere else. Tesla doesn’t do dealerships, they own every official Tesla store and they will never open store here unless they get some special deal from government.

I’ve heard that there is a chance of getting tesla in Kuwait by almulla. With same old scenario of replacing old Mercedes place because almulla owns it now.

Yes please hurry up 😭 اتمنى اي احد منهم بس يدخلووونها الكويت ملينا
