The Wataniya Airways twitter account which had been dormant for 3 years suddenly came back to life with the tweet below stating they’re coming back.

I also got an email from a Wataniya Airways representative stating that they’re targeting to come back between December and January depending on certain circumstances.
For those of you who weren’t around at the time, Wataniya Airways was a premium local airline that launched back in 2009. Compared to Kuwait Airways at that time, they had newer planes and they flew out of the Sheikh Saad terminal which was (and still is) much nicer than the main terminal. In 2011 they shutdown due to financial reasons.
I’ve got a personal attachment to Wataniya Airways since I had worked with them on their advertising from pre-launch till shutdown, so I’m really interested to see how this will pan out.

I read on some of the news accounts on Instagram that they will be re-launching soon. I also read this old article saying that they are preparing to come back. So my guess is that its true.

they returned for some ppl , but until now they didn’t returned my money!!! i buyed the ticket online and i even email them with the tickets but nothing happen !!!!
What’s the point of the airline’s existence in the first place? For short-haul flights, there are a lot of competitors for popular destinations such as Kuwait – Dubai/Jeddah/Doha/Istanbul/etc.
So what can Wataniya Airways offer to make passengers fly them rather as opposed to Emirates/Kuwait Airways/Turkish Airlines/Jazeera Airways/Qatar Airways/etc.
If they are a premium airline serving long-haul destinations (Malaysia, Hong Kong, Japan, UK, USA, etc.) then ok, a non-stop flight would make me fly them as opposed to Emirates but for a short-haul flight? Good luck!

I don’t know, but the more competition the better for us flyers.
More competition for short-haul flights = more planes/traffic in the air = higher chance of a mid-air collision. Is it worth risking a mid-air collision for a short-haul flight?
For long-haul flight I can understand but short-haul flight? It’s pointless in my opinion.
Oh and one more thing, more airlines in Kuwait = more traffic in Kuwait Airport for check-in (luggage drop counter,) longer immigration lines, longer waiting times to park the plane, etc.
since we will have like 4 or 5 airports soon that shouldn’t be an issue
Mid-air collision very rarely happen EVER and that’s because all the planes you see are flying are either in different altitudes or speaking with the respective control room of their current location. That’s why you never hear that ever happening.

How can they be successful when they haven’t paid back their previous customers? There’s already no trust. I suggest changing their name. I wouldn’t want to be associated with them if I were you Mark. 😛
