From what I know it’s illegal to make/get permanent tattoos in Kuwait but I found a local tattoo artist based in Salmiya advertising his services with a banner on Facebook. Dude, tip #1: If you’re doing something illegal you shouldn’t be advertising it. [Link]

and you just helped him close down his business.
Do you know how easy it is to get hepatitis or aids?
I never knew you could get any type of diseases from getting a tattoo. That’s some new info going straight to my vault 😛
from the needle used.. very much possible 🙂
Very much impossible to get aids and hepatitis from a new needle that has been soaked in solvent, children. Lets worry about those jerks who crash their cars on the freeways instead of this little crap, shall we? I don’t have tattoos but I’s like to think I worry about the bigger problems in Kuwait besides a bloody tattooist.
So we can only focus, worry and complain about one thing at a time?
Wonder if he even has proper sterilizing equipment…
You are worried about this, and not all the spoiled rotten food that is in the shops?
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2271440/Burger-King-admits-selling-beef-burgers-Whoppers-containing-horse-meat.html
Alistair Overeem approves this.
I bet he has all the proper equipment’s it’s his butter and bread so he must insure the welfare of all his customers.
In that case restaurants and clinics might as well NOT be regulated because of course they want the best for their customers cuz it’s their bread and butter.
So what is the similarity of food, medicine and tattoo? So you strongly believe that base of your examples applies what you meant?
How can you deregulate Food and Medicine???
You seem to be connected to this tattoo artist or something so I don’t think it’s possible to have a logical discussion with you on this subject.
Are you serious? Tattoo needles can easily infect someone if they are not properly sterilized. Does he have all the necessary equipment?, how do we know he uses them at all times? Can you personally vouch for his ethics?
That’s just an assumption based on hunches, Every business wants firstly whats most profitable to themselves and second comes the customers,
you’re argument is invalid.
dont be an idiot lol. needle = blood.
u cant get aids u get hiv
Hes got 5000+ likes.. must be famous ! :-/
If you look at his tattoos in his photos, you would find that he stole one of my drawings :/

My things should be copy right!
Well, sorry about that previous comment about that picture of a Facebook link. Seems like I have a privacy setup…
Any who, I DREW THAT PICTURE AND HE STOLE IT FROM ME!
If you think you are really in a disadvantage situation then you are free for legal action …if you really think that it’s all worth for all the mess that comes out of your action you have a free will… But there are more bigger problems out there just saying though.
Started in 1995 o_O
Look at all them tribal tattoos.
hey guys…
tbh i dont mind a tattooist in kuwait…but i really think that this should be strictly for nonmuslims or nonkuwaities. dont get me wrong now, tattoo’s look great sometimes but i dont think that the muslem and kuwaiti community will accept it.
Have a great day 😀
Have you ever been to a gym in Kuwait??
LOL! Indeed, people show tattoos in gyms like crazy!
I have seen Kuwaiti’s at the car wash sporting tattoos! Ther is probably around 2 dozen, or so, tattoo artist here in Kuwait and 20 of those guys are more than likely Filipinos.
Facts I found in Google.
About HIV -The virus can enter the body via contact with the bloodstream or by passing through delicate mucous membranes, such as inside the vagina, rectum or urethra.
The most common ways that people become infected with HIV are:
– Through having unprotected, sexual intercourse with an infected partner.
– Through injecting drugs, using an unsterilised -needle or syringe that has been used by someone who is infected.
– As a baby of an HIV-infected mother, during -pregnancy, labour or delivery, or through breastfeeding.
About Hepatitis: The main ways of getting infected with HBV are:
– perinatal (from mother to baby at the birth)
– child-to-child transmission
– unsafe injections and transfusions
sexual contact.
FACTS, FACTS and FATCS
– They changed needles every each session and the nedles are fresh and sanitized before using it.
Because its illegal its unregulated and so there is no way of knowing or monitoring what he’s doing and if he’s doing it everytime
It doesn’t mean that if your business being regulated means you are doing it clean. If you are really the tattoo artist do you think that putting one’s life at stake in acquiring service from you is general concern of your business? Don’t you think that doing the right things gives your business growth? Don’t you realize that as someone mention this thread that tattoo in Kuwait is illegal? Ok so if you are the tattoo artist and wants this to be legal is it possible? “No” so what will you do to the person who wants his service can you stop them?
It means that if the business is not regulated you have to trust the person is doing the right thing. How do you trust someone you don’t know? Why do you think industries are regulated instead of running on trust?
“Because its illegal its unregulated and so there is no way of knowing or monitoring what he’s doing and if he’s doing it everytime”
Couldn’t have said it better, Mark.
shut up dr phil
How are they sanitized?
Soaking in dettol = wrong answer.
i got inked in kuwait a couple of years ago, the guy is philipino and he used a needle which he opened infront of me and if he doesnt use a new needle you would be very stupid not to tell him to open a new one infront of you or you open it, anyway the only two problems are prices and talents, hight prices but doesnt match the talent and accuracy you have in your mind
Anyways, Tatoos suck. They’re like ugly drawings which stay on your body… forevvvvaaaa.
I disagree :3
I agree
Mark did you yet get an email fom him to take down the post :p…
Sterile needles come in individual packs. The problem is once the packs are opened, the individual who uses those needles might not be familiar with sterile techniques. And it therefore, makes the needles no longer sterile for use.

Might as well give up all the people who sell black market alcohol while you’re at it, Mark. Alcohol can lead you to contract HIV– all it takes is one night of drunken sex with the wrong person. LOL And lets all stop buying homemade alcohol/wine as well since the environment in which it’s made is not regulated. If homemade liquor is not done right you can get severely ill or it can lead to death, by the way. C’mon people, we all know ALL of the above is illegal, but I’m sure 95% of us are guilty of doing it at least once. No one puts a gun to our heads to do these things. It’s all about the choices you make, and it’s up to YOU to be wise and do what’s best for you– or to do whatever makes you happy. To each its own.
Well said. Its like everyone is against tattoos as its illegal in Kuwait, but are perfectly fine with attending shady parties underground or at chalets serving booze and enjoying it. Alcohol is as much illegal in Kuwait too.
Let me clarify before anything, I’m strictly against both – tattoos and alcohol.
+1
agree!
This guy had taken out an ad banner on Facebook. If there was an alcohol dealer advertising his services on Facebook I would have also posted about it.
I’ve got several tats (Leg piece, 1/3 sleeve, arm + a tiny one) on my body and got most of them done in kuwait.
I’ve moved around 4 artists and i’d just like to say that it really depends on the individual getting a tat to have enough common sense to know that the artists is doing a proper sanitized job or not.
Btw, the local artists here (the ones whom ive worked with atleast) are very hygienic and careful with their work, all the more because it is illegal and they dont wanna get screwed if filed a complaint against. Which is also why they tend to avoid minors.
The 3rd artist i went to, i found was not en par with the hygiene and sterilization standards so i ditched the deal.
Anyways just saying.
Boom.
The difference being is you wouldn’t buy black market booze from some stranger you just met through Facebook would you? This isn’t just strictly a matter of it being illegal, but the health risks that come with an unregulated business that involves the use of needles. An unregulated business that’s advertising on Facebook, where kids browse, you might be intelligent enough to know best, but teenagers who want to piss off their parents don’t.

i get some of my tats here in kuwait… atleast the person i go to is very professional.. n im like a 100% sure bout it.
I dont like tattos. will never get one and discourage people around me not to get one. But I was extremely surprised to learn from this post that its illegal in Kuwait! My brother got one 6-7 years ago and I my understanding was that he got it in a Men beauty Salon!
If you don’t have a tattoo, have never been to a shop, or don’t know the equipment involved educate yourself.
A business meeting regulations and standards is a temporary status, it doesn’t mean you are in a sterile environment or they are cleaning equipment properly, it just means they did the dog and pony show for the official and passed. They do have spot checks by officials, but they rarely happen, and usually it’s a fine for a first time offense. A framed rating or a regulated business doesn’t give me total peace of mind.
*I have tattoos, have worked at a shop, and have received tattoos outside of a shop setting
I think people are misunderstanding the point here. The fact that it’s illegal makes it difficult to assess if this guy is sanitary or not and he’s advertising on a public site where minors, teens browse. Any of you might be intelligent enough to know the risks of getting a tattoo at a place that’s unregulated, but others do not. The kind of diseases you can get from unsanitary conditions are: tetanus, herpes simplex virus, staph, HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis B and C, and even Syphilis.
I guess you’d be dead against a lemonade stand then…
Lol
A lemonade from an unsanitary stand could possibly give you food poisoning or bacterial infection but nothing as dangerous as Hep C or HIV. Moonshine on the other hand could be safer since its distilled. I’m just saying…
Dr. Mathai is on the case. LOL
I don’t think that tattoos are illegal in Kuwait. I’ve never heard of a law banning them, they’re permissible in Shia Islam and many reputable & well-known female salons are publicly advertising tattoo services. Plus several famous Kuwaiti actresses have eyebrow tattoos. The Kuwaiti authorities aren’t shutting down any of those salons or arresting anyone.
No, It’s not acceptable in Shia nor Sunni Islaam.
Actually it is 100% acceptable in Shia Islam. I am a Shia Muslim and my marja’ Sayed Sistani confirmed that it is permissible.
Mark is upset For not advertising on his website !! (being sarcastic) :p
Perhaps Mark is trying to increase the traffic to his blog by appealing to more conservative audiences?
Im against tatoos for religious reasons..but im just appaulled by this blogs double standards…if u r so big on regulation, then why did u support the kid selling lemonade in mishref a few months ago? If u guys dont remember what im talking about allow me to jog ur memory:
https://248am.com/mark/kuwait/the-mishref-lemonade-stand/
So you’re comparing kids selling lemonade on the side of the road to drug dealers and unlicensed tattoo artist who might be infecting all his customers with hepatitis? Classy.
Sassy.
Haha nice one Mark.
Nothing in life is guaranteed…. you could walk out a perfectly legal tattoo parlor without getting HIV or Hepatitis or any other life threatening disease and still get hit by a car while crossing the street. The point of this post I gather is not to to debate the legality of tattoo parlors or tattoo artists in Kuwait. Thats a given; They are ILLEGAL plain and simple and along with everything else illegal in Kuwait its a thriving business. The point is that it is wrong to advertise on a social network such as FB coz it can be accessed by minors who will think nothing of the risks of going to an illegal, unregulated and unlicensed tattoo parlor. The only thing on their mind is how they will impress their friends or girlfriends at their next party with their latest illegal body art trophy. And who is to guarantee that the said artist will not accept business from a minor when offered a hefty sum?? It is after all as some one mentioned his bread and butter. Comparing this to a child’s start up lemonade stand is just plain ridiculous. Sure in the eyes of the baladiya this too is illegal coz it doesn’t have a food licence but then whats the worst that you can get from bad lemonade compared to to tainted needle?? Last I checked common over the counter drugs for diarrhea and food poisoning were easily available compared to HIV and Hepatitis drugs.
Actually, i live in toronto.. And its totally legal to get tattoos here..obviously.. Yet its actually one of the few things here that arent regulated..you dont need a license orto register to open a tattoo parlor.. No health inspections..nothing.. They are planing to change that soon though…too many scratchers opening shop… If anyone is planing to get tattooed, anywhere in the workd..make sure the place is clean… Make sure they open a new needle in front of you which they usually do.,,and make sure they are wearing gloves..oh and make sure they can tattoo and draw..
It’s a real shame that people won’t bring themselves to realize that there will always be a black market for things, even for something as simple as a tattoo parlor. To get a tattoo/piercing needs to be done by a professional, and taken care of properly.
I’ve met several people with piercings who always manage to get themselves infected, even with nose rings. It’s kinda lame.
Nose rings lol, totally unclassy. Looks damned ugly in my imho.
It’s not a matter of public opinion. If a person is getting a tattoo/piercing to impress somebody, then that’s their problem and it isn’t too big of a deal. I’m talking about health issues that come with poor practice of body modification.
I would be less upset with somebody with a clean nose ring over somebody who has a blue, crusty, pussing swollen nose and hepatitis B.
lol .. i know this guy .. and i have been inked by him … he’s a real pro at his work .. and his equipment is safe as well and his needles are sterilized .. they got an expiry date and he throws them out if they are expired .. n nope he has not stolen any work he thought for like 2 hrs on what design i would like and drew it with his own free bare imagination …
P.S. just for the record 80% of his clients are kuwaiti’s oh and not to forget many of they are cops.. i know the dude personally .. illegal lol its more like legal …
Yeah there isn’t a law against tattoos. It isn’t illegal.

Body piercing are not so lame..they are kinda cool in a way & are great equalizers in a fight 😉
Just grab, hold, tug & rip… end of fight…. My own experience; ripped out a nose and ear ring in drunken brawl once… left the guy speechless. Mostly due to the fact he was bawling on the floor screaming out cuss words and threatening to kill me..lol. No insult intended to bonafide body piercing enthusiasists.. JMHO
