SVN Resort Opens January 1st

SVN, the new wellness luxury resort opening in place of Corniche Club is officially opening on January 1st.

The resort is really really beautiful I can’t emphasize that enough, everything about it from the color palette to the material choices and furniture was well thought out with no expense spared.

The resort is split up into various sections, the top floor has the main gym which includes all the best equipment from Technogym and a 270-degree view of the sea and resort. The top floor also has a women-only gym and separate PT training areas. It’s a very chill vibe but if you’re into heavy lifting or Crossfit, there is a second gym on the lower floor which they’ve nicknamed the dungeon.

The lower floor gym has a completely different look and feel from the rest of the resort with an all-black color scheme and flashing LED lights. This is where you’ll find all the free weights as well as a separate spinning room and a Les Mills studio. On the opposite end of the resort also on the lower floor are the yoga and pilates studios which once inside feels very calming with green grass outside and the tall LA-like palm trees lined up outside the windows.

You also have indoor and outdoor racket courts, a one-hoop basketball court, an indoor pool, two outdoor swimming pools, and various other facilities. The main pool is the one near the main building and allows children but the second pool is an adults-only infinity pool located at the far end of the resort and surrounded by cabanas.

So what are the prices?

Single Male: KD3,000 per year
Single Female: KD2,600 per year
Married Couple: KD4,000 per year
Family (Couple + 2 kids): KD4,900 per year

There really isn’t any place like this in Kuwait. The price puts it out of the reach of a lot of people, but for those who can afford it, they’re going to love the fact a place this nice exists now. If you’re interested in signing up or getting a tour of the resort you can apply through their website svnkw.com

Just lost both my kidneys reading the prices….

Oh wait…Just realized I never had them…coz I pawned them for iphone 14 pro

I went there today, I was looking for a family oriented resort and luxurious at the same time, since I dont really travel much or ever with my kids.

The place is just BEAUTIFUL.. a real getaway, just what i needed for myself (divorced) and my kids to be in one place and get to do something all year round.. the vibe was so relaxing and comforting to the eye. I loved it.. and the gym was perfect. I was looking at the equipment to make sure i know what I’m paying for. They have everything, more than the gym im at right now (which is also expensive).

I think people have to go there personally and see it to make a decision .. to me it’s a getaway for myself and kids, pool, beach, kids club, play area, so its reasonable for us because as I mentioned we don’t get to travel much so I’d happily pay that amount for a year rather than a 2-3 weeks trip. Just my opinion. Hopefully will be planning to join 🤲🏼👍🏼

lol what are you talking about? women things cost more than men. salon? clothes? shoes? even segregated gyms cost more for women than men. mix gyms are literally the only thing women pay less for

Because on average, men earn more than women.

Its a marketing strategy as the club would prefer to maintain a good ratio of men to women.

The parity in pricing becomes clear when you understand that there are significantly lower number of single women who can afford this membership vs single men.

For the same job.

Its a global phenomenon and speaks to majority of the cases.

What I can’t understand is men who are triggered when they seen women get a perceived monetary advantage when the disadvantages to women over the course of their lifetimes are so clearly documented. Whats going on here?

Triggered? Is that what you it’s called when I call out pure BS? LOL

The wage gap has been debunked and disproven time and time again in multiple studies across multiple countries. You’re beating a dead horse and I’m not here to argue with a wall.

It’s hilarious to see people in Kuwait engaging with weird American culture war issues. Calm down, Jamil Al-Peterson.

Men in Kuwait DO make more than women. Men get access to ‘badalat’ that aren’t offered to women. Moreover, a married man in Kuwait gets a boosted salary and money per child. Women don’t get that.

You can identify as being a woman, just for first day, tell them your name is Sheela. Pay the reduced fee, then go back to being a Top G. ))

5k? This is bananas. I feel sorry for all the husbands that are going to pay it. There are nice bubbles here but you have to find them. Just charge 10 or 20k then! Again, I feel bad for the dads that are going to be forced to do it.

I am sorry! over KD 200/month.. THIS IS INSANE! I understand that they did quite an upgrade but to be honest the layout and all same as Al Corniche and back then Al Corniche was a great gym for me.

They really need to reconsider! they quadrupled the fees!

Other than the fact the place is located where corniche used to be there really isn’t any other similarity. I understand it’s expensive and not in everyone’s budget but so are many things in life, doesn’t mean we should be upset at everything that we can’t afford. It’s a luxury resort that’s trying to cater to a certain segment. When compared to the prices at places like C Club or Rafa Nadal the price starts to make sense. I told my friends after seeing the place the first time that if it’s more than 3000 a year I wouldn’t be surprised, if it’s less I’d be very surprised. I’m actually surprised that it’s 4000 for a couple because that makes it 2000 a year or 166 a month which to mean is actually an incredibly great deal for what you’re getting.

I’d love to join.. but I really dont have the body for it😅. I think these places are nice, forgive me for the elitism but generally, and in kuwait specifically, we find the richer individuals tend usually to be more open minded and better educated. I’d gladly pay 3K a year to meet and make connections with well educated and open minded people.

Lost of people pay a crazy sum of money to go to a top university (tuition, living in a big city plus other costs) for that exact same reason, to meet and make connections. You will get the same education at a top 10 university as you would in a top 100 university but the main difference is prestige which comes with bragging rights and connections.

I was a member in the Corniche club paying 1/3 the price as a vip for 7 years .
The club had the facilities mentioned.
Basically you will paying 3 times more for the white paint.
The membership prices just insane

But you’re not paying for an extra treadmill or a new paddle court so your argument doesn’t make sense. They aren’t charging more just because they added new facilities, thats not the only thing that differentiates one place from another. I think ex corniche customers were hoping it’s corniche but with white paint and are upset that the place has changed into something most can no longer afford. I was never a member but the feeling I get is that corniche had a really nice community which is why ex members are upset they aren’t getting it back.

I’m going to get a membership there for my family regardless of the price cause it seems amazing, but I’d just like to know how else is it different? other than the facilities, why do you personally think it’s worth the membership fees ?

Smells like broke in here. The prices aren’t high enough, I need to feel the air of exclusivity while working out and grunting!

Naah ! its a hard pass from me, might do something productive with my money,

will deffo passby CURE over the weekend, ill see you there tho,

Is the structure of it (buildings, floors, number of pools and their sizes) the same as the pre-existing corniche?
Or is it all newly constructed?

Truth be told I can afford it. But I’m an expat and i obviously look like one(not the Arab expat). Can’t bear all the members mistaking me for one of the staff there!

and at the end you will find yourself sitting on the beach where the fishy smells around and the sea that you can never swim in as its too oily, greasy and dirty.
but seriously, Okay for them to choose their customer segment.
but the prices are way too high for a gym AKA luxurious resort.

with such an amount I can rent a house in europe and spend a month over there and create memories with family instead of just being surrounded with people showing off

The problem is see with this is that svn is targeting the 1% of kuwaitis that can afford this, expats will barely be visible. Since the majority of the facilities is beach + pool that 1% is not the community that would be comfortable being around each other in swimsuits so that is just wasted space. So basically you’ll be asking people to pay 3k to use a gym with a nice view and then pay even higher personal training fees for the same training you can get for half the price at any other gym in kuwait.

They should have just refurbished it a little and kept the same prices as corniche but filtered the individuals more if they want a good community.

They will probably try this for a year or two then realize that it doesn’t make sense charging this much and drop the price significantly like every other gym that started this way (inspire, burrow etc.)

You know you don’t have to disagree with every comment, it’s ok to be impartial sometimes and agree on some points.

I mean it wouldn’t have been that hard to disagree with you considering your “big idea” for svn is slapping a new coat of paint and keeping the same prices as Corniche (because according to you that would make them profitable since you know their breakeven costs).

But I actually, didn’t disagree or agree with you, I just found it hilarious how everyone thinks they know better.

I agree. That top 1% are either ‘highly religious’ and choose to live in Kuwait, therefore will not be partaking in this mixed area, or that 1% chooses to vacation in Mykonos or something for the same price 😂

The prices are good for other businesses … there are other excellent resorts who are now happy to take over the corniche’s ex-members

Yeah exactly, anyone that wants to pay corniche prices has other options to choose from. People looking for something more premium are pretty limited to just C Club right now and that place is tiny.

SVN aid actual a very nice resort, the price is very reasonable. My daughter was paying 110 per month for a local gym. She can study there, there are so many group classes offered. The children are nice and friendly , staff and service are good. The club is well maintained. The price for adults is higher than some gyms however I’d you calculate it as a monthly fee it’s amazing for what they offer. It’s been well thought out and perfect family club. Amazing to have such a club in Kuwait. All clubs have pros and cons and so far SVN Zia so well maintained difficult to claw any class/ service .
