Avenues Phase 4 Renderings

avenue1

A reader has sent me 3D renderings of the new Avenues phase 4 which is set to be completed by the end of 2017. I previously posted about Avenues Phase 4 back in October and I’m guessing these renderings are of the new “Electra District” which is modeled after Times Square in New York and the Orchid District which is an area with boutiques and hanging gardens with restaurants at the center. The Electra District looks pretty trippy from the outside. I like.

Mabanee [the Avenues’ owning company] confirmed a five-star hotel as part of the expansion plans but haven’t announced an operator just yet. My guess is it’ll be something with 150-250 rooms.

Seeing that Alshaya chairs Mabanee and owns the Sheraton and Four Points also means they have long-standing agreements with Starwood Hotels. The Starwood portfolio additionally includes the Le Méridien, Westin, W, Luxury Collection, St Regis, Aloft and Element brands, so it would make a lot of sense to pull one of those brands for the Avenues hotel. I could easily see a Le Méridien in there because of the brand’s focus on art and discovery [the Avenues’ location puts it in easy reach to just about everything], a Westin [if a health-conscious perspective is what they’re after] or maybe even a W seeing as they’re very lifestyle-oriented and design-driven.

Alshaya also has the Four Seasons coming up downtown but it’s very rare for a city to get more than one branch so I don’t see another one coming up here. Whether or not they’re working behind the scenes with other operators remains to be seen.

I’m gunning for another Starwood, personally. We should find out soon if the late 2016 deadline is still a go.

I just hope they bring a really good bookstore like Waterstones or Barnes and Noble or just simply another Jashanmal Bookstore, but much larger. Also, will Hard Rock Cafe come back in Electra District?

Very trippy, enough to push some mad youngster to commit another murder and come on how many starbuck, bath and body and such like is needed in the Avenues…

The avenues has enough stores already. Actually, it has too many. Here are some of the duplicate shops:
american eagles, h&m, vision express, hassans optical (eye boutique is also hassans), athletes foot, starbucks, ihop, Kaifan opticals(optysport is also Kaifan), Write time(wrong location), Bath and Body, lebanese soap, pinkberry, victorias secret.

I think there are actually many more.

The point is that phase 3 added nothing new, except more restaurants and store duplicates. And adding a 5 star hotel sounds wonderful, giving visitors breath-taking views rivers and snow covered mountains of Omariya, shuwaikh, the friday market, and riggae.

Going at this rate, the whole of kuwait will be covered by Avenues phase 100 or phase 200 so people will live, eat work inside the avenues and there will be no more desert in kuwait 🙂

Qaweya!

Looks like it’ll be its own self-sustained ecosystem! wait till they connect the Bahrain Avenues with the Kuwait one!

on the comment of repeated stores, I agree that they should duplicate and spread them out since the mall is so large. Maybe some more variety of brands would help reduce the monotony.

Can you imagine what Kuwait could become of schools and education were given the same attention as shopping malls? Just a rhetorical question. Do not feel compelled to answer.

and a big museum being built in place of an old palace so hopefully heading in the wrong direction. but anyway Kuwait & Qatar have the most literacy rates in the middle east and that list includes “Israel”.

and if by your comment if you’re comparing with other countries, i don’t have official numbers or anything but what other region has more university and high school graduates than the gulf? because it’s compulsory and expected by parents and no shortage of money to supply them with even if they fail once or twice.
there may not be excellence but that’s not really down to education system that laziness is from another subject.

but feel free to find numbers if you want. I think maybe scandinavia will come up on top of that list but gulf countries shouldn’t be far from them at all.

not to forget kuwait and qatar have also the best employment rates/least unemployment rates globally. nowhere in my comment did i mention kuwait’s universities are the best…
