Years ago I posted about a friend of mine becoming an Alshaya mystery shopper. Back then as a secret shopper you were required to shop at Alshaya stores every week and write about your experience. You also got two meals at Alshaya restaurant every week worth KD14 which you also needed to write about. Pay wise, back then new shoppers would get KD75 a month while silver level shoppers got KD150 and gold level got KD300.
I’m not sure how much of that has changed but my guess it would probably be similar. In any case the reason I’m bringing this up again is Alshaya are currently looking for new mystery shoppers. Is Al Shaya different than the company International Service Check? I signed up for them but never followed thru because I would have to pay for everything up front and they would reimburse after 6 weeks or more which I think is a rather long wait to get paid.
I think Alshaya have their own in house mystery shopper program and so don’t work with international service check.
I just checked the ad on Al Shaya’s website and it says ‘only bilingual candidates can be considered’.
I used to be a Alshaya mystery shopper via international service check in Egypt and believe me its a hassle :S
For those who are interested, a few pointers from someone who did (and enjoyed) alot of Mystery Shopping 🙂
-You need to be very observant and aware of the environment you are visiting, in terms of cleanliness, organization, customers in the place, interaction of employees with other customers, as well ofcourse the product/service you are rating.
-You need to be EXTREMELY thorough with your report. Every detail counts. A good way to describe it would be as if you are “video taping” it in words.
It is alot of fun…It can get annoying at times, especially when there is a big issue you need to discuss.

Tried them once… A lot of hassle and they pay peanuts!You write everything a comprehensive report and they come back to ask really stupid questions!
The post title looks really interesting and I’d do it just for fun, but after reading some of the comments from the experienced ones……….no thanks.
I used to be a Alshaya mystery shopper and they invite me twice for training and they make me sightned on something like secret information that you won’t give or pass any information to 3rd party bla bla …
you have to pay for everything , write reports with details and specific points in the end you have to write more than 10 reports and your report will be evaluate , and after all of this may you get paid like pens ….
this was 3 years back , i am not sure but what i remember i had to write 10 reports and they will pay like 20 kd for.
so last time i decided not to waist my time by using me without any back
