Kuwaiti Accomplishments

I was talking with a friend of mine and somehow we got into a conversation about Kuwaiti accomplishments. He was surpised by some of the stuff I mentioned and I figured I would list them here and maybe some of you guys can add to this list and that way we can have a nice list of Kuwaiti accomplishments and add them to Kuwiki.

Zed Al-Refai – First Kuwaiti and Arab to climb Mt. Everest
Mesaed Alhammad – Built a working spacesuit
Danah Al-Nasrallah – First Kuwaiti female to participate in Olympics, she was 16!
Munirah Buruki – First Kuwaiti female pilot, only 19
Fahid al Dihani – Bronze Medal in Sydney 2000 Olympics
Amani Al-Haji – Female Kuwaiti Opera Singer
Khalid Sauod AlZaid – World Taekwondo Champion, only 12 years old
Abdulrahman Al-Farsi – Owner of the worlds largest Kite (does this count?)

Do you know any more?

Mark..Great website bro. 🙂

The first Kuwaiti female pilot, and possibly the first Arab female pilot (correct me if wrong please) was SHARIFA AL MULLA, who obtained her pilot license in the early 60’s while studying in Cambridge, U.K.

Al Qabas published some cool black and white pics of her at the cockpit of one of those old one-seater “convertible” aircrafts wearing the goggles and pilot head gear..way cool.

I tried retirieving them from the Qabas website with no luck. If anyone can obtain them, please, do share.

Buruki, on the other hand, is the first female Commercial Pilot.

Hope this adds to your list.

Keep up the good work..

Hola,There are a lot of Kuwaiti accomplishments u didn’t mention,, one of them is AL-Hashimi “the world biggest wooden ship” which entered the Guinness world record” , built and owned by Hussain ma`arafei. Check the site > http://www.al-hashemi2.com
Qanim al Othman “ may he rest in peace” who was the first Arab and Gulf national to set sail around the world in a record time of 1.5 years, during which he crossed 30,000 nautical miles on a 46-foot boat.and was killed in an airplane crash.

umm..Mark why did you remove Abdulrahman Al Farsi because i think he does count. He was also in the Guinness world record in 2009! he did have the record from 2004!

Plus he’s probably the only person thats making events that do not include foam during 25-26 of Febuary! i went to his event in bnaider this year… IT WAS AMAZING
