Observe the partial solar eclipse tomorrow

There is going to be a partial solar eclipse tomorrow and if you’re interested in observing it you can do so at the home of astronomer Adel Alsadoun. He’s inviting the public to come by and check it out from there since he will have a telescope connected to a large screen to view the eclipse plus he will be providing solar eclipse glasses.

This is a solar eclipse, the picture looks black because of the filter used to protect the eye and to make the sun more visible.

I am at work right now, what’s the best way to view it – I do not have access to equipment from home like photo negatives to view the eclipse.

Took a piece of cardboard and pinned a small hole and tried – almost burnt my eye. Can’t see sh*t.

Dang it.

“Join a group, if you can, that has at least one expert or veteran eclipse chaser. They can instruct you on the proper and best methods of enjoying the eclipse.”

“Lie in a recliner or deck chair or on a blanket. The best way to view a total solar eclipse is from a lounge chair that allows you to look up at the sun comfortably. A blanket spread on a hillside will work well, too.”

Very useful instructions for someone trying to view the eclipse at work.

Unfortunately there was so much cloud in my part of the UK this morning, that I had more chance of seeing Osama Bin Laden running down the street in his pyjamas, than a partial solar eclipse today…..

The best way to view Solar Eclipse and to photograph a Solar Eclipse is by a method I learnt by myself.
You get this welding glass in Platform or Abyat which is used to shield the eye from the effect of bright light produced during welding.
And since the glass is dark, it will filter out all the dim light except the sunlight which is unexceptionally bright.

Here are some pictures from my photostream:

These pictures were taken in 2008 and I had a shitty video camera, so the pictures taken were of really low quality. =S I was just 13 that time, so yeah, sucks. =P

Hope you get the idea. I thought of posting this tutorial in the 248PM blog but I had exams and stuff, plus I didn’t really get time. =)
