Smoke House 2.0

If you guys remember around 3 years back I posted about Smoke House who at one point I thought had the best burger in Kuwait (that’s pre-OFK, Elevation, Fatburger and Shake Shack days). Well things went from perfect to a mess, they had consistency issues, they changed their burgers and some people ran into issues with their management.

But it seems things have finally been sorted out. They posted a very honest and fun to read update today on their website where they talk about some of the problems they had and how they’ve gone ahead and changed or improved things. After reading their post I actually have a much better impression about them and I’m now interested in going back and trying them out again. Why can’t more businesses be this down to earth and honest with their customers? Check out their post [Here]

yeah I tried it once (3 years back) and it was good but the problem is the location.. why don’t they open somewhere in Salmiya?!

As you said they still suck I had dinner a week ago. The road sucks the food crashed even then waitress looked unsuitable.

Newbies trying to drive in Mahboula? Rest in Peace. I’ve been living here for 9 years or so and even I get lost sometimes.

My husband, son, and myself ate there one night a few months ago and we were all vomiting violently the rest of the night. Never again will we eat there!

Hello!

Thanks for featuring us, and highlighting our update.

Thank you also to readers who’ve taken the time to comment. Fun and games aside, given we’re a restaurant you can imagine we take food rather seriously.

In the event a customer has a negative experience, we encourage them to get in touch with us immediately. We are somewhat baffled that we have not received any serious complaints recently, especially in light of some of the comments.

Going forward, if anyone has complaints, constructive criticism or suggestions, PLEASE email us at [email protected] with your contact number and one of our partners will call you directly to listen.

Three years in the restaurant industry is a lifetime, we continue to thank the majority of our regular customers that offer us the opportunity to share our food.

Thanks again!

The team @ Smoke House

Husband and I had food delivered to our house from there 2 yrs ago and got food poisoning! Didnt bother calling the resturaunt to notify them because we would NEVER try them again! Couldn’t take the chance that it could happen again!

Same here!! Food poisoning and bed-ridden for 2 days. No amount of advertising or offers will erase the memory of hovering over the sink all morning, heaving and and straining my diaphragm.

Despite all the comments stating they had food poisoning and negative experiences I will definitely be giving them a try based on the team’s honesty and willingness to get feedback in order to improve.

its been three years of bad service, if it takes them that long to realise, then theres something really wrong going on.anyway,i hope you enjoy your experience.

Well food poisoning is common if food is being grill cooked. Proper cleaning of the grill is a must!

I’ve been a regular customer of smoke house for the last year, the food was always great and different. . The place was hard to get to due to constructions next to it. But they were welling to deliver all the way to Rumithiya

@smokehouse: Do the US military have an ID which they show you guys and then you give them special treatment? Otherwise what is the significance of mentioning you serve them as well? Business who classify customers openly usually are a no no.

I go there mostly for their “sides”. Must have eaten there with the family on more than dozen times. Food was always good, and never had any problems.
Hope the new road and parking improves things for you guys.

I’ve just visited the Smoke House blog. After reading it’s still not clear to me whether this is a hamburger restaurant or a sheltered workshop for the mentally challenged.
Either way, next to some unfortunate coincidence and a failing management, their marketing strategy is obvious a drama but a guarantee for a great laugh.

Also interesting to observe that the restaurant reviews are lately without any exception positive. Negative experiences are been written exclusively by the commenters here. Maybe someone can recommend me a good Japanese restaurant too?

From the Smoke House 2.0 blog:
Peace
Love
BBQ… What is the association? World peace due to a hamburger?

Btw. In contrary of what my words might be suggesting, I wish the owners and staff genuine success. Just re-consider your concept and aim to serve the best quality burgers in town. To achieve this you only need a good cook-, friendly but a professional staff and of course fresh meat. Leave your satisfied guests take care for the social media and don’t bother them with your internal problems and complains of being overworked.

Good luck!

I ate there twice and that was only because my wife and I were invited. When they first opened I thought they were trying to say they were trying to be a down south bbq joint. I told the Filipino manager that if they were trying to be a southern style bbq place then where is the cherry or peach cobbler? don’t ever try to mix in local flavor like other ventures do because they need to stick to what their concept is. supposedly an american is like 10% owner of this place, which would be a waste of my time if I was him only being 10% or 15% owner. well anyways i thought the food was ok, but not great. I prefer cooking my own bbq especially since I have access to pork shoulder to make pulled pork bbq!!!!! Yum Yum!!!!!!
I guess there reasons to try and gain the publics interest for a second time around is kind of like the poorly located Hip Hop Food Shop in Mangaf! both of these business’s should try relocating to the main streets like 210, 211, or 212 or maybe like behind Fintas Towers or behind Trust Towers(Fintas) or even close to Early Bird.

Considering US-army as one of their main clients, it isn’t be such a bad idea.
If I want Thai food, I hope that the cook is from Thai origin. Same for Chinese-, Indian-, Italian- and Japanese restaurants. After all, they’re supposed to know best how the food has to be prepared and served for an optimal taste and experience.

But maybe you’re right in your (cynical?) comment: – Where’re the Americans good for anyway?
I mean in Kuwait of course.

Generally yes, actually i think we need an american to run everything to run good. For the simple reason that they are not 3rd world and they care.

Love their food. The only reason we stopped going was because it was difficult to get to with all the road work. I have tried it on several occasions in the last couple of weeks and I have to say..Smokehouse is back and just as tasty! Good Luck guys!

I eat at the smokehouse almost once a week and NEVER got food poisoning. I still think their burger is among the top five in Kuwait.

Thanks for being the only freaking real southern food in Kuwait! Still can’t believe it! Looking forward to trying your guys LAMB, innovative I tell ya!

From a Southern Cajun the food is just not southern or or shall i say southern enough for me. This type of food for me is comfort food, which should be food that reminds me of home. I just don’t get that here. Kind of like going to Texas to buy a falafel, it’s just not the same.
