Did you know our Kuwait water tower design was inspired by the Sweedish water tower of Örebro named Svampen? I didn’t know.

so does that mean I should marry a swedish girl ?
🙂
Swedish girls (with 1 E) are amazing, so go ahead my friend 🙂

Actually you made mark looks bad (with 2 E) .. lol
wow same i dint know about it
‘Svampen’ in English means ‘The mushroom’, so that explains why it looks like that 🙂
inspired my A** more like copied.. they are identical
The svampen was the first mushroom water tower, the swedish designers who did ours were inspired from it. There are a good amount of difference, ours are smaller, we don’t have an observation tower on the top, ours come in groups and ours has a smooth surface while there’s has various elevations
Mark, there is also a restaurant located at the top
no there isn’t, you’re talking about the kuwait towers.. the one that has spheres…
no, ossama means to say that the svampen has a restaurant at the top
.. kinda condescending
yeah, i meant that the svampen has a restaurant at the top.
wow.. didn’t know that.
you’ve got a typo. you wrote sweedish.
“Swedish” is the correct spelling for someone who hails from Sweden.
“Swede” for a person and “Swedish” for an object in this context.
I recognized the similarity when I first saw them in Kuwait, but I thought it was just an incidence..
I’m from Sweden and we’ve got one similar in my hometown.
Thanks for sharing. Scandinavian architecture has such a large influence here in kuwait. That’s the subject of my Master’s thesis btw.
Any reader from Sweden here??
Thank you mark
I’m a big fan of your blog
Keep up the good work
Can you please share your thesis with us when done? I’m a huge fan of Scandinavian architecture in Kuwait, they were behind the kuwait towers, water towers, kuwait airport and even the cool blue bus stops!
and the parliament building too… Agree with you, Mark.
Parliament building wasnt by them, it was by the same guys behind the sydney opera house
correction, parliament building was designed by the Scandinavians while the Airport was design by the Japanese.
i also love the modernist nordic architecture in kuwait, do you know if arne jacobsens central bank is still standing?
there is an article on the water towers you can download from this link

The kuwait airport was designed by a french company .
The airport was designed by legendary Japanese architect Kenzo Tange.
is it true they are going to build a new airport in kuwait by chinese architects that built the one in china ?
i heard about it and they said it will finish in 2022 :S
Swedish*
Compliments from your resident grammar nazi 😀
