A couple of weeks back I was walking in Avenues Phase III when suddenly I smelled something incredibly good. I followed the smell all the way inside the Williams-Sonoma store to a pot sitting behind the checkout counter. I asked one of the employees about the smell and she was extremely helpful, like she went into their store room and brought out all the ingredients to show me kind of helpful. She told me it was basically just a crockpot (rice cooker/slow cooker) filled with water and had the following ingredients boiling inside:
– 2 sliced oranges
– 2 chopped apples
– 2 sticks of cinnamon
– 3 teaspoons of cinnamon powder
So last night I passed by Kenwood (Jashanmal in Kuwait City) and picked up a crockpot along with all the ingredients I needed from the supermarket. I found crockpots that were as cheap as KD5 at Xcite but they only had crockpots in white while I wanted a black one. The Kenwood dealer didn’t have a black one either but I ended up getting the stainless steel version pictured above which looked pretty cool but also cost around KD15.
All you do is add the ingredients with water into the pot and then just wait until the water boils and your house fills up with an incredible aroma. My apartment now smells like I’ve been baking apple pies all day long and I love it.

Did you cook the Apples and Oranges to eat – or just for the smell?
Just for the smell
Can’t you just bake apple pies all day?
Don’t tempt me.
I gotta try that!
What the F@#k fact- Glade has got some good air freshners!!lol (Mindblow)
I think her intent was for you to buy their crockpot 😛
They don’t sell the crackpot or the ingredients
Crackpot Mark? 😛
This stuff is sooo cool !
It smells better than the costly Bakur which I bought…
Mark even your Kitchen Tiles are Pink o.O !
Purple
@Mark, how long did u keep boiling it. Did the fragranc esaty long after you switched it off
In the store they leave it boiling all day and just refill the water. I boil it when I am home and I think I can use the same batch for at least 3 days maybe just keep adding a bit of cinnamon powder.
I don’t know how long the smell will last after switching off. I turned it off last night and this morning i baked some muffins so not sure if I go back home now I’ll smell the breakfast muffins or the cinnamon mix from last night.
Ok an update. I got home and my house still smells of apple pies and this is still from yesterday night!
Mark..Y did u buy that pot? You would’ve just boiled them in any pot..y this particular pot?
*Could’ve
Because this is electrical and u can plug it anywhere in the house instead of keeping a pot burning on top of a stove all day.
Yup,,Fair Enough 🙂
Actually it must be mulled wine or Glühwein. With wine its smells even better and tastes too haha
I’ve seen it done both ways! in a resort in Gouna (Egypt) it was Gluhwein because they had many German guests and it was winter, and the smell was AMAZING! and then in another restaurant they did Mike’s version. MUST TRY! 😀 I think some add cloves too.
Waste of food…
not necessarily … maybe the mixture can be transformed into applesauce at the end.
woow thats amazing i will try it …
Dude thanks to your post now the whole of Kuwait will smell of Apple Pie
So now we can use food for smell instead of eating interesting….
we’re using food instead of fuel so might as well use it for other things
i love the smell in WS .. they really need to bring more items though .. and I want a REAL Crock Pot
We typically use it for our Southern holiday house parties. Both my Grandmother and Mother use it and I love the smell.
