The Ultimate Ahmadi Post

Ahmadi Town from Archofkuwait on Vimeo.

If you’re a long time reader you will know I have a soft spot for old pictures of Kuwait. Right now I’m extremely ecstatic because Architecture of Kuwait have just posted what has to be the best Ahmadi post ever. They’ve posted a ton of incredible pictures of Ahmadi, nearly all of which I had never seen before and all of them are very good quality shots. They even posted the 20 minute documentary above! Check out the picture of Ahmadi at the bottom of this post, it just looks beautiful.

The gas leak really messed up the place… they’re trying to get it under control, they’ve dug up the whole place and pumping O2 trying to ventilate the soil from the gas.

i was born in ahmadi and was rasied there , i lived there 14 years , my dad use to work in koc and they gave him a house there. It was one of the best times in my life. although a quiet town and far from the city it was a unique place , havent been there from 2004 really miss it

i lived there for about 15 years myself. i loved the fact that it was so removed and yet not far from anything. loved driving through the avenues and streets- be it to another’s house, the charming old tsc area, the fantastic set meals at the clubs or just plain home and out. it was just some of the best years of home life with the parents.

I’ve lived in Ahmadi for over 20 years. I’ve love it to bits..I’ve been in the UK for the past two years now..when I went back to Ahamdi last year I was shocked to what had happened to my beloved town.

It used to be sooooo green and beautiful! The gas leak that happened there had a huge impact on the greenery, nearly all the trees had died…the damage in some places was worse than others.

Those pictures brought tears to my eyes. People always complain that Ahmadi is too far and all that, but no one can understand what a haven it is unless they’ve lived there. There is no place like Ahmadi. No where in Kuwait can you ride a horse on the street between houses without getting harassed and cased! God bless Ahmadi, I can’t wait to go back home.

I am in Ahmadi daily for work (KOC) and have been visiting the Sports Center, Hubara, Unity etc. for the past 20 years.

NO place in Kuwait is as green/clean as Ahmadi.

I LOVE Ahmadi! Living here for 20 years now….No matter what people say that they thinks its too far and reminds them of a village….I think its the best place in Kuwait for peaceful living.

Over the years it has gone bad, my heart cries when I see the burnt trees n dug outs across the streets due to the gas leak. The govt and KOC are not giving this place its due importance !!

Sheikh (Baba) Jaber was the governor of Ahmadi once upon a time. It continued to be beautiful and bloom until he passed on.

the pic at bottom is the construction [completed in 2008] in place of the older, and ugly. KOC HQ which was destroyed during the Iraq invasion

I’ve been living in ahmadi for the past 24 years! y3nee for my whole life. it’s such an amazing peaceful and quiet place that is so unique. There aint no place like Ahmadi in kuwait. I just hope we get through this current gas issue rapidly. It is true that people claim it is far from the rest of kuwait, but once you live in it you wouldnt want to live anywhere else. Peace from A-town!

Exactly! And they proly will never get it. I knew of people who (said they) declined a house there because the wife wanted to be ‘in some place more lively’. Like Mangaf. Aahahaha..

Sigh… Beautiful Ahmadi.
