Track your EasyShop packages with the iPhone

Since EasyShop uses DHL I just realized I can track the status of my packages with an iPhone application. There are a ton of applications to use but I am using one called “Delivery Status“. Since the DHL tracking is EXTREMELY detailed the application is very useful. Another reason so choose EasyShop over Aramex.

Note: One more thing, you can create an account with Delivery Status on their website and that way you can copy and paste all your tracking numbers there and it will sync it with your iPhone app. That means you don’t have to type them one by one on your iPhone, very practical.

Note2: The application can also track your Aramex packages but it will only start tracking once the package ships from the US and since their tracking isn’t very detailed it’s not useful.

Update: Turns out the application can sync with your Amazon account and provide even more details. Just added my Amazon order number from yesterday and it collected all the information from my account.

FAH, this application I posted about is Delivery Status Touch. It works with Aramex but it’s not really useful since Aramex just update you when package leaves US and then when it arrives to Kuwait. By then you already get an SMS from them.

The delivery time is very very fast (3 days), and the shipping charge is cheap also (0.90kg = 6kd) but still …kuwait customs charge me 12KD + 5% CIF for a 53$ item from Amazon.

Aramex’s shipments are getting held in customs here for over a week and the shipments are checked in large batches (or major containers) by customs – hence the delay.

It is unacceptable for an Aramex shop and ship customer to receive a shipment in NY on say 15th of November and only receive the shipment in Kuwait on the 4th of December.

We might as well order *directly* from amazon to a Kuwait address then…what use is shop and ship??

Once the bloogers and young people, who do the majority of online shopping move from aramex to dhl or whatever, you know trouble is ahead – problem is we havent really seen any major strides by aramex to fix these drastic delays in kuwait and their silence is causing a hell of a lot of people to jump ship.

Okay I got my first package through dhl and only paid 3.5kd for shipping. Although I started hearing horror stories about custom fees. Apparently with expensive packages they take alot more than ARAMEX. But in the end I am sticking with DHL because aramex is bullshit these days, 2 freakin weeks for something to get through customs is totally unacceptable.

As for deliveries I have been using it since the day it came out. Excellent app for sure.

heeey! you ordered canon g11?! excellent choice. I got it few weeks ago, paid double its price in the US since i’m in the UK. but its an amazing camera.

yeah, was looking for a good travel cam, something smaller than my Nikon D90 but better than my Sony W300. Was going for the S90 but it felt very flimsy and cheap. The G11 felt much more solid and durable. Only wished it had the S90’s brighter lens…

Canon ftw, although I am not really one for those types of cameras, I love camcorders and I own an HFS100. Best HD Camcorder I ever bought! Sony what? 😛

Khaled just tried TrackThis, it’s a piece of shit. Ugly interface, complicated system of signing up and adding tracking numbers via the web. The GUI is really the worst part and it’s simply not as easy as Delivery Status to use.

But… the PUSH is pretty cool. I am keeping TrackThis just for that and will use it on some packages. For everything else there is Delivery Status which I hope add push too.

Well right now you can’t be charged for customs when it comes to laptops apprently. I forgot where it was posted, I think in the EASY Shop post made by Mark. There was a list of things that don’t get charged for customs. So basically if you do get charged you could refute it and prove to them there are no custom fees on it.

Anyways since there are no custom fees I would recommend using Easy Shop or USWS since their going to be faster in terms of getting the item here in kuwait. If you use aramex it might get stuck in customs for a week or more depending on when they decide to get the stuff out.

Painkillers, I’m also thinking of buying a apple macbook pro from USA either Amazon or Apple.

However, I am really new to this and any tips from anyone would be greatly received, just registered with Easyshop.
