Found this via Hilaliya, some teacher who was living in Kuwait in the 80s scanned some old pictures he had taken here and uploaded them to his flicker account. Some cool stuff, Kuwait really hasn’t changed much. [Pictures]
some old pics of kuwait towers construction i had up’ed at flickr
I like seeing old pictures of Kuwait..
As you would know, after the Gulf War, Kuwait was like in a time capsule..everything kind of just stopped in time, actually stuck in 1990..
But now, things are slowly changing to the better (yet, maybe not as rapidly as some would like).. the Infrastructure is being transformed..we’re seeing more high rise buildings..
However, the real question is: Is change better?
sure it has. for starters, u rarely see cars this old.
fonzy.. jus drive to kheitan… you’ll find all the old cars you want.. hehe
lol the roads looked better in those days than now, they were still new back then. that’s so pathetic.
holla thats coz no one “getting paid” 50 million kd. the money actually went into developing the country back then… but you know the worst part about all this… most of us lived in that era and are now talking about “ah the good ol days’ like a bunch o grandpa’s… *sigh* i hate growing… wish i was a kid … btw mark you got any pics of the old ghost house in salmiya?? it got torn down and now there is a mosque there ofcourse there is also an apartment building…
aren’t all those cars now in Jleeb?
too bad he didnt take a picture of salmiya cuz now i wanna compare how much it changed
After Im done with my dissertation (all my sentences have begun with this phrase for the past 3 months) I will scan some old pics too from 82-83, and 89-90 (o:
Mark found some super vintage pics of the Kuwait Tower btw, check it out…
I disagree, these picture show a different Kuwait than now, the expression on people faces says it all.
I didn’t come across this site until today. Now those pictures are even older! (Wish I’d taken more shots of ordinary things.)
