Abraaj Water is Safe

Lots of rumors and scans circulating, it’s all not true. [Link]

Update:
The letter from the US Embassy which I stated in the comments below was probably a fake forward being sent around was actually sent by the US Army to everyone on base. You can read the letter [Here].

I am just wondering now if this letter was a reaction to the other letters that have been floating around by email or if the US Embassy got confirmation regarding this from another source.

Actually Abraj people admitted themselves… water coming out of the production line is clean. Some of the water reaching the end user might not be… this is because of the storage methods used by the shops and retailers.

They did have a problem with contamination in 8 batches. All 8 have been recalled. Happens with any company. Their problem is that they are now ‘lying’ by omitting to say that. I still wouldn’t buy it, or any of these other ozonated tap waters including Dasani, Aquafina, etc… Its really not much different from Britta filtration.

Msm yes there is an email circulating with those 8 batches of a ministry sample report, in clear it says “not suitable for human consumption”

i was hoping abraaj would not only prove their water safety with current approved sample reports but also acknowledge these recalls and not act like they aren’t in every email box in kuwait

I am confused…the linked article is dated March 24. Perhaps the dated article is referencing a situation that occurred earlier this year and the current emails being circulated are about a more recent matter.

Actually the paper from the US embassy was a management notice (# 65/10, dated May 16th), I saw it too. They said that Abraaj water should not be considered safe for human consumption…

I’m not going to drink Abraaj, regardless of what the paper says.

Mark, I have an insider at the PAI. She told me not to drink Abraaj and that was long time ago. The people in Abraaj have strong connections and they are trying to cover that.

teagirl that paper from the embassy is being forwarded by emails. Can be easily doctured and if the embassy is denying ever sending such an email then thats most likely the case.

You can fake anything and send them virally by emails we all know that Mark, but this is water we give our kids, I personally used it to make by 1 year old son formula milk. I really hope its not true but it is very suspicious and feels like its more than just a rumor.

ok … we have anthor choice
cancel abraaj take anthor one
why we are talk too much
and igree no smoke with out fire 🙂

Just asked a friend who is in the know. The letter is true, but is only considered an internal memo, therefore no one will go on the record as this is considered a breach of security. Also they can probably get in trouble with various ministries, as they are not allowed to issue consumer alerts to the general public. Buyer beware.

Wow that’s scary, we live in such a rich countris with everyday commodities at the tip of our fingers yet were not safe when it comes to our drinking water? Glad I only drink aquafina (their still okay right? Lol)

Our HSE guys verified the matter with the concerned authorities and the letter is authentic. Better safe than sorry. I have been using abraaj and I stopped it today. I wonder if they will refund me.

The said KUNA article about Abraj water being safe is dated March 24. The rumor about Abraj circulated like last week only. Though I doubt the credibility of that US embassy memo but I guess either Abraj or the Ministry should issue an official memo clarifying this matter.

For the record : abraj, aquafina and a couple of others are distilled tap water. They are not mineral water.

If you want real bottled mineral water there are plenty of choices out there with a couple of affordable ones like Sahat and Massafi and Tanourine and all of them are much better than any distilled tap water

Regarding this subject ..
Dr. Bader Al Shraiaan “Minister of Electricity & Water appeared on Taw Ellail show on alwatan tv on 17/5/2010 (Before Two Days) and announced that abraaj water is clear, he also mentioned that Dr Hilal Al Sayer “Minister of Public Health” also confirmed that.
You can refer to the show and check.

I have an official document coming from Kuwait Municipality stating that Abraj is not Suitable for Human use I will email it to you now.

OK then let me add that my relative who work at KPC assured me that KPC HSE & all Oil sector pulled all Abraj water out of their stock and told their catering companies to replace it with ABC.

Also they told me that KPC HSE made an internal test on lot of other local and UAE water and found bacteria in all. I can get some more info about that.

I heard not to drink it from an environmentalist who specializes in the analysis of water, 2 months before the embassy letter (real or not) started being circulated.

The big question is: Where is the water from? If it is from anywhere in Northern Kuwait, I wouldn’t drink it. Ever wonder where the nuclear-contaminants from the Gulf War went?

Even when buying mineral water, I avoid local mineral water as much as possible. I read a report on the environmental damage of oil spills during the Gulf War. The report said the environmentalists still are not sure how the oil that kept seeping down the sand from oil pools will affect the underground water bodies of Kuwait. It could only be a matter of time before it hits the wells and we are not sure how authentic the daily analytic checks at local bottling companies are.

Abraaj water is very safe, and its the best water in kuwait! People that strated the rumor maybe had a goal or wanted to start a new water company who knows.. It has no microbes or bacterias. It’s been approved by NSF,USA which carries out annual surprise audits on behalf of IBWA and Abraaj Water is also awarded the prestigous of its high standard Quality Management System. to check-*https://www.abraajwater.com/AnalysisReport.html

This is the truth check kuna news today 19-5-2010 http://www.kuna.com and the 1st page of the Arab times news pepar they SAYS Abraaj water is safe and all what was in the mails and the bbm is fake and probaganda

Personally, I’ve tried all the waters from UAE and Kuwait. None of them in my own opinion come close to exports.

The best water is Perrier. I’ve been drinking it for years, and nothing comes close to the taste of it (even when it looses the carbon.)

Why pay for still water when you get awesome carbonated water.. for an extra 150fils?

all of this will stop now, Abraj is sold for $13 million KD’s, so whomever wanted to devaluate it did not achieve the goal. transaction is done already

Kindly check all today’s newspapers.. MOH announcing that Abraj is safe … I believe what is happening with Abraj is due to the fact that the bottled water market in Kuwait is around 30m KD and clearly Abraj has the biggest market share so I assume all of their competitors wants them to fall one way or the other … unfortunately sometime competition is not ethical …

Any one consider the fact that Abraj is exclusively used by US military forces here in Kuwait. Lots of green backs in that contract. Seems to me that there is a competitor out there trying to sully Abraj’s name so that he can get in on the action… most americans back home would freak if they found out that their sons and dughters living in a war zone were drinking allegedly contaminated water. I can see congress men right know telling the defense department to pull Abraj and go for something else.

I called the US embacy today and I asked about the leater they sent and they told me that abraaj is safe to use and drink … Call 22591001 u will have the ansure !

Saw the memo myself from my embassy. If they say it’s not safe – I will believe it. Period. End of story. When I get the go ahead for safety of Abraaj again I’ll go back to it. No brainer for me.

US Embassy has clarified that the said Memo is genuine and was intended only for their staff. So the Memo wasn’t someone’s creation as assumed by some people. See today’s (Friday) Arab Times front page.

I thought it was not authintic from the beginning. To start the letter is not standard format which lacks an actual author or from person, also it lacks the level of professionalism I would expect from a memo of this nature. Furthermore additional direction would normally accompany warnings such as these. There are many reasons or motives for an erronious memo such as contract disputes or dusgrunteled employees.

@ at wet knickers Mimi is refering to all of the depleted uranium rounds used in 30mm cannons. There is an article circulated about a shipment of sand sent back to the US for decontamination.

I’m still going to drink abraaj… and the US embassy should stay out of internal matters in Kuwait

Ask the US Embassy has the right to circulate interdepartmental memos as it see fit, as unfit water may directly impact it’s operations. I don’t see how a memo that addresses a cororation is medaling in ministrial affairs. If you don’t like the us for whatever reason that is your business but don’t obscure the facts.

Embassy of the United States of America DENY the Paper That was Spread All Over Kuwait !

For gods sake, i think that everybody is freaking out for nothing!! I have been drinking Abraaj water and al hamudullah i’m still here.. The kuwati people in the old days were healthier than they are now without bottled water, so i don’t see wot all the fuss is about?? But thats just my opinion..
