I was never too sure about the exact numbers but I just found this on the KNPC website:
Ultra (Green): 98 Octane, 90 fils/Ltr
Super (Gold): 95 Octane, 65 fils/Ltr
Premium (Red): 91 Octane, 60 fils/Ltr

update: The reason I wanted to know how much octane is in what type of gas is because the manual for my bike recommends 98 octane while the manual for the Wrangler recommends 87 octane.

So? :s
why the interest all the sudden?
Yah, why the interest?
I was reading in a Jeep forum that the Wrangler’s engine was made to run on 87 octane and anything more could actually be bad for the engine. So I wanted to check how much octane is in the Premium gas.
Mark, Don’t worry about it. Just use the cheapest 😉
60 fils/ltr thats 0.22 USD/ltr = 0.83 USD/Gal.
I’ve just paid 2.89 USD/Gal. for my car here in the States!!
13KD to fill a Honda!! Ouch
and I thought 6 KD to fill my Hummer in Kuwait was too much. LOL
Octane numbers differ between regions based on the method used to calculate.
RON: Research Octane Number – European Standard
MON: Motor Octane Number – Motor sport applications, Measured under more severe conditions than RON (higher revs etc). Usually 8-10 units lower than the RON.
PON: Pump Octane Number – USA Standard, The average of RON and MON (RON+MON/2).
Check your gas cap to see if it designates PON or RON..
Your wrangler needs 87 PON which is 91 RON in Kuwait.
Bo-Bader: 2.89 USD/Gal? dude you’ve got it easy over at your city. I used to pay 3.6 to 4 USD/Gal in LA. $40 to $50 to fill my BMW. Thank god I’m back in Kuwait. Hail oil countries!
Mark: in my point of view, this clarification
“I was reading in a Jeep forum that the Wrangler’s engine was made to run on 87 octane and anything more could actually be bad for the engine. So I wanted to check how much octane is in the Premium gas.”
This should be posted with your post to avoid conflicts of interset 🙂

So does that mean you will not drive it any more? 😛
What K said is correct.
Yup really helpful info. So now I can save 5 fils per liter 🙂
I use 98 octane, wondering if the dealership just have some perverse desire to bust my bank account.
I copy pasted what K said into the forum and got the following reply:
Although the octane rating used in the UK is RON it is not the Research Octane Number. The UK RON is the average of the RON and PON quoted above and should be the one quoted on forecourts. Our RON acronym refers to Road Octane Number. Standard UK fuel rating is 91 (Don’t remember seeing it on any forecourt for years. Premium (normal fuel) 95, super unleaded is 98-102 RON depending on the supplier. BP is 102 RON.
Did you know that there is no real way to test octane no matter what number.
Food for thought
Mark:
Thats for the UK .. they are weird, like the British Gallons and Imperial lengths.
And .. RON is RON .. Road Octane Number is actually RdON.
And Purg is a Professor of Chem .. He approves this message.

From my experience gas chromatography can do a pretty accurate job.
Lucky people.. I pay £70 (37KD) to fill my r33 skyline (65 litres tank) here in the uk.. at £1.08 a litre and it does 25mpg if I drive her gently, which is hard!
It will only use shell v-power too which is the most expensive. I was told that in Japan they have some really high ocatne juice. I think Kuwait should give all its citizens abroad a free fuel card.. Mark.. please bring that into power when you become mayor :p
K.theKuwaiti:
True but in the case of octane it is impossible, look it up.
BTW: I work in the oil sector for 8 years now and bumped heads with CEO’s of major company’s and heads of marketing.
Iirrespect of the Octane No. in kuwait the problem is really in the residues & impurities in the fuel(including water ),the worst impuriteis are the gums that burn and damage the pistons. and if Kuwait’s fuel stayed for too long in the tank ( like parking a car or bike off season ) it disolves the rubber parts & seals around the submerged fuel pum and rusting the tank
The expensive 98 ( green pumps ) is actually IMPORTED !! That is why it is too expensive for Kuwait.
If your vehicle is not a high performing one the I suggest one full-up of the 98 Octane after every three full-up of the lower octane
my car performs better on the Ultra and better mileage.
This post helped me 😀
mEL: I read somewhere that higher octane only avoids knocking and gives better acceleration but mileage normally goes down with higher octane fuel.
can anyone help me and tell me the MON of the ULTRA (green) Octane 98 ?
Hello, can any one tell me what the USA 91 fuel is = to here in Kuwait
thanks
the US 91 octane = 95 in kuwait
hi there
, can any one tell me what the kuwait altra super 98 fuel is = in US ???
thanks
The ultra super 98 octane in kuwait is the same as 91 octane in the US .. That’s what “g-force”said after sending a sample to them
our Ultra 98 is the same as the 93 US and not the 91.. KNPC confirmed it as a 95 PON but i doubt it..
Guys need a quick answer what is 93 us octane in kuwait is it ultra super?
Guys i need some help please,,,, I am buying a 2014 Challenger and I read it runs on Oct 89 for better knocks and mileage… What is that in Kuwait?
