An amazing rescue by Animal Friends

I got an email today at 4PM from a reader about a dog that was stuck on a roof of a building in Khaitan. The dog had been stuck up there for a few days and it looked like it was nearing its end and needed to be rescued right away. Here is a snippet from the email:

I’ve got a stray dog emergency on my hands and thought you might be the right man for the job. Im not super good at explaining directions in Kuwait which is why I have not already placed a call to Animal Friends or PAWS.

There is a dog stuck on the roof of a building. I can see him from my kitchen window.

I really pray that you can help. Several residents have tried climbing up the wall below the roof to reach him. But he backs off. My own 12 year old son tried and he almost fell off the wall.

The dog barks all night. I just checked on him and I can see his chest rising fast. His breathing is labored. I don’t think he has much time left.

Here is how you can find him, but please keep my address details private.

XXXXXADDRESS REMOVEDXXXXX

Now the haris of this building has a reputation (so I have heard) for throwing live kittens from the top of the roof! It’s only a matter of time before the barking at night gets on his nerves and he kills this dog.

So I quickly forwarded the email to Animal Friends and sent one to Nataly as well who ended up calling them up and explaining the situation. Within two hours of getting the email Animal Friends not only managed to rescue the dog that was stuck on top of the roof but also managed to rescue a second dog which they found nearby.

Animal Friends are an incredible organization in Kuwait but really do need as much help as they can get. I know many of you have emailed me asking how you could help out financially so I got their bank account information so you can now easily transfer to them your donations. Any amount will make a difference so please if you care about animals help them out. By the way they don’t just save dogs they save all kinds of animals. They’ve got a 4 month old baboon for example whom they’re building an enclosure for which you can check [Here]

So please help them out, here is their bank information:

This is a great story and an amazing job done by Animal Friends! A friend of mine found a swallow about 9 months ago, looked like it was on its death bed and Animal Friends was there to save the day. They were very responsive, unlike PAWS, and gave us instructions on how to take care of the bird till we could get it to the vet, where they would pick it up.

It’s about time we have an organization like Animal Friends in Kuwait.

How on earth did it get up there? Did some idiot leave it up there? poor thing. Any updates on its state now would be nice.Hope he/she is lying in a comfy basket with some nice food right now.

i just found out the other day on the Dubai news that mistreatment towards animals has a fine and punishment with prescribed hours of community service ! thats just amazing…i wish Kuwait enforced similar rules…not that im comparing the both…but its these kinda good things that one should imitate from others !

:\

Ayeshah and the Animal Friends team are doing an outstanding job to secure a safe life for these animals.

Animal Friends ROCKS!
show your support people and donate!

We need more and more people like the guy who reported this doggie & More organisations like Animal Friends & PAWS! Please donate what you can to help this great cause!!!! God Bless you ;o)

Animal Friends is indeed one of the most professional non-charitable organisations I have come across. Just that they respond to even simple queries promptly is evidence to their profesionalism. They have a news letter too you can subscribe too. Keep up the good work. All the best Ayesha!

They’re amazing, i’m really glad they managed to save both dogs! I’m a senior in highschool and started a school project with 3 members of my phys. ed. class and we’re going to raise awareness for this org. and donate lots of goods cuz they really do deserve it!

I don’t want to knock PAWS because they also do an amazing job – with very few resources – to help animals. They work long hours for no pay and truly care.

Having said that – they don’t pick up their phone when you have an emergency. They don’t answer SMSs.

AFL calls back immediately and gets the job done – not a day later, but when the animal really needs the help.

I’m sure that they could pay (something minimal) to a poor person to answer their phone and screen calls. There are lots of people in Kuwait who need money – and part time work.

Send me the address for the hariss. I need stress relief and wouldn’t mind kicking his ass.

WTF IS IT with Egyptians and rooftops? The Hawalli Monster was into rooftops too. Maybe he too started by torturing animals that way.

I have been here 5 years and find it abysmal the way animals are treated in this country. Thank GOD for AF. This story is so typical of them and how they respond to any emergency they are called for.
