An old Video Club membership card

A reader emailed me this old Video Club membership card he found dating back to the mid 80’s. Back then you’d pay to be able to rent a certain amount of videos and every time you rented a video they’d punch a hole in the card. That was back when The Video Club was one of the coolest video rental places in Kuwait.

Thanks Kyle

ooooh Man how the heck did you remember the AC . That’s spot on , it was Awesome . And who said they were one of the coolest , they are still the kings , no one ever exceeded them . so many memories . The Place in Mariam center had those cool nooks and crannies and the sliding shelves. those were the days.

That was back in the day! That is the first time I discovered what anime was, And I rented it from the Mariam Center Store!

This is back when Kuwait was more open and they barely cut or blocked movies, it was great, we could literally watch anything!

Yeah, the Video Club back then was the best and coolest video place in Kuwait.

1986 brings back great memories of Top Gun, Aliens, Ferris Bueller’s Day Out, Aliens, and new Dynasty episodes every wednesday.

Life was really beautiful.

My brother and I would go there every Thursday.

Each film had a number and you had to look the film up in the catalog to it. There was a lad there who knew all the numbers by heart.

Do you have Top Gun?

Yes, no 98632.

How about Raiders Of The Lost Ark?

No, its on the black list.

Lord of the Rings?*

No, but we have some good wrestling videos.

*The 1978 version.

OmG it was the place to be !!!
I still have my card too. Every Wendesday my mother had to take me. I would rent the movies and then go to the ice skating rink. Family Day.
Fun !
