Another Shake Shack

I just heard that Shake Shack is opening a second branch in Avenues Phase III. I could understand with a brand like Pinkberry or Starbucks why you would need multiple outlets in the same mall but Shake Shack?

Well, i do understand your point..but for the people that really love shake shack – and there are a lot of them – they won’t want to walk all the way from phase 3 to phase 1 just to eat a burger..i personally think if shake shack was in phase 2, it would have been better, that way it would be right in the middle of the mall and you’ll only need one

yea i knw, but you also have to keep in mind the amount of obese/lazy people we have in Kuwait. I’m a fit guy and I def. would think twice of walking from IKEA all the way to the end of phase 3..just so many people, you have to swurve your way through traffic.

trust me, a road trip would be a lot easier than walking unwillingly for 30 minutes.

If I were at a store in phase 3 and decided to eat some shake shack, i wouldnt walk all the way to phase 1, eat and then come back to phase 3..i’d probably settle for some elevation burger.

with the portions beings as small as they are.. having another outlet 100 meters away ought to help some of us !

i hate you Shake Shack i hate all alshaya brands even if he open a concept sells sh!t still ppl will eat it because alshaya brings branded names, in fact it’s low brand outside, same what you post earlier about tim hortons, poor ppl they don’t know the taste of their tongue??

I think the large majority of people that eat at the restaurants don’t care or know who owns it. Nobody went to Amigo’s in Avenues and that closed down because of that lol.

@Whateva, I think Shake Shack is a damn good burger in Kuwait. Pure beef from the US cooked in soy oil, serves Fiji water, and a competent staff behind the corner with nice music playing in the place. Last Eid, Shake Shack was the only thing shaking in the mall. It;s not a ‘low brand’ in NYC it is a famous hamburger joint where tourists go to when visiting the city. Maybe you will like Texas Roadhouse more, the meat is top notch and it is a fun restaurant. God knows Kuwait needs entertainment! snooze…..

Because if people walk all the way from Phase 3 to Phase 1 they stand a significant risk of burning calories and no one really wants that because burning things is often dangerous. In fact I think they should consider running a Shake Shack delivery service within the mall so that you can walk around doing your thing while your burger comes to you. Even better if they can liquidate your shake shack burger and pump it through your clogged veins with an IV drip on a hanger that you can just roll around the mall with you so that you don’t have to worry about burning insignificant calories via digestion. Actually I think this is a great idea to extrapolate to every other store in Phase 1, not just shake shack. Phase 3 should be a duplicate of Phase 1 so that no one has to walk back for any reason whatsoever. They can call it “Phase 1(2)”. Also if you parked close to Phase 1, there should be a valet service that brings your car to your nearest exit. Alternatively all three phases could be connected via a conveyor belt for rapid pedestrian transportation (like the ones they have in many airports). That way you can just stand on the belt and it conveys you around the mall like a baws. If you see something you like at a store you can just tap on the window holding up your purse and a store clerk would deposit the item into it, all while you’re stationary as fuaaark, like a baws. Now that would be a baller ass mall.

some one is getting in to your nerve, huh ?
your vision for Avenues reminded me of a scene in WALL-E movie. where people who escaped earth and living in a space ship in future almost live like that.

There are 10 restaurants opening in Phase 3 next year that’s just one of them. There’s also another Pinkberry lol

All the new brands so:
ihop
potbelly
pei wei
some of the old brands opening new locations in phase 3
and an unannounced brand

In Dubai, Shake Shack is in the Emirates Mall (one), and I don’t recall if they are in Dubai Mall, but why would they put two Shake Shack’s in the same mall? I am assuming it is because of the rent factor. It really should be in another mall in Kuwait, but that would make sense and really there is little business sense in Kuwait. There are many Shake Shacks in NYC, but in different parts of the city.

@mimi. I noticed that Al-Shaya definately runs his businesses differently in Dubai than Kuwait. It seems he goes back to his roots too much here and looses business sense. In Dubai, he is forced to sit up straight at the dinner table and perform his operations with a little bit more business sense. It’s almost scitzophrenic. It is not good business sense to put two shake shacks in the same mall.

@Abdou, In a recent study, they found that without entertainment in malls, malls will not sell merchandise as well. When people feel happy with free entertainment in stores, the profit margins rose. If you visit the new Virgin store in the Dubai Mall, they have a concert on fridays, there is also mall entertainment in the Dubai Mall, especially during Eid timeframes continuously which draws huge crowds. Also in the study, they found that malls need entertainement features like skating rinks, etc to draw crowds especially in an economic downturn.

I have been to malls in 20+ countries and sadly, Kuwait has the worst variety inside of them. For a mall as big as the Avenues, there is nothing special. The food and clothing is nice, but for such a gigantic place, there is no decent
music equipment store, bookstore, etc. All the clothing stores sell pretty much the same style of clothing…polos, jeans, t shirts. See the malls in Bangkok, USA, UK, Malaysia, Australia and even Dubai and you will see so much variety unlike here were the only thing to shop is luxury brands.

@aaa, NOT IN KUWAIT! Not one form of free entertainment in the Avenues during the last Eid timeframe and there probably will not be any entertainment this Eid. Poor managment and it hurts the vendors there. Look at the amount of shopping bags, not many, because people feel sad and they will not spend. Is an Ice Skating rink being put in the Avenues in Phase 3? I think he is bringing that KidZ Zone which is very popular in the Dubai Mall. Kuwait needs entertainment. FREE KUWAIT!

Dangerzone: are you actually criticising Al Shaye’s way of doing business ?

He OWNS the Avenues mall and can open 20 Shake Shack , Pinkberry , Boots, H & M, Starbucks or any other brand of his whenever he feels like it !!

They want everyone else to shut down. It’s as simple as this. The landlord wants to kick out his tenant by competing with him? Anyways I think what is needed is another outdoor and entertainment area. Just too boring relative to Dubai.

@realist. You are a realist and you hit it right on the head. This place is just too boring compared to Dubai because they have staff who plan quality free entertainment in malls. But what is interesting is that I don’t hear other vendors in Dubai complaining about AlShaya’s monopoly approach to the market although he is everywhere.

That’s because he is faced with the unfortunate reality of paying market rents. Dubai has a wider choice of entertainment and dining which makes being forced into the same brands less probable.

Because from the next year no one will be walking from Phase one to phase three šŸ™‚
Who ever is going to the avenues will pick which phase he is going to and park his car in.
dude its gonna be like 2 KMs of walking šŸ™‚

Because we are becoming this fat ignorant lazy nation that AlShaya Co. is feeding and baby caring with lots of food and consumer products but with zero culture and about their concept of philanthropy don’t even get me started!

I also think the Avenues needs a tang cafe.
Judging by the amount on sale at the airport this could be a profitable second location.

Wish they could replace the McDonald’s in Rawda with Shake Shack. Perfect Location! Would be just like NYC! *crosses fingers*

Othman… not missing much. I didn’t find any of them good. Shake shack here is too oily. i much preferred it in ny

burger boutique and johnny rockets are much better

Good!
Another outlet to serve the same tiny greasy burgers.
I hate the place.
More outlets and Shayaa need to consider getting more big and tall brands..

they need to start putting someof these places else where like in Fahaheel since Fahaheel is the third place Kuwaiti’s go besides Salmiya and Avenue’s! did you see they are building another restaurant complex near the Hilton Resort and another just a short walk from the Spoons Complex in Mahaboula with beach access.
I finally ate at Five Guys when I went home to the Texas these last 2 weeks and it’s just the same as Shake Shack, DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!
