Aqua Park Demolished

I’ve never been to Aqua Park and don’t think it’s a landmark so I have no feelings about this. Link

The problem with theme parks, is they are not very easy to refurbish, mostly because the space is taken up by rides. Once these rides start to become old and outdated (if they are not maintained for properly), the best option is to remove them. Once you do that, you begin to have a pretty big empty space

So demolishing a rebuilding an amusement/theme park is not always a bad thing

I’m confused. Is it closed down and being removed entirely from that area? In which case WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. I have so many memories from there. Loved going there every summer.
Or is it being renovated? In which case, CAN”T WAIT to see what’s new.

That place was a pile of junk and im glad its been demolished. It doesnt belong right under a landmark. This should be a nice public park like Al Shaheed.

I enjoyed aqua park, it seemed well maintained at least when I was there. . I just hope their is another place similar for people and their family.

Man, this place was probably the best among all other amusement destinations in Kuwait for the youth. I haven’t been to it since a very long time (90s), but when it first opened, I’m pretty sure there was no place like it. The slides, the lazy river, the waves, the snacks and food, everything there had its flavor. I’m not sad about demolishing it because it got bad throughout the years, and I believe it was changed as someone mentioned. It’s not the same and whatever memories we had was lost long before they decided to take the place down.

Unfortunately, even in its prime years, some visitors would still manage to ruin things and make it annoying every now and then with their stupidity and lack of decency.

Dude, Showbiz had the Showbiz Pizza Place, and they actually had the legendary animtronic band the “Rock-aFire Explosion” I wonder where they eventually ended up at

Also, Random fact, Shaab Park has the most amazing haunted house, which was actually a knock off of Disneylands Haunted Mansion, except this one was called the Haunted Castle and it was legit

Good times

Something will please many of you…No customs fees for any shipment less than 100 kd.
Official news.

I just received something from Korea via Aramex 4 days ago and I paid customs, well at least that was a line item charge on the bill separate from shipping charge (and I was prompted to pay the customs before the item was received in Kuwait). The item I bought was only 12 KWD.

Mybox and Shopandship charge 1kd, FedEx and ups I think charge 5 but not 10. But these are custom clearance fees not custom fees.

But before I think it was $100 or less u don’t pay customs and if over $100 u pay 5% customs. Now it looks like if it’s 100kd or less u don’t pay customs. But I believe u will still have to pay custom clearance which is 1kd or 5kd depending on courier.

Apparently after a this crises. I dont know theres any theme park left here in Kuwait. Theres no fun at all. Which is kinda disappointing. I grew up in kuwait and Pretty much my life is here but seeing all of this I dont know I wouldnt stay here much longer.

Aqua Park was an antiquated, far-past-its-sell-by-date blight occupying prime real estate – good riddance. The entire cape where the Kuwait Towers sit needs to be de-fenced and opened up as a manicured, open, accessible green space that brings the landmark into the public sphere and back into the city.

Parks and landmarks are part of the fabric of a city, and it would be beneficial for Kuwait to stop hiding them behind fences and restricting access to them to certain hours of the day. New York doesn’t lock Central Park up, London’s Hyde Park isn’t fenced, Paris doesn’t shutter the Bois de Boulogne after 10 PM – heck, Baku’s Zaha Hadid-designed Heydar Aliyev Center is completely open to the public, to the point where kids skateboard along the building’s curved edges, couples have wedding photo shoots there and the whole site is simply part of the city for its inhabitants to interact with. The argument can be made that people in Kuwait vandalize and trash everything – something I totally agree with – but this is nothing that can’t be fixed without proper implementation of punitive fines and zero tolerance towards vandalism. Sting people in their wallets and maintain consistent follow through, and people will obey.

Remember that one ride that had the tube that was totally dark except some led lights, and you would slide down so fast then get dropped in a donut shape thing and would swirl around before being dumped into a pool? That was some scary shit…..some of the LED light strings seemed to not be working which made me think of poor maintenance of equipment while I was going down the slide. That movie Final Destination flashed in my mind going down.

I wish the same amount of advertising that goes into fast foods and delivery services would also go into theme parks and similar activities so we would know about them/they wouldn’t be so easily forgotten. I do understand that fast food and delivery service have more money but damn the shit is on every billboard outside of luxury stores, dental, hospital, and perfume advertisements.

I guess Its only a matter of time until they shut down internet and take away our TVs… the only form of entertainment remaining in the country.

-_-

Anything Alshayah or Ikarius doesn’t have their hand in to that is entertainment related has the potential of getting shut down I guess. Did you see the little bounce stuff along Marina how expensive it got once they took over. It’s the big commercial companies taking over the little guys. Maybe it’s better for them when these things get shut down. If there isn’t Shaab park or entertainment city or any of these that I would only guess belong to the government then people have no choice but to go to future kid, magic in Avenues and all of those that charge an arm and a leg. What’s next Old Kuwaiti village.

Showbiz, Entertainment City, Shaab Park, Aqua Park- all gone. Kuwait nowadays is a place for Consumers, not for People.

Damn! Mark, u never been there? It was like Entertainment city multiplied by 3. You could spend there all day, eat shaved ice in syrup and good fatayer. Get 3rd degree sunburn and escape school the day after. I have a video of my school going there in the 90s, if you will be interested i’ll upload it.

I have always wanted to go to a waterpark yesterday I asked my mother if I could go to a waterpark she said when aqua park opens so today I searched when will aqua park be opened and I was heartbroken it will never be opened I guess
