When I first heard that the orange Chihuly sculpture at 360 Mall got damaged I got really upset since I imagined a large chunk of it had fallen to the ground. Luckily my imagination had run wild and the damage turned out to be barely visible. I passed by 360 Mall earlier tonight and actually had a hard time spotting the damage which is great.
If you’re curious to know how both the Chihuly sculptures were built check out these pictures that were taken during the installation. [Link]

I don’t understand why the management are thinking about dropping the charges.. Talk about vandalism!
Now that’s one curious blogger.
Just back from a vacation in Lebanon and head straight to 360 mall to check the damage to the Chihuly sculpture.
🙂
Here is a pic I took 2 days ago, no visible damage

What the hell… So a teenager throws a shoe at a $1.8million (KD 500,000) sculpture and breaks some of it and isn’t pressed charges?
What kind of crap is this? He says he didn’t expect it to break since he was throwing a shoe at the thing! Wow…
Such a dipshit…why why whhhyyyyy would you throw your shoe a) in the first place b) in a public place!!
He should make him a lesson for all the 3gaidees out there in Kuwait!
agree with LE
ouchh! have u got a clue what happened to the boy he threw his crocs? has he got to pay the damage or what happened to him, i heared that he was arrested by the mall security
The link that Mark posted says what happened to the boy. When he threw a shoe at it and broke it, he was originally pressed charges but the mall manager is thinking about taking not pressing charges.
Apparently the boy says that he didn’t expect the thing to break. Such crap.
I am going to assume he was an expat, how would be punished?
meh
Ok this is the verified story. Young man threw his sandle three or four times aiming at the art work which he damaged.
Turns out he is under 18, I think 14, and he is a Bedoon (Non-Citizen). His father is passed away and his mother is a cancer patient in the hospital. Once the owners found out about the details of the child’s situation they dropped the charges.
Even though I think the child/teenager should be punished, I find it very honorable what the owners of 360 Mall did.
True, he is irresponsible, but obviously lacking the basics of proper guidance. The drama over the incident was way too huge for what actually happened, and as Marzouq said, the management of 360 mall were very considerate. very nice of them…
Where did you read this? Could you please provide a link.
Is he also diagnosed with an unknown terminal disease, and all his uncles are dead, his aunties all have cancer, and has 3 brothers: a blind one, a deaf one, and a mute one?
I swear some bdoons tell you the most tragic made up stories I’ve ever heard!
The reason I ask what I asked was because I know a guy who lost his dad from, I think, cancer and wanted to know if it was him. Not everything you hear is a lie.
One word – CONSEQUENCES!!
I actually took a photo of the damage done a few days ago

I never knew about the kids story until now, very honourable by 360 Mall to drop all charges.
I still believe he should be punished. The reason I prefer 360 over the Avenues is because of the different background of the costumers, if you catch my drift. I swear, Kuwait is fed up with their poor manners, careless driving, etc. So any bedoon can wreck havoc in Kuwait and uses his/her family situation to get a free pass?
So let me get this straight. I have 01 deceased parent and another with a terminal disease that is eventually gonna leave me an orphan so that gives me license to throw etiqutte and manners out the window and vandelize public property and art?? What if this wasnt a chandellier we are talking about?? How about a priceless peice of art in a museum?? Could I have broken that and got away with it?? May be they should put up a sign at the Hassan Makki Center.. Free for all.. All kids with parents in this facility can now vent their frustrations in 360 mall. First one to actually bring a chandelier down wins a prize. God I love this country..
Just disgusting.
I don’t give a snap about the kids personal situation – if he isn’t punished, he’ll go on to do other bad things. Make him do community service. Maybe he’ll learn a skill that he can use later in life.
Mark, are you sure this is a chihuly sculpture? Kuwait isn’t mentioned on his site: https://www.chihuly.com/places-public-installations.aspx
