I received information this morning that the Customs Union could go on a general strike anytime between now and March 15th. If you remember last year, customs went on strike and it was chaos since no shipments were being cleared. After the government promised future reforms and concessions the Customs Union ended their strike but supposedly this time around the union is making it clear that only immediate action will end their strike.
Looks like they’ve timed their strike with the release of the iPad 3 which SUCKS! I really hope the strike doesn’t end up happening.

This had to happen when I pre ordered my new ipad 🙁 Secondly they take so long to clear shipments which is electronic in nature.
@Mark – You have any information on how much customs they will charge for shipping the ipad thru aramex?

I think its the perfect time for customs to strike, since I don’t have any pending shipments nor am I ordering anything in the next few weeks, most definitely not the iFart.

i can honestly cant see why theyre striking… i went to their this week to clear my own shipment and its just a big “fudge up” where no one does their own work and if it wasnt for the indian cleaning guy i wouldnt have finished anything…

Question to the people who have ordered their ipads,have u guys ordered through the US or UK apple website? coz the last I heard apple(US) apparently refuses to ship to forwarding addresses…..
US. I’ve heard people have had difficulty ordering from them but I haven’t had an issue yet.

what do they want now? raises? i think they deserve it for all the work that they do, diligently going through all those boxes. I am of course talking about the cleaning guys that work there. They are the ones that do all the inspecting.

I came to know that the Customs people are returning the Canon Goods which are order from Amazon or from Outside Kuwait. Is it true?

This time I’m bypassing Aramex and shipping it directly to my sister in the US since last time my orders got cancelled and I thought let’s avoid this hassle and do it that way. She’ll just Fedex it to me and that means less time in Customs hopefully if its stopped there even.
